I looked it up on wikipedia and it turns out it's to do with nucleation site on the mentos mints and the CO2 in the drink. The CO2 can form large bubbles on the tiny pits in the surface of the mentos (nucleation) meaning they rapidly expand causing the coke or drink to erupt out of the top.
However, the fruity mentos don't have as many nucleation sites so it doesn't work as well as normal, minty ones.
So the Coke worked better? It's hard to see in this video. Wait for the Sprite to settle down, or don't zoom in on the Coke.

There are ingredients that contribute to the reaction but it is mainly a physical reaction rather than a chemical one :D
