  • I used to fly DC10's I love that plane

  • Whats the name of the song?

    Thx

  • Take an L1011, eliminate all the safety features & advanced engineering, and you have a DC-10.

No thanks, this plane just killed too many people.

  • @MrNorthernRed 747 killed way more people

  • @LongLiveTheDC10 The 747 flew a lot more people- and is still flying them. Sure, if you allow for idiotic KLM pilots ramming one 747 into another and faulty maintenance on a pressure bulkhead in Japan, the 747 has taken some innocent lives- but you can't blame those on basic design shortcomings- which the DC10 had in spades due to the rush to beat the L1011 to market. Even Convair, the fuselage barrel subcontractor, warned McDonnell-Douglas about the shortcomings of their design.

  • dc-10 is still in service with Fedex!!!!

  • is that fsx gold addition

  • idiot O.o

  • looks better then boeing planes

  • DC-10 is out there and in cargo service as MD-10 today!

  • goodbye dc-10 u will not be missed because of your crash record

  • @syzorst go fuck yourself!!! The DC-10 is more than that!

  • nice job on the video! you are a pro dude!

  • i do not want to say goodbye to this wonderful airplane

  • greatest plane in the world

  • wtf one flew over my house their still around

  • it flys for fedex dumass

  • great widebody aircraft, i flew on CP Air when it had DC 10's and also Air Pacific!

  • why alot of good planes go bye bye

  • actually, what he means is being retired and phased out bit by bit, leading to an eventual extinction of the aircraft. By the way, beautiful video and my personal favorite aircraft!

  • atleast not all the dc's are gone

  • This is a DC-10, 30 or 40 series. They have larger fuel tanks, so the center main gear was standard equipment as on the MD-11. The 10,15, & 20 series DC-10s don't carry extra fuel so they don't need the extra 2 wheel main gear. As for safety....at least the vertical stabilizers don't fall off in flight like Airbus A300,310, and 330 aircraft. Talk about major flaws!!!

  • The DC-10 has a horrid crash record. I would sooner walk myself across the ocean then board one of these death traps.

  • @iscay666 ALL planes are death traps

  • @nothere2 Some worse then others. Then again these days your more likely to die from the drive to the airport then on the plane.

  • i think thats a md-11 becasue isent got that one landing gar in the middle

  • Sad? This plane was hella dangerous,

  • @iloveyourstory Yes, I do agree with you, but if you just look at it without thinking of its major flaws, boy was this a beautiful aircraft.

  • this plane killed concorde!!

  • You guys are thinking of MD-11s

  • RIP CITY OF BELGRADE YU-AMB

  • sad to see a great aircraft go but there still going

  • Great video plz subscribe

  • theres more than just the DC-3, DC-6, DC-8, DC-9 and DC-10... the DC-4 is one, too...

  • on wikapediea it says in service with

    FedEx

    Omni Air International

    World Airways

    Arrow Air

  • where can i get it

  • last time i checked, the dc 10 is still in service}:-(

  • A lot of them have been modernized and put into service with FedEx but a few are still being operated by smaller airlines. The MD-11 on the other hand is still operated for commercial flights with KLM and it's still used a lot where they use their 777s and 747s.

  • @owner8515 it is but for cargo only now the md-11 is the replacement for the dc-10. :)

  • @owner8515 Thats an MD-11. DC-10=NO MORE FLYING

  • @bluepanther1011 Fed Ex still use MD 11's, they have one w/ 2 A310's here @ IAH

  • @NIGHTWHMAN I know. FedEx doesnt use the DC-10s anymore. FedEx MDs are here at SDF.

  • @owner8515 they r no longer making dc-10s

  • @owner8515 youre right; in congo and rwanda they still serve

  • @FSXfan007 Yup!

  • great job...

  • Nice tribute - I always had a thing for a DC-10-30 in the seventies Air New Zealand colours. Used to see them fly in and out of Brisbane in the late seventies.

  • wonderful aircraft!! 5/5

  • My Father flew all of those for American Airlines. He perfered Boeing Jets.

  • is that fsx or something?

  • WWHHYY WWHHYY <XO!

  • dc-10's r not out of business! they still have them!

  • i know fedex, nomiair blangesh air still use them

  • oh okay.

  • @johnairlines8 I dont know why they are awful planes that have cost many people their lifes..

  • @johnairlines8 they r no longer making dc-10s

  • really good video, now i feel sadly too...

  • whats song is this

  • even though the DC10 is retired from commercial stuff, FedEX Express still uses it. for now...

  • all the Fedex Dc10 are now MD10 with fly by wire computer and other stuf, Fedex has all their dc10 pimped up.

  • what traffic program?

  • im leaving from mtl to havana on a CUBANA DC10, hope to arrive in one piece there.

  • a ford pinto with wings.

  • exellent video man, congratulations

  • farewell, yes sir. nice one, ever again :)

  • Air travelers can sigh in relief knowing that this death cruiser is no longer being produced or falling out of the skies.

  • If you do appropriate research, you will find this is one of the most reliable aircraft, adored by almost any pilot who has flown them.

unfortunately, it had a shaky beginning with it's cargo doors. The negative press around AA Flight 191 (and other similar accidents) further tarnished the planes reputation, although the cause of these incidents was due to improper maintenance practices by the airlines.

  • Even though I know they got the bugs out I was still nervous flying those things. The MD-11 was a big improvement.

  • the MD-11 was the big improvement compare to the boeing 747 400 series and the boeing 777, with fly by wire computers, winglets honnywell LCD screens and other good stuff but why don't they use MD11 in service any more?

  • one of the best videos, wonderfoul.muy bien.

  • Comment removed

  • and could you tell me where you got the dc-8 and the dc-9 from. thanks in advance.

  • where did you get the northwest one? and do we have to pay for it?

  • Arrg The L-1011 was much more refined and ten times safer than the DC-10. 5 seats in the middle row, wtf was that all about? Lockheed had it right. I always felt safe on them. Never did on the DC-10 POS. Sorry to rain on your parade brah. They did have great sounding engines though on take off. But nothing beats the 1011 on engine start. Nice video and thanks for posting. Btw, I'm just shittin y'all. The DC 10 was a cool ac. But 1011 still wins me over...

  • the l1011's boring. the dc-10 is a great airplan, simple, a mainenance guys best friend. sorry, i love the DC-10, but i have been on the L1011, werent that good :/

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Con te partirò

  • time to say goodbye

  • Man, I barely see any in the air today but i still see some!

  • there still DC-10 in the air today but there now called MD-10 operated by Fedex. when we went From San Fransisco to hawaii in 1999, we flew on the DC10 operated by SkyService USA, its the biggest plane I ever flew on we had engine problem with our aircraft after hitting a bird so we turned around and headed back to hawaii, for a night and then finally got back to San Frasisco

  • faggot.

  • dc-10 had bad reputation thats why they retire it very soon

  • DC-10 had a bad reputation not because the aircraft itself, but because of Human Related Errors... sinds in the beginning with the cargo door design then improper maintenance procedures. If these were not the case, the DC-10 would have had a better profile.

So to me, Human Related Errors during operating life of this bird made it difficult for her to reach it's goal.

Human Factors had a crucial role in the life of this great airplane & it still does everywhere else.

    Long live the DC-10.

  • I'm sorry i did not know

  • The DC 10 lives on as the MD 11. It looks nearly identical and its a DC 10 with most of the kinks worked out.

  • From what I've heard MD-11 is actually a messed up successor of the DC-10. They reduced the size of the horizontal stabilizer in order to get longer range but this makes the plane very difficult to land.

  • Might wanna talk to some actual pilots on some aviation forums. The MD11 is infinitely better than the DC 10. A small horizontal stabilizer would only make landing difficult in heavy heavy crosswind which is rare.

  • Never having flown the MD-11, my understanding is that is easier to fly, but the characteristics are different - it is not as "seemless" of a transition between the MD-10 (updated DC-10) and the MD-11.

  • By way, I research about those DC-10. The DC-10 has long list of bad accident than Lockheed L-1011. In past there hasn't lot high tech computer to find out what problem, and none 3D computer to create and study to find what need to change, to improve the design. Now, with our high tech computer, we can figure what can do thing to get improve the airplane. I hope there trijet is still flying in 10 years more.

  • So the metal strip that punctured the tire of the Concorde and killed everyone is responsible?

Was I suppose to die in all the times tires exploded on takeoff and landing (3 that I remember)?........no wait, that happened to me while operating WELL-DESIGNED AIRPLANES that a disintegrating tire would not doom the plane. By the way, I fly the MD-11/MD-10 for a living.

  • well 5 minutes before a concrde took off a continetal airlines dc-10 took off and let go a strip of metal witch caused the concorde tire to blow, then a piece of tire hit the engine sparking a fire mixed with jet fuel and concorde crashed. Sorry if I was being rude in my first comment but It is the dc-10s fault.

  • If you don't know the real story about that metal strip, don't blame the DC-10 for the crash. Blame the continental maintenance crew.

    Never heard of Bogus Parts?

  • DC planes are better than Boeing. DC-8/9/10 still in service, the comparable Boeing equipment is mostly retired and no loner airworthy.

  • DC-10 and MD-11 is most pretty planes of all time.

  • i have never rode on one before but i dont plan to because of their safety record...

    p.s. go northwest airlines!

  • maybe all should stay but only new panel and tech

  • i wonder why the MD-11 is being retired

    what is wrong with it

  • Not all of them, most of them are being refitted as freighters and being sold to FeDex and the DC-10 is being reborn as the MD-10.

  • its sad to see the DC-10 and MD-11 sereis slowly disappear of this earth

  • dc-9 sucks so bad look at the ona crash a new plane designed crashes because fuel meter didnt work and captain had no i dea so dc-9 sucks its loud and stupid i like md-11 more md-10 took lots off lifes

  • All the crashes by the DC-9 and

DC-10 (awesome plane) and all the lawsuits from those crashes brought MD to its knees and it was eaten by its rival, Boeing. The MD-11 would have been successful had it not been rushed out, like the DC-10, it was rushed too.

  • With all due respect, but it would be a lot easier for us to read and understand your point if you were to use proper grammer and punctuation.

  • they ended the DC-10 production in 2007 because it had a very bad reputation of crashes...it was very loud and noisy...and took alot of jet fuel...but still, they should have given it a second chance :( ....at least they build the MD-11 to replace it

  • It wasn't necessarily the airplanes' design at fault. The DC-10 and MD-11 were for the most part structurally sound aircraft. Many, if not most, of the crashes were due to improper maintenance and use by the airlines that purchased them. If you were to take a Toyota Camry straight off the new dealer car lot, drain the oil and put a flaming rag in the gas nozzle and proceeded to drive it at red line down the highway, don't be surprised when either the engine seizes or it blows up.

  • REMEMBER FLIGHT 191! that took lives of a lot of people and that was a DC 10. wow man

  • This was the worst designed aircraft that took the lives of hundred of people. Yes, it has been fixed, but at what cost?

A flying coffin. Good ridance. I'm not using fedex, that's for sure!

  • People should not travel or fly. If they want a break from their house, they should go sit in their hometown jail, locked up in a cell for 7-14 days, instead.

  • very nice video. thank you for making it.

  • RIP the MD Victims of flight 981 - who died due to cost savings of McDonnell Douglas who put money before lives !

  • I really like 2s (717,737,757,767,777,787,A300,A310,A320,A330,A350) and 4s (747,A430,707, A380, Tupolev TU-144, Concorde) better than 3s (DC-10, MD-11, L-1011 TriStar)... Cuz' 3s make the tail so heavy. I like 6s abit but now much (An 225).

  • First plane I flew in my life. I was 1 and 1/2 years old. Sabena's DC-10, Brussels to Chicago ORD

  • it was an awesome plane!

  • what game is it

  • its a real shame, the only reason its not flying passengers anymore is because of its bad history, but the problems have been fixed and the newer ones are very safe, i just hope they dons completely go, and fed ex keep using them, thankyou for uploadin this video

  • Why is it being retired that sucks its given us all years of exellent service!

  • We will save many lifes by retire the DC10

  • This plane is really dangeruos , many accidents due to mechanical failures. I have always heard that the DC planes has a lot problems and should not be considered safe . BTW no airplane is safe . Crashes are a matter of fact when it comes to planes. Same thing whit boats that will sink very often . The music is great btw

  • Aww I love this video tribute..Great job...I fly on DC-10's with a charter airline..They're old but they're good planes overall and I've fallen in love with them because they're obsolete except for other charters and Fedex and UPS possibly.

  • how did you spin round the camera at the dc-9?

  • This is my favorite wide-body jet design..better than Lockheed Tri-Star...but I thought they upgraded it to MD-11? Thank you for posting!!

  • Those airplanes lokk nice but they are terrible they hve problems like swiss air flight 111 that was a DC 10 dont say goodbye KLM is still flying them.

  • They have the same amount of incidents propotionally as the 747. All the flaws that caused a few incidents early on have been fixed. Its just as safe as a 747 to fly on or pilot.

  • You shouldn't be sad, it retired because it wasn't good enought to compete with other Jumbos and even with Mcdonnel Douglas trying to make it better the produce the MD-11 but it was only longer and bigger with also winglets on the wings. The company really didn't think of making a Glass Cockpit for the DC-10. That made it an unsuccesful product. You see the 747 was the same case but Boeing knew that to make it more popular it needs a glass cockpit. So that made the DC-10 look worse than others.

  • the md-11 and the dc-10 shared a fuselage. the wings, engines, and systems were all different. and BTW the MD-11 was a glass cockpit before the 747, even before the 777 (in fact 3 of the 4 747 variants aren't glass) glass cockpits weren't even a term when the DC-10 came into service

  • The DC-10's where real dangerous planes.

  • true but later on they upgraded it and made it more safer!

  • the reason that DC-10 out of airline service because they had lots of problem it rides tareble, I flew on that plane to hawaii once, but we had engine problem so we turned around and landed back. the DC-10 are a piece of shit I hate this plane

  • You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Best plane, best game and best song = Best video ever on youtube! :D

  • nice man u posted this the day before fsx came outi bet the next day u ran to the store to get fsx

  • Comment removed

  • the song is "con te partiro"

  • This is my favorite aircraft, i say this is a nice tribute, but are you sure they are retireing the dc-10. I know it has a troubled reputation but still. btw, just out of curiousity, how did you find out it was going out of service. please respond, i want to see those articles. And if this is true, very nice farewell tribute, and if it isn't true, just change your title ro "dc-10 tribute".

  • What is the song

  • nice vid.. 1 thing tho..did u use a delta callsign for the atc?

  • Nice work HADC10, most of the modern pilot says that DC-10 was one of the most reliable metal ever they flew. It is sad to see them rest at the graveyard.

  • nice plane

  • My first flight was on an AA DC10 back in the late 1970s, I was a baby at the time, but thanks too my mother like for AA I have flown on DC10s many of times to ORD and DFW.

  • Nice Video but don't say good bye to the DC-10s just yet they still have a lot of fight in them in real world and in FS2004 i fly DC-10s for FedEx and United and yes they have a history but any DC-10 can work right if the pilot and airport crew know what they are doing!! the only other plane that i have seen or used that is as good or better is the Boeing 777-200LR

  • On January 8, 2007 Northwest Airlines retired its last remaining DC-10 being used for scheduled passenger service, replacing it with an Airbus A330 for a route between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Honolulu.

  • Fed Ex is upgrading their fleet of DC-10 aircraft to MD-10 status. It is most likely that Fed Ex will keep their MD-10s for some time until an airplane manufacturer designs a medium range, widebody freighter to replace the DC-10.

  • The DC-10 has a very poor saftey record. One of the worst of all aircraft. The lockheed l1011 tristar was a way better aircraft.

  • So does the DC-9.

  • Despite its troubled beginnings in the 1970s, the DC-10 ultimately proved a reliable aircraft, much loved by engineers and pilots. The original DC-10-10's notorious safety record continuously improved as design flaws were ironed out and fleet hours increased. In fact, the DC-10's lifetime safety record as of 2003 is comparable to similar second-generation passenger jets.[6] Increased inspections and modifications made the DC-10 among the safest aircraft for passenger travel.

  • great great aircraft

  • first jumbo

  • ive allways wonted 2 fly dat plane

  • I dont like this aircraft a lot. Ill explain why - On 25th july, 2000, the DC-10 Destroyed the greatest, fastest, most graceful aircraft ever. Concorde.

  • Did U know that it was not the first time that the Concorde had a tire blow out? There was a time that an AF Concorde had a tire blow out on take off From Washington & It Landed safely. The Designers knew sinds then of the Fault & did not fixed until after the Paris crash when it killed people. Concorde was also a great aircraft, but such mistakes like these are common in most Aircrafts fate. incl the DC-10.

  • Don't Blame The DC-10's, they were & is still a great plane, it was human error that led to the most incidents when cargo doors blew open in flight. They knew & didn't fix it until it killed people in Turkish Airlines flight 981. Also the American Airlines flight 191 crash (due to improper maintenance) that sealed it's fate!

Almost all incidents with the DC-10 were human related, some that even let to Aircraft Failure. So don't blame any aircraft.

  • No, the DC-10 has already crashed about 55 times, SHAME ON MCDONALD DOUGLAS!!

  • Not 100% shame on McDonnell Douglas.

Check This site: wikipedia . org / wiki / DC-10.

Most of the 55 incidents incl 30 hull-losses were not totally his fault, only before till after THY981.

The rest were improper maintenance (AAL191), Fatigue (UAL232), poor weather conditions & over run the runway (many), RTO (many), Fire (2), improper navigation (ANZ901), Bomb on Board (UTA772) & Bogus Parts (Concorde crash)

Some DC-10 crashes were completely avoidable, & some of those sealed its fate!

  • excellant song at the start

  • to be exactly 77 planes from mdconnel douglas were crashed and kild like 1800 people

  • Something like 29 of them crashed. The ones in the skys in the early 70's, their cargo doors were so terrible that two in two years had accidents due to the decompression when the doors fell off. A piece of metal from one even caused the Concorde crash.

This plane does not deserve a tribute.

  • i totally agree with you

  • douglas could save his buiseniss but he was to stupid to do nothing about the md-10 thats why HE kild more then 300 people freaking ***

  • cry for the DC-10 sadly they r broken up

  • whats the difference between a DC-10 and an MD11? they look the exact same to me

  • first the MD11 has winglets while the DC10 doesnt. The MD11 also has a glass cockpit

  • WHAT IS THE NAME OF

    THE SONG.

  • Andrea Bocelli- Time To Say Goodbye

  • Hey a girls singing this, isn't it a great awesome man who can sing really powerful?

  • Yes indeed... Adrea Bocelli sings this wonderful song with Sarah Brightman.

  • I LOVE THAT AIRPLANE

    REPLY ME PLEASE.

  • 3 holers like this and the L-1011 will be missed for sure...I flew the DC-10 with Viasa, Avensa and Santa Barbara airlines and all those flights were smooth and safe!

  • time to say goodbye

  • You know why fedex uses them? because only 2 people will die instead of hundreds

  • Federal Express uses these planes because they fit right in to their requirements for an aircraft that can carry a lot of cargo over medium distances. Most of their aircraft come from airlines who have replaced or retired their fleet of DC-10s. Also, they can be upgraded with a glass cockpit. DC-10s are very safe now due to revisions in the design.

  • SAD?!?!?! This is very good they are retired, they are dangerous and have a stupid design, HEY EVERYBODY LETS MAKE A THREE ENGINED AIRPLANE WITH ONE ENGINE ON THE TAIL. What were the designers thinking, DC-10s have killed hundreds of people

  • That's bullshit, the crashes were due mostly to human error (AA191 - wrong procedure engine change which leaded to left engine pylon damage) and Turkish Airlines Flight 981 (an airport employee had forced the door shut, weakening the locking pin and causing the door to blow out as the plane reached altitude). I suggest you to do some research before you speak.

  • Its still a stupid design though

  • And let me tell you somethin' else: Lockheed L-1011, Boeing 727 and Tupolev Tu-154 have an engine in the tail too, and you still say they have a stupid design? They were very succesful aircraft at their time!

  • DC10's are flying tanks, what has gone wrong wont go wrong again.

  • Yeah but plenty things hav't gone wrong yet

  • Its called tombstone technology, what will go wrong has gone wrong. I spent 2 years working as an engineer on them and as far as im concerned they are perfectly safe now.
