I saw Leonard Cohen in concert this past May in Waterbury, CT. They played this song and ever since then its become my favorite song. What a great jazzy tune - the sax player was phenomenal. Leonard ROCKS!!!

Some years ago Cohen gave away all he owned och gave up his consumption life and moved to Tibet seeking for greater meaning and the truth way... Years later when he came back from his jurny he wrote this song among others on his Ten New Songs album. Every word weigh as gold...

No, Factional, he didn't move to Tibet. He entered the Zen monastery on Mt Baldy in California to be with his old friend Roshi. He didn't give away anything: his manager stole it from him while he was in the monastery.

And now he's touring Europe to get some money back... When I was at one of his concerts, I was looking out for a T-shirt saying something like 'I helped pay Leonard Cohen's finance bills' or something...

He actually cares little about money. When he went into the monastary (for quite a while) his manager who had power of attorney over his whole estate, ripped him off completely.

I mean cleaned him out and stole royalties, the whole 9yrds.

He had to do the tour to get back in control of his life......and even he was surprised at the responce......that's why it got continued, and will be repeated.

Good luck to him.........he deserves to have comfortable life.
