@crimsonlove06 Yes they have! There's a new series 99.9% confirmed to be going into production in November, for broadcast on Dave early next year. Craig Charles mentioned it before he was supposed to so Robert Llewellyn went into detail about it on his Blog, then retracted it all, saying; "I wasn't supposed to say anything! Nothing's been confirmed yet!" So watch this space. There's certainly a new series WRITTEN at least, that much is confirmed. Dave commissioned DN to write it months ago. :)

This song is so perfectly matched to the show. Out of context it sounds so happy, but in the context of the show, it's so melancholic, because those tropical beaches are gone forever, and Lister will never ever get there. The setting of Red Dwarf is an inescapable hell, and that is a great setting for a sitcom.

I love this, but has anyone noticed that certain episodes for example "Marooned" and "Polymorph" use a different version of the end tune, which I much prefer.

It's very hard to notice, if you're not listening out for it you'd think it's exactly the same, the way it's being played and sung is different.

The music has a lot more power in it and the singer (who's the same) is really going for it this time.

This version is more polished, but I still love it though.

It's still all about story and characterization. You can throw a bunch of good looking people together and make them have love/hate relationships with each other, and that might work for a certain demographic, but that's what sets Britcoms ahead of the pack. They have engaging characters that you watch for more than their looks. This show succeeds in spite of its spacey gimmicks because it had great characters, endearing characters.

Reminds me of the glory days... I absolutely love Red Dwarf, I grew up with it and worshipped it, but I just don't think Doug Naylor is any good by himself. I think the show needs both Grant AND Naylor to be as awesome as it used to be. Shame that'll never happen again.

The reliance on pop culture references in Back to Earth really killed it for me... this show had such a great sense of self-contained, unique comedy and rarely had to rely on references in the first 6 seasons.

The new Red Dwarf apparently takes place after what would be series 10, but series 9 hasn't even been made. It's Doug's way of adding closure without having to explain too much, PLUS it adds more of an opportunity for series 9 and 10 to be made. XD
