Awesome, really awesome! I have my Dad's 1924 Regal 4 string banjo and need a case for it so it doesn't get damaged from Colorado Dry climate, any other suggestions? Thanks Rod
@rodauen Thanks for commenting - we heat with wood and are always concerned about dryness in the winter. Annie keeps humidifiers on her guitars but the banjo doesn't require much attention. Keep an eye on the neck. If it has a truss rod you can adjust it to keep the neck strait. All the best,
@MyBadplayer Thanks for the message, we appreciate your kind thoughts. Many years ago I heard a singer/musician being interviewed and she said "The more I practice, the luckier I get." I've had that saying written on my kitchen wall ever since.
Just love the way you play these great old tunes and a great help to me as, I`m just starting out picking banjo and can see how you`re doing it. Thanks for the music.
Looking for old time music, I stumbled across your videos on YouTube. As a novice Claw banjo player, I find your music incredibly inspiring. Keep the tunes coming.
One of your best performance for me... and the light of the video has somewhat of an artistic picture... and this lovely music remember me my childhood. A touch of magic!
Watched this video last night and it stayed in my head all day today at work, Got my mind off work and made the day go by faster thankyou for the wonderful music to listen too!!!!
I love tour music. About the best I have ever heard.
I am learning the banjo via in studio lessons and books . right now I'm trying the clawhammer Your rendidtions are an inspiration to me to continue. I am 72 years old and have playing off an on for about a year
I've bought me a clawhammer banjo 3 weeks ago and i'm learning how to play by ear. This tune is one of my favorites. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
listened to this and Soldier's Joy,my all time favorite by three of my favorite artists, Earl Scruggs, John Mckuen (Nitty Gritty dirt band) and the great Hawkshaw Hawkins. I also like the versions of S.Joy by the Whites , and by Flatt and scruggs, and boy ,i have to tell you,you got some pretty sweet shifts in there which make yours a great performance.Enjoyed your play immmensely, and I've sent it to the FlyinScot, my friend Bill Stewart of London Ont.,one great banjo picker in his own right.
Alright you two,now this tune is gonna be stuck in my head! I also got to tell ya, I enjoy playing along with ya on my guitar and banjo.I learned alot just by watching you play. Thanks again for sharing your joy of Bluegrass with us.I havn't come across The Turkey in the Straw tune yet,can ya do it for us?
Beautifully done version of my absolutely favorite old-time tune. I`m not too far from you ( Maryland) but found your postings via a "YouTube" friend ("Achnamara") in Scotland, whose banjo teacher, via the Web is in.... Maryland!
What tuning do you use for the banjo?
johnnugentiscool 2 weeks ago
@johnnugentiscool The banjo is in Double C tuning - gCGCD. Fiddlers usually play this tune in D with the banjo capoed up two frets.
