Actually, i have driven an STi. it was an 07. Didn't get to take it out of 4th, other than low rpm cruising in 6th, but it wasnt bad to shift. The short throw of it was different from my mustang's, but it was a cinch otherwise. Im no expert, but i didnt feel i needed anything other than the feel of where the stick was to shift.
Sometimes you want to downshift and you want to skip a gear, say go from 6 to 4 and end up putting it back in the same gear, or visa versa. If I've gotten on it to get on the freeway or something, and hit I dunno, like 5k or something in 4th, I don't really need to go to 5th. Give it 20k miles, then you'll see what I'm talking about.
Yea you'll see that it is so much easier and more comfortable to drive a import than a domestic mustang's,corvettes, gto suspension has no give it will beat you to death and the clutch on all v8's are 50ft long and it so hard to tell where gears are enless u are use to it cause half the time the bend the shifter to try and make it easier to drive when really it makes it more difficult.
@causalloop Dunno what STI 6spd you drove...vague is hardly how I'd describe the one i had, direct, clearly defined gates, never ever one missed shift. I think it can feel more vague if your still running stock engine and transmission mounts, I ran the Group N pieces.
We know that- Causalloop and i were discussing an STi's 6 speed shifter STOCK. Why dont you look around a little bit before you make a ignorant comment.
What over company makes Dog engagement systems? PPG is just to damn expensive.

andrewtech makes the trannies very strong if your going to make big power on a wrx, they look pretty hard to drive but obivously youll get used to it

Hey, where'd you get the gear indicator? I've been looking for one for a while. Will it work with non-sequential shift trannys?
causalloop 3 years ago
If you actually drive with a manual, you should know exactly which gear you are in just by how the stick is positioned.

If you actually drove a sti with a 6 speed you'd know how vague the shifting can be.

I still love it. I'm just looking to improve it ;-)

haha... that seems to be how it is for most. There is always something that can go bigger, better or faster on a toy.
