well since the genre "progressive" doesn't actually have anything to do with the music that's associated with it ( your popular opinion of what it is) i would say this list is very uninspiring. but the material here is great. :)

An interesting selection ArtOfPhire, as an old prog-head who's been into prog since the late 70s it's interesting to hear what some newer bands are doing, definitely going to look up some of these. Oh and for those who say some of these aren't prog, progressive rock is a broad church and perhaps they should reflect on the meaning of the word 'progressive'; going forward, pushing the boundaries and change.
I love how a lot of people are saying "This isn't prog rock" when in reality, you can't really define prog rock. It's just too broad of a genre. Let's just say that the songs provided in this list have heavy progressive qualities in them.
Whoever made this obviously has limited knowledge of the Mars Volta. Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt has probably 5 of the top 10 best musical moments in it. The rest are in Day of the Baphomets and Tetragrammaton and Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore.

Should have read "My Top 10 etc". Nice to see PT and Green Carnation. A couple of the bands sound like Spock's Beard wannabies. The uploader needs to broaden their horizon to give a true top 10 with artists such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, ELP, Spock's Beard, Kansas, Styx, King Crimson, Tool, Meshuggah, Camel, Caravan, Transatlantic and others before giving a true top 10.
If you read my comment, your list should have said MY top ten blah blah blah, you would have understood what I said. It is not about cliches, but the groups I listed do have better albms than some of the stuff you have shown. Some of the groups mentioned, I have never heard of and bet most other people have not either. I listened again and you are spot on with the PT and Mars Volta. I must admit I am intrigued by Myrath and will give them a listen.
Do you understand that, no matter what, this is all subjective? It's opinion. You telling me that some other band's music is better then my band's music doesn't make it so. If you want a list that has the same bands posted over and over again, then fine - there's plenty of those videos around YouTube. Go watch those and just leave this unique one alone.

An interesting selection ArtOfPhire, as an old prog-head who's been into prog since the late 70s it's interesting to hear what some newer bands are doing, definitely going to look up some of these. Oh and for those who say some of these aren't prog, progressive rock is a broad church and perhaps they should reflect on the meaning of the word 'progressive'; going forward, pushing the boundaries and change.

I love how a lot of people are saying "This isn't prog rock" when in reality, you can't really define prog rock. It's just too broad of a genre. Let's just say that the songs provided in this list have heavy progressive qualities in them.

Whoever made this obviously has limited knowledge of the Mars Volta. Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt has probably 5 of the top 10 best musical moments in it. The rest are in Day of the Baphomets and Tetragrammaton and Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore.

Should have read "My Top 10 etc". Nice to see PT and Green Carnation. A couple of the bands sound like Spock's Beard wannabies. The uploader needs to broaden their horizon to give a true top 10 with artists such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, ELP, Spock's Beard, Kansas, Styx, King Crimson, Tool, Meshuggah, Camel, Caravan, Transatlantic and others before giving a true top 10.

If you read my comment, your list should have said MY top ten blah blah blah, you would have understood what I said. It is not about cliches, but the groups I listed do have better albms than some of the stuff you have shown. Some of the groups mentioned, I have never heard of and bet most other people have not either. I listened again and you are spot on with the PT and Mars Volta. I must admit I am intrigued by Myrath and will give them a listen.
