  • Horses with intermediate 4 beat gaits do all the same gaits as their non-intermediate gaited counterparts. So, yes they can canter and gallop.

  • Yes, if they are pushed, speed-wise, beyond their capability to gait. Each individual is different, and you have to learn the horse to determine how fast it can travel in gait without overriding him/her.
