3:34 dude says pitchers will start throwing inside more, True until they face a couple kids that just tee off on the inside, then everyone would be working on inside hitting. exactly what we do for travel ball since we used wood. you have to work on hitting the ball inside outside. on everyone part of the plate. i PERSONALLY THINK WOOD SHOULD BE IN HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUES ALL THE WAY TO PRO, THE SOUND OF A WOOD BAT IS THE SOUND OF BASEBALL TO ME, NOT PING!! FROM THE SOUND OF ALUMINUM.
I believe the difference is in the SIZE of the sweet spot on a metal bat is larger, and therefore more forgiving when batting. Speed off the bat is very close, its just the batter doesn't have to be as accurate with a metal bat.
Kyle Reese is wrong with having his players bat with wood during practice. people say that there is a transition point from metal to wood. yet most of these same people think that there is no transition from wood back to metal. this is wrong. during the season you shouldnt bat with wood during practice unless you plan on using it during the game. you adjust your swing everytime you switch. this is just adding a huge of amount of unnecesary work.
its hurting kids chances to play as good in the mlb and making it harder to adjust. I really dont like it and am sick and tired of it. im a college player and hate metal bats. i wana see baseball played the way it should be, small ball, better pitching and better coaching. its making players lazier and out of shape and go to steriods!!
@08WSChamps Metal bats do not lead anyone to steriods or make them out of shape or lazy. those claims are just wrong. Its also not too big of a transition for most real college players because they all hit with wood during the summer. though i do agree that they should switch to wood.
I agree with the standpoints of coaches kyle reese, tom bass, and brian ely, I would much rather see the wooden bats, although they wouldnt be much less of a risk, the point is theyd be slightly less of a risk. Safety is much more important thn stats and the longball. i think aluminum/metyal bats have ruined the game of baseball in tht they allow not as good hitters with poor mechanics to get away with crappy swings...
i totally agree with the last guy to talk because now high school players are looking forward to play pro and they should at least start at high school when they should get used to wooden bats. i dont mind aluminum at all especially for elementary,middle school and jr. high but i think that the price would be cheaper too.
they should not be talking about price. One aluminum bat is gonna last a hole season. 10 wood bats could easily be broken. Im gonna say the 10 wood ones would add up to more than one aluminum so yea. Price shouldnt even be an issue.
I am 100% for wooden bats from a purist point of view. but the argument that metal bats are more dangerous is baloney. A metal bat can be manufactured to hit similar to wood. No real reason to ban them.
I believe wood bats are just as dangerous as metal bats. You can hit ALMOST as far with a wood bat as you can with a metal bat. I believe aluminum and metal bats including composite just cover up mistakes in swings better.

metal bats are better. they are lighter, have more bend/pop, sting less often,no chance of breaking in half,etc. sooo I roll with my 2006 Voodoo.

@AvidGamer749 I bet your going to have fun with your 2006 voodoo putting it in the closet and never using it again for the 2012 season.

@UnfukmeeIsAFatTroll
No, I have used it for 3 regular seasons and an all-star season.

@AvidGamer749 Its not bbcor certified, so you won't be able to use it if you play 2012 hs baseball.

a line drive to the face hurts no matter what, so a wood bat and metal bat doesn't make a big difference!
