Interesting. I'm actually quite curious as to how you managed to do Ray Tracing with LSL... As far as I know, there are no functions for finding the color of a specific point. How DID you do it? O.o
ray tracing is a technique for generating an image. the quality is so high that it actually looks real if used correctly. however, because of this photorealism quality, it requires an ass load of computing power and modern day consoles and even PC's aren't capable of handling ray tracing to full potential. look up some more on it, it's really interesting. the graphics will literally make your jaw drop; too bad we won't be seeing it any time soon in gaming.
True it did take 3 ps3's to run that demo. But Each ps3 was only using 2 SPU's out of the 6 SPU'S available on a single ps3. So that demo could have been rendered in realtime on a single ps3 if those people had a ps3 SDK (dev kit) to program for all spus.
I think i speak for everyone when i say "what the fuck is this shit?!!!"

OK thanks I will check some videos on youtube.

lol it takes 3 ps3 consoles just to render a car in a small enviroment.
This is the video PS3 Real-time Ray-tracing its on right.
Interleap 3 years ago
this ain't the same video but i know what you're talking about. one video has six, another has 3.
however, i heard that killzone 2 supports a little bit of ray tracing although i doubt it.

The lights in Killzone 2 look so nice.

true, i love the lighting in the game.

Very cool! Someone should compile a collection of Mono demo vids, already (incl. Conway's Game of Life and the Mazes ones which've been circulated).

yes nice show where do you pick one up at in game?
AWPPoductions 3 years ago
Wow, this is great!
sldanielvoyager 3 years ago
Yes, the LSL script is doing the ray tracing on the simulator and then changing the colours of the 70x70 grid of cubes that make up the display.
JimPurbrick 3 years ago
Just to be clear, you're using the server to raytrace, and then throw the pixels onto a big array of prims?
AySz88 3 years ago
Very nice demo sir.
TenebrousPau 3 years ago
Mono is first, then LSL the colours are randomly assigned by the ray tracer.
JimPurbrick 3 years ago
So which is which? And what accounts for the color variation?
