As usual, great playing! I know we are all the sum total of our influences but was this meant to be an homage to Leo Kottke? I noticed at 2:06 you are clearly playing "Vaseline Machine Gun" and then a brief segment directly from "Up Tempo".
Maybe it's the slide, maybe it's the finger picking, maybe it's the openness of the chords used, but I hear a lot of bluegrass in this song and just love it. Put simply, this is a really cool song, Ulli. Keep 'em coming!
Hallo :) Ich freue mich schon aufs nächste Acoustic Guitar Meeting! Hoffentlich wieder mit so exzellenten Partnern wie Andy McKee und dem großen Don Ross.
eineScheibeBrot, you really think it hard to understand? To me it sounds very traditional. Let you ears get used to it. I do agree you need some practice to play it, but not listen at really :))
Super, dass du deine alten LPs neu einspielst, ich habe diese sehr oft gehört, kleine Änderungen gehören zur Entwicklung, sehr schön (wie immer) gespielt.
please i need to know the tunning i have a slide but i dont know what tunning you are doing? please.

You can get basic thumb picks a Guitar Center
renayo952 2 years ago
I believe he uses a Dunlop brand thumbpick, they can be found at practically any local guitar store. Antoine Dufour also uses these! :)

Listen at around 2.16 and 2.46. Too similar to Leo K. to be coincidental. Great technique here, but monotonous to my ear.

Great !
But, in all honesty, this seems so influenced by
Leo Kottke ...
123ThisIsMe 3 years ago
On second thought, it comes to remind of
'Dear Prudence' ...
Then, on third thought,it comes that all music is influenced by somebody else's music - and their music was inspired by someone...
So, it goes on and on ...
I guess it is impossible by now, to come out with something that is so unique that it does not remind of something that's been heard before ...
