dude i have a 95 skylark with a 3.1. i put a new startor and new batttery in it and it will barley turn over and it makeing a low pitch squek i need help
Ok i dont know if any one can help me...i have a 1969 buick riviera and i was takeing off the water pump on it but some bolts snaped and wanted to see if any one knows what is the other think behind the water punp is it a water pump houseing? and can those be bought?
I have to replace one of these tomorrow morning on a 2005 impala. It's the same motor. My question is do I need to take off the belt that the pump rests on or is there a way to loosen it. Also, do you need to take the housing off that the hoses are attached to. It looks like you just took that out of the middle...

NEVER use silicone or rtv on a gasket. read the bottle. rtv is designed to seal metal to metal or metal to plastic. no vehicle manufacturer used silicone or rtv on gaskets from the factory.
@gestwicki He's using a thin coat of it to hold the gasket in place on one side only, which is ok. I've always done it this way and have never had a leak and so have many mechanics. If you don't do it this way, you risk a mangled gasket as the gasket can move around quite a bit when you're installing it, especially in places where there is very little clearance.
@jjenson2006 i agree. i tried going a plenum gasket once and didnt use anything to hold it and it ripped and i wound up blowing the valve seals on my car
