Can anyone verify if at 1:23 , what did the person said? Was it " Walk into the silence with great voice." or "Walkin' through"? Or is it another entirely saying? And to whom can i attribute it to?
@Feedback13 You were correct with voice :) it's something he says all the time and has really hit me as something very important, whether you're playing in an orchestral setting or out on the field.
Come on. Really? This was your best piece of recording. F**** you even told me while you Just recorded BD with the Irish guy, "Hey I'm going to check out Vanguard."..Needless to say I should have went with you. If I did, I would have heard my FAVORITE live piece to date. Look forward to your single pod your canon and your audio fuzzy.
God how I want the Academy(aka Vanguard Cadets) to be in the top 12. Breakout of the Mandarins/Pacific Crest void. From one Andre to another. Excel and triumph. Acaaaaaaaaaaadaaaaaammmmeeeeyyyyyyyyy.
Listen with headphones! Chilling. Lovely. Thank you, Mr. Feagin, and all you young musicians, for sweating out the summer and playing your hearts out. Beautiful singing - I actually hear the base line better in voice than with horns.
@who8mahbacon After music theory, I got to play some of the bach chorales (I'm a french horn) for a baculareat or however its spelled. I don't like churchs nor religions but those were very fun to play. I got Tenor part... <3
the interaction between the dir. and the students is out of this world!! Their balance, attacks and releases are perfect!! THEY SOUND GOOD!!! Almost heavenly..
the best corp ever..yea I said it.....Idc what anyone else think. They have emotion&feeling in all that they do..unlike other corps that just play the music...
@MarinVillalpando15 Long tradition in SCV to sing your parts. I remember when I marched in the late 70's, we did the same. If you play a horn at a decent level, it is not too difficult a task.
@tellysworld I seriously never knew that, and both my orchestra instructor and marching director from high school are alumni of SCV. That's really cool. I'd love to march SCV's drumline but I just don't have the time. :/
@MarinVillalpando15 If you don't have the time (or money) for DCI but you still want to march in a drum corps, look into joining a DCA corps. They are all-age and lots of fun. Marching in DCA Finals is a great experience. The season is about to start. In fact, today is the San Francisco Renegades Open House. Come down to Del Mar High School in San Jose today at 1PM. Many of our young people go on to march SCV, Blue Devils and Bluecoats. Worth your while!
Andre's presence is just..so.. incredible.. he was the only brass caption head I feel like I REALLY had a solid connection with while I was playing.. like a great orchestral conductor! When you're communicating musically with someone who's presence is so strong and plain to see, you instantly have something in common with, and become one with everyone around you because they're focused on the same thing you're focused on and are feeling the same thing you're feeling.
@oragami94 For me, it's more like, "If you can sing it, you can play it—in tune!"
I remember in 1980, we sang the chorale from "Jupiter" for Madison and they sang, "You'll Never Walk Alone" for us. At least, I think that's what happened. It was so long ago!
This is what makes a person dedicate themselves to being better. The beauty of tone and chords resonates through all of us wether or not we want to admit it. Great job director for inspiring your musicians..
@stakluva as a nation we have trivialized the importance of music education and the arts. That is actually really smart. As a brass player you need to say your lips as much as possible. It's also a good technique to learn to listen to people around you.
Omg what can i say other than FLAWLESS scv actually has class and omffffffg those chords were beatiful talk about tone quality mmmmmm if i had to listen to somerhing the rest of my life, this is the perfect example of how to play stylistically and in tune, i would like to see blue devils play some quality like this instead of throwing a pleathora of super g's in ans it sounding trashy which is common for bd bc they suck big time hobestly crown shouldve won and scv a close second this was amazin
I love the chord progessions in the first line. I-V-I7(V7/IV...aka the sweet spot)-IV-V7-I. Simple but effective in Bach chorales, especially with dominant seventh chords. Excellently played by the ever amazing Vanguard.
chord at 1:43 soooooo good, then even better moving into the next!
