This Movie/ TOMMY Album, was so ahead of its time.
Tells quite the story, lol abusive, controlling, sexual deviant parents!!!
Hear No, Speak No......................lol
The story holds so much truth, I can only imagine the feedback they got when the producers first heard this, I wonder did they contemplate banning or mature audiences only.
LanaBacana makes it seem like it's Elton John's performance. Well, it ain't! Of course, it wouldn't be the same without dear Elton, but he can't get all the honer. It's The Who's musical, and their musik.
@c350Zee on the recording, it's Elton John's band performing (Davey Johnstone, Dee Murrary, Nigel Olssen, Ray Cooper ... classic EJ lineup of the early/mid 1970s)
@cass273 The Who wrote the song, wrote the musical, wrote the entire thing and played it all, they just got Elton in to sing this song for the movie (cause they couldn't have one of the other Who members doing it)
@MisterAleksandr That was my reaktion to! It's their musical. I love Elton John, but he dosen't deserve all the honer. He is, after all, just featuring.
- But still, Elton rocks! (Just not as much as The Who)
ok, this movie was sort of cornball, not the best piece of cinematography. And Elton's pinball machine with the piano keyboard is sorta whacky. But this version of the song is awesome. Better than any version the Who did (which is good too). But Elton's band and producer Gus Dudgeon did a great job recording this song.
Is this really The Who backing Elton here? It's obviously a different version of the song than the one released on record and it sounds like Pete Townsends guitar during parts of the song.
@1958TA On the original album of "tommy" released in the 1960,s the who sang this song when the album was made into a film the who got a load of famous people and played the music while they sang. You should check out "tommy" its a great film with a load of famous 70,s musicians in it singing songs.
i think i should prob burn in hell for going along with the chat theme and talking gaga vs madonna on a GD elton video.. but my 2 cents. madonna was just some out of nowhere chick... lady gaga had an army of brilliant creative types w/ her. that shit didnt come along til way later for madonna she had that whole true blue song and shit that had to sell before they really gave her cash to do stuff. whereas gaga walked in went i sing i dance i look like a tranny... and the rest is history.
I've loved the song for a long time, but this is the first time I've seen an actual scene from the movie. I pictured Tommy being a lot younger and not having such a weirded out expression.
What the hell is this? I don't know HOW I ended up here but I haven't felt this stoned watching a movie since the Mr. Kite number in Across the Universe or, well, any number in the Wiz. Consider my mind blown.
Having smashed up a guitar, I can tell you this- Its not safe, there are sharp bits and stuff under tension which can cut and hit you hard in the face. quite hazardous.
I'm glad I didn't liver during nthis decade with blind and deaf people playing pinball and Elton john wore retarded glasses three times the size of him
@ConnorG56 Oh the real deal, Roger Daltrey. Don't know if youv'e heard of Frank Simes, but he was the awesome guitarist. Pete Townsends younger brother was on guitar too. Robert Plant was in the audience-gutted I didn't see him, only a few rows away! :(
I made my dad watch the movie with me, because he loves Elton's verson of this song, and whenever it showed Elton, he would laugh so hard! He introduced this version to me before I saw the movie, and as soon as it showed Elton, he said "Welcome to the 70's." I replied with "you're so lucky to have been there."
Keith is going crazy on the drums, Pete is jumping around the stage with his guitar, Roger is doing the best acting of his life, STILL John kepps playing his bass in a corner, without making a move!!! Gotta love him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, its the who. Of course they have way too much money. Metallica could do the same thing (except most of their good songs are stolen, so it wouldnt matter anyway).
