  • Wtf?! is it just me or is there like a fuckin chipmuck voice under the vocals? listen at around 2.18

    God save Queen!!

  • Gente ,io c'ero a questo favoloso concerto !!!!

  • i can't believe its live. he's like supernaturally talented. that voice

  • 2:06 LMAO Brian was totally like wtf!

  • Great!

  • he was shy in his private life, but on the stage he was god

  • 2:05 Brian didn´t see that coming :))

  • I'll probably piss someone off when I say this ,but he looks way better without mustache. Then again the stache is alright

  • Band all on top form here, Freddie's vocals spot on too!!

  • increible queen, que gran banda!!

  • Best live there is 101% perfect.

  • japanese translation is like... completely another song

  • Nowadays with instant pop idols and heavily-layered studio tracks, we are seeing less and less amazing talents like this one

  • Freddy is good as always but Bryan sure fuck up the end guitar solo.

  • I can barely believe this is a live version. It's simply PERFECT!

  • What the fuck is that chipmunk sound?!

  • @carooomargheee it's Alvin himself singin on backstage :)

  • @ilgiarno

    ahaha probably

  • Best moment at 2:20 when Freddie sits down and plays the hell out of the piano, showing the world that he's a real musician.

  • Is that a kazoo I hear?

  • On the same plateau with Michael Jackson,Freddie was almost larger than life,a God walking the Earth,RIP you two, always in our hearts.

  • arcadata, if you have the full video, I would buy it from you. I have never been able to find this footage. And I have been searching for over 20 years!! Cliff

  • Who appear in the last second of the video? Phantons?

  • this is his best haircut ever! :D

  • Newcastle (12/3/1979) has a more impressive version of this song: Freddie nails every note.

  • freddie's got skilllss!

  • I'm not gay but i would have sex with him.. i mean if he wanted to and all.. heh! a rock god at its fineist!

  • i think freddie sings better when he is not playing the piano.. i think thats quiet normal

  • brian may on piano or guitar...still great :-)

  • So incredible even with a chipmunk singing backwards ;)

Btw Freddie's voice sounds almost like the one on the studio take of this song.

    Love it.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL at 1:48 it sounds like a chipmunk singing along with Freddie, Brian is not singing, only playing the piano! XD

  • Freddie is beauitful.

  • totaly amazing!!!

  • Is that Justin Bieber singing along with him at 1:48?

  • I believe so. He was -15 at this concert.

  • @Gregsynthbootlegs and his voice hasn't changed since

  • Isn't that terrible?! LOL

  • @thebiggestqueenfan No, whoever is singing, sings better than Justin Bieber with no doubt XD

  • @thebiggestqueenfan WTF thought you the biggestqueenfan, its the one and only BRIAN MAY playing piano. Brian is by far a much better singer than justin bieber!!!!.

  • save me, Save me, SAAAAAAVEE ME!!

  • @TheConstruct - you're right, from watching bits like that all throughout their career I get the feeling that Bri all along thought that Freddie was a weirdo and didn't really like him that much as a person, although he obviously respected his talent and worked closely together with him in the band... all in all it seems Rog and Freddie were great friends, John and Freddie also got to be close over the years, but Bri and Freddie... not really. that's my impression anyway.

  • @etolpygo It could also be because Brian has to get over to microphone to start singing backing vocals and because he has to get to his effects pedals also. Talk about reading into things.

  • @nikican i reckon its defo for the mic

  • @etolpygo I tried to post excerpts from Brian's interviews that stated how Freddie's death - along with some other things that happened in his life at approximately the same time - sent him into severe depression, but they were too long. If you just google "brian may freddie death depression" you'll finds lots.

  • @etolpygo Complete and utter shit. Why would Brian give that much thought to Freddie on stage? So he's played to thousands and thousands but the only thing Brian has on his mind is to keep a good distance from that life long 'weirdo' of a friend? Freddie? I know you're only stating your impression, and that's good but this is mine.

  • @etolpygo the key thing is bri/fred were (musical) rivals and had very different ideas of where to take their music. bri had hard time adapting to hot space genre, fred went out on limbs not caring for what Queen should sound like. rog's typical phrase is "(this thing) is not really us". their folk song rehearsal for budapest showed fred didn't concede easily to bri's approval either. just headstrong people. bri certainly praised fred more after '91, & threw in "paul rodgers is his idol":D

  • @etolpygo bri/fred musical rivalry is probably more complicated than it looks. they obviously need each other to create the best (barring Barcelona LOL) but work so differently - fred gets ideas quickly or "schemes" a long time obsessively. bri takes ages, a meticulous scientist. fred shines so much people forget bri's importance, but fred's voice is best w/ bri's tone. john was ready to be adoring & needed fred's voice, rog ready to party together, bri? uncanny rapport w/ fred in songwriting.

  • wtf is with the chipmunk effect?

  • Look at 2:06 @ the way Brian moves away from Freddy as soon as he senses him close to him or behind him. guess he didn't like him getting too close or into his personal space while performing.

  • @TheConstruct

bullshit, brian moves away becouse it's his turn to make the chorus, look at the way he goes to the microphone

I've seen in others concerts how freddie sings too close to brian, and he doesn't get away. I think they were friends

  • @marianlub2570 Look at 2:07!!! The way he takes a quick look at him and then practically moves quickly!! He didn't have to go like that to get to the mike.

  • @TheConstruct it's been said rifts started definitely from The Game on, maybe as early as Jazz. Freddie's stage presence overwhelmingly dominant by '79. Several times he gave "directives" like "it's all yours" when not really necessary. Lest we conjecture too much, it's rather stepping on toes of each other than whatever "deeper" going on . Brussels '79 interview had lots of eye-rolling & not all directed at the interviewer!

  • Did they take the music video for this from this concert, or something similar? it would be cool to see the source of that. Do they have the dove fly by him at the end?

  • thank you Freddy

  • freddie was so amazingly talented....he was blessed.

  • i was 10 in 79.sure miss those days and freddie 2

  • when it comes to VOICE...only FREDDIE'S the best... :D

  • in my opinion he smoked in the 70s too, but not so much, instead in the 80s he became a true smoker and his voice got worse

  • This was just a preview of the magnific performance of Save Me from Montreal Show...you can look fot it here. Amazing!!!

  • Perfection!

  • Banda show de bola, Freddie Mercury magnifico!!! SBC-SP BR 29-12-09

  • how i love u, how i cried..... each night i cry

  • chitmunk voice at 3:34 - 3:39???

  • o yeah it was roger!!

  • when he got his mustache his voice got rougher

  • @handel1111 That's because he starts smoking then.

  • i can't believe this is live it's just too good!!!

  • Freddie's voice at this time still retained the tone from the early Queen albums. In the eighties, however, his voice was roughened due to his heavy smoking habit. This is evident in the Magic Tour concert in Wembley. I don't know how he managed to correct that by the time of the Mr Bad Guy recording and The Miracle album.

  • The Mr. Bad Guy album was released a year before wembley. He stopped smoking by 1990 to 1. Clean up his voice for Innuendo, and 2. Because his AIDS was getting into the further stages.

  • 2.07 XD why did Brian walk away so quickly?

FREDDIE, fairy tales of yesterday will grow, but never die!!

  • the reason why we're talking of high notes here is because that's the proof of how great Freddie was or is....LONG LIVE THE QUEEN (BAND)!

  • "I love you til I die"

  • Wow!!! I love it!!!

I don't care if Freddie touches C5 or whatever.....All I know is that he touches my heart! He's the greatest ever!!!

    FREDDIE FOREVER!!!!!!

  • Great Freddie!!!!!!!!

  • This gonna be released soon on official DVD!

  • What do you mean "There is a playback"? I don't understand, it's live, isn't it?:) Or do you mean something else?Perhaps my English is not good enough.. :)

  • i think it's the guitar pedal of Brian

  • there is a playback but sounds like an octave thing set to thicken the vocals in certain parts didnt work just sounded funny lol freddie vocal beautiful though

  • this is a really C5 and he dosent need the rogers falseto anytime. just perfect

  • where is the C5?

    thanx

  • Why are all people talking about highnotes? I'm getting tired of it.. Anyway, you are right. There's no C5 like on the album. But, he is touching C5 very very quick about 3:16.. Still, it's not the same as on the album. On the album he is pitcing it on Brian's solo for much longer time.

    Regards

  • 3:16 and 3:27 are both B5, the high falsetto note during Brians solo on the album is a D6, one of his highest.

  • holy fuck this is probably the best live vocals of any song of any band of any singer EVER. ITS BEAUTIFUL! <3

  • best singer and best song ever made!!!

ps: look at Garry Mullen he is the best imitator off Freddy (his voice is also perfect)

  • they say freddies vocal on save me from

montrial in 81 is the best

    well this vocal is fantastic

  • He is by far the most sexiest man I have

ever seen. He exudes so much sexual energy, but he has so much heart and it shows right thru very strongly.

  • hahahaha at 2:05 Brian seem he scarred from freddie and ran away LOL...... Fantastic song

  • OMG that made me laugh XD

Brian's like "NUUUUU" and ran away like Freddie had cooties or something. X3

  • this was clearly a band before their time....

  • This can drive you to tears!

  • i believe this was the first performance of this song live

  • Best performance of Save Me.

  • Sounds exactly as the one they recorded for the CDs

    you know what I mean

  • great song is about my marriage

  • GREAT SONG, GREAT SINGER

  • Freddie Mercury - the GOD!

  • whatdy'a know...Sledge is here...

  • I don't hear anything wrong with any of it.

  • i like the solo... it beautifull!!!

  • He did screw it up. But what do you mean it used to drive Mercury insane? He commented on May screwing up the Save Me solo?

  • Screw the Somebody to Love solo? Unthinkable! That one I think is one of the most beautiful solos I've ever heard. And the live versions of it contain excellent guitar work!! I think Mercury was wrong...

  • ¿como luego pueden atreverse a decir que no es el mejor cantante de la historia?

  • Feddie Mercury... The best singer

  • "To Start again with somebody new.."

    Sencillamente increíble

Hasta pareciera que hace Playback hahah

    Increíble la voz de Freddie

  • raro que la toquen ese año

  • so good song! i love it!

  • Freddies voice sounds sooo perfect in this, truly amazing!

On 2:05 did Freddie mean to scare Brian? HAHAHA!! Did he scare him or did it just look that way because you can vaugely see Brian smiling after he runs away, oh well hehehe.

  • LOL. Maybe he got startled and thought he'd move to avoid tangling with Freddie. As for Freddie's voice, isn't his voice always perfect anyway?

  • True! It IS always perfect! :)))

  • Actually it seems like that he had to move to his microphone to sing the backing vocals.

  • does anyone else notice the weird high pitch vocal that appears in this song? still, this is definitely their most impeccable performance of this song available on the net and what a beautiful song it is.

  • Yes I did! I did notice the strange high pitch voice. It kind of sounds like Alvin And The Chipmunks singing XD

*No offence to Freddie because I wasnt talking about him, I was talking about the chipmunk hahaha!*

  • I think that the microphone was made to distort his voice and make the chipmunk sound. It is absolutely awesome though.

  • Yea what is with that? That is weird?

  • i love this song..

  • It's funny how Freddie sounds beautiful here but in the same concert his voice seems a bit tired in You're My best friend. lovely anyway

  • Ahhhhh, when Freddie can reach the high notes, it makes such a world of difference. What a great show by all!

  • Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside ;)

but still i love this song!!!!!!

  • Freddie makes it look so easy to sound like an angel.

  • Cool Brian May on Piano. I knew he played it but I never knew he played it for this song. This is a beautiful song.

  • che performance... mi inchino

  • que gran grupo, que gran voz, sin lugar a dudas de lo mejor, lo mejor

  • Ihihi Bri at 2:05...poor little guitar heroo!! he looks scared..!

    Anyway,awesome live...*.*

  • I love you.

  • Freddie!!! What a voice! I still love you, I still miss you.

  • What a love song!

  • Nice one..........

I was there at this gig.

  • Freddie is amazing

  • what a voice!

    just amazing!! :)

  • Why are you marked as a spam?

  • lol the 2 oct doubling thing is weird the soundman must have been tripping, or was way too heavily into the chipmunks recordings

  • The god.

  • love this song live..

greatest band ever i think..such a variety of songs that no band today can match..his voice is universal..

u just dont see it in bands today..its all one tone voices nowadays..

  • Freddie didn't die of AIDS

his awesomeness was too good for this earth

  • This is just... perfect!

  • "it started of so well..."

  • la mejor banda de todos los tiempos

  • Who would have ever known that this man, Freddie Mercury, had the voice of a GOD!

Seriously, sang damn near every sub-genre of Rock, and executed perfectly. It's still sends shivers up my spine, when I listen to this song, or "Play the Game", and I think to myself "this is the same guy that sang We Will Rock You?"

Greatest Rock singer....wait, scratch that GREATEST SINGER IN MUSIC PERIOD.

  • agree! really, he was one and will be forever!

  • I agree...Brian was shitting it.!!!! And shows on various occasions throughout..i appreciate he improvised the solo...but i still sprayed the wall with a nice shiraz!!!x

  • At 2:05 is very funny!! Brian look like scared!

    It's a big performance. Beautiful

  • haha yea he looked scared .... Queen forever

  • amazing at 2.05!!!!

  • What is that weird falsetto that we hear in some peaces of the song? Listen the very last "I'm naked and I'm far from home".

  • It's some sound effect.

  • what the fook, it's a double octaver..omg!

  • Whats the smurf in the last line??? That wasnt in the concert was it??

  • Freddie's voice was so perfect ! during this time period

  • Who cares that the solo's different?

    It's live, it should be!

Makes it more fun if you ask me :D

  • i like impros but whne peope do it in trademark parts of the song its kind of a gamble but for most concerts i went to it was kinda of a ball buster =/ i like this one though

  • incredible band
