I never got it either. I guess it is a way of showing someone that you are there. You know like when you walk up to someone to poke them from behind before they know you are there? I use to get those all the time too. I am not on FACEBOOK anymore, takes up too much valuable "real life" time. It's awesome to see a video from you.
