We sometimes hear things in sports like "The Catch" (Joe Montana to Dwight Clark in 1982), "The Drive" (John Elway and the Denver Broncos over Cleveland in 1987), etc. Well at 0:05, as far as I'm concerned, we've got "The Save." I say this because (1) Lerg's save was just RIDICULOUS, (2) it was undoubtedly a turning point in this game in terms of momentum and (3) it ultimately led to a national championship. If Lerg doesn't make that save, MSU doesn't win the title; it's that simple.

I watched this game from my apartment in Philly on my 28th birthday. As an MSU alumnus (Class of 2001), I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present. That Lerg save was AMAZING...definitely the turning point in this one. GO STATE!

That's weird cause I watched this game from my apartment in Philly too! I also used to watch the Sabres beat up on the Flyers all the time, lol. Interestingly enough, Kennedy (from Buffalo, who scored the game tying goal and assisted on the game winner in OT) is now a Sabre. Gotta give props to the rest of the guys though, that class was amazing.

You have to be fucking retarded. Muse was a senior in Prep School, at Noble & Greenough, during the 06-07 season, when this happened. The goalie here was Corey Schneider, a junior, who would leave school that summer, signing with Vancouver (he's still in the AHL) to make room for Muse getting the starting position as a freshman in 07-08, and missing out on the 08 National Title, which Muse won. You shouldn't feel bad for Muse.

Shortest championship game ever! (ok, technically, it was a 60-minute game, but they didn't really play that final 1.2 seconds ;-) ).

Phenomenal game to be at. Lerg changed the entire game with that glove save on Boyle, and the game-winner was incredible. Ticked me and my friends off, though, as we were hoping for OT - we didn't want to see the season end!

Oh, and it's really too bad this video has to be tainted by that d-bag handing the trophy to MSU...couldn't someone edit him out?

This year MSU shouldn't surprise anybody ... but they're better. Only 1 of 6 leading scorers have graduated - Freshmen AJ Sturges and Jeff Petrie will be monsters at the blue line, and watch out for young phenom Dustin Gazely! He's got Kennedy's speed.

Captain Brian Lerg on the SECOND line means there's an awful lot of points to be put up this year! It really says a lot about a hockey program when UM says goodbye to four all-CCHA underclassmen and MSU manages to hang on to its best.

Yeah, I was sort of worried going into this game. BC is traditionally a great hockey hockey school and they were on a 13-game winning streak. MSU wasn't necessarily on fire, except that their games leading up to the BC game were Boston University (huge upset), #1 Notre Dame, and Maine (which eliminated us last year).
