This is one of the GREATEST southern Gospel songs and performances of all time. I was there in the Georgia Dome in June 1998 when it was the largest southern Gospel concert of all time.
I agree with you! I miss the hymns. I am not a fan of the watered down weak theology contemporary fluff and stuff. Much of it is so generic. It could pass for secular love songs. The Hoppers always put solid theology in all their songs.
I remember on the day I got saved...after church I got into my car and when I turned the radio on there it was Shoutin' Time by the Hoppers. What a way to continue that awesome feeling!!!!

Such a great song and the spirit you feel watching it was there that day too. I had the pleasure of being at the Georgia Dome the day this was recorded. A lot of great singers have since went on to Shouting in Heaven. JD Sumner, Hovie Lister, Jake Hess, Big Jim Hamill, Eldridge Fox, Howard and Vestal Goodman, Rex Nelon and Anthony Burger have all since left this world for Shouting Time in Heaven.
On the new Hopper video they tell that the reason why Kim had to hold that note so long starting at 7:00 was that they had already taken their backup track out of the player and were getting ready to leave for another concert when bill ask them to do it again. Kim had to wait for them to get the cd back in the player and cued up to that part. But she handled it like the pro she is. Dean called it her "camanche call".

@bigbenforever1 The Hoppers ae what is known as progressive southern gospel. Many southern gospel groups use drums in their ministry. It is time for people to stop fretting over drums. Psalms is full of percussion instruments. Just praise God whether it is with a drum or without.

What happened to southern gospel music like this? We do not sing out of the hymnals at our churches anymore. Our songs are scrolled on the walls. I can remember walking into the church and you can feel the power of God as you enter the doors! I was not even a christian back then! It seems like our church services now are in such a hurry that God cannot work. Lets get back to the good ole days and worship God like we used to!

I believe we are losing such a rich wealth of Worship by putting the hymns to the side in favor of entertaining to draw people. I am not sure what bible they read, but mine says if you preach the Word it will not return void (paraphrase) and those hymns preached the word better than some preachers!
@redneck452004 i know im olny 17 but i can reminber when we went too church it starte around 9 and we didnt get out till like 11 but now where olny in church for like an hour but we still use the hymnals im free will baptists and other churches like rs have changed too :( its a shame but i dont go to church no more :(

We let the world in...the Church was not meant for the world...but somewhere along the way we wanted to make the world comfortable...and not feel like they are in church...so we made it feel more comfy for them....you know...trade out the pews for chairs...get rid of the hymnals...remove the pulpit...and God forbid an alter call! Anointed preachers now sit in the congregation and were replaced by college grads looking for a career.
