  • The video goes dark and then you only hear the voice.

  • You are the best i wish u were my crocheting buddy

  • Could you do this with rows of double crochet?

  • thank you so much..

  • @17shwehninsi You are welcome. :)

  • Can you do a video on how to do monogram letters (initials) on a scarf. I'm making a scarf for my husband and I'm in need of some assistance with the initials being placed on the scarf. I want to crochet the initials then apply them to the scarf. Hope that makes sense

  • Thank you so much for this video! I have an order where I have to use Greek letters, and I was just going to sew crochet chains onto my work. This definitely helps!

  • This is so great! I was intimidated about making letters on my crocheted items and didn't have any clue as to go about making them and now I feel silly because this is SO easy. You do an AWESOME job making your tutorials. I always look to your channel first when I need help. Thanks!!!

  • thank u so much

  • Thank you so much for this.......You are awesome!

  • I was wondering about that too, thanks

  • @madeira20084602 You are welcome. :)

  • Can you tell me what type of crochet patter the white square is. I want to make a scarf and that looks perfectly flat and simple. :) Thanks! :D

  • @HeroJez1 The white square is rows of single crochet.

  • Yay S! Just what I needed... gonna try and create smaller letter versions... I hope it works out

  • @TheBestkwnsecret09 It will work well for different size letters.

  • Thank you! This is another great video and just what I needed!

  • May I just say how amazing you are?! I've been trying my darnest to figure out how to use the holes of crochet to embroider like in cross stitch, and when I couldn't, I actually crocheted bubble letters and sewed them on. Your method is soooo much easier!

  • @Bossilla Thank you! You can also cross stitch through the little single crochet holes. With that you will want a vibrant contrasting color.

  • This is sooo great! I have been crocheting since I was a little girl but just the basic stuff; no projects hats, slippers and lettering. I have learned alot from your videos and and so happy that I can make such beautiful things.

  • AWESOME JOB GIRL..

  • Hey Theresa. Can you give advice on how to do straight letters (like K, T, E, F, H...etc.)

For example for K, do you a straight line down and then fasten off and then start the slanted lines, or do you not fasten off and just stretch the line across the piece? I hope you understand this question.

As before, I continue to LOVE your work and tutorials!

    thanks!

  • @joannmorgan74 You can work them how by fastening off on each line or moving over to the next starting point. Since it is on the backside, it will be hidden.

  • I meant a is such a great video.

  • @2bcng Thank you.

  • This us such a great video.

  • Thank you, that was very helpful!

  • Thanks so much!!!! It helps me so much on my scarf that i made for my husband...again....Thank you!!!

  • @angelathatekweelee You are welcome! Please share a video response!

  • this will work for scarves too right? :D

  • @lilazn30nfahrenheit This technique will work on scarves, blankets, hats. Any size. I used the smaller block for the purpose of the video demonstration.

  • @tjw1963 :)I actually just knitted a phone case, and used this technique to write the letter "D" on it :)

  • @Ang3licRose Thank you for sharing your success with the technique.

  • Thanks sooo much! :) I subbed.

  • @Ang3licRose You are welcome! :)

  • This sooo easy! Thank you! :)

  • thanks a lot ;)

  • thank you so much for this!! I'm making a Dodger scarf for my mom and she wanted the word dodger on the scarf and I was starting to do sl st but that's to hard so thank you so much .

  • ok wow you just saved my project. can i do this same thing on knitted peices of work?

  • @Milotic14 Yes, this will work on knit as well. It works best with stitches that are closer together but it can be done on most crochet stitches.

  • do you have a video showing how to make the things you made the letters on? the squares? because im looking at granny squares and most of them have holes throughout them, none are solid like this in this video DD: Please help!

  • @jordanjansenluvr2010 I do and it is called a crochet character cube. I will forward the link to you.

  • Hi I just want to ask how do you make brittni on a hat or scarf.I need to know now because I was going to make one for my best friend.

  • @hananonee The needle is about 4inche long. I am using regular 4 ply yarn.

  • i've always used to back stitch, i like this way much better. thanks for showing

  • @valeriebrown3709 You will find a variety of techniques that work for lettering. I really like this technique.

  • Hey will you please put a video or detailed crochet lesson on how to crochet the following phrases: " West Virgina" and " Jacksonville Jaguarss"

Thank you very much and cant wait to here from you

  • I LOVE ALL OF UR VIDEOS, CAN U TEACH HOW TO MAKE DOG SWEATHER PLZ? thanks and luv ur videos.

  • I LOVE ALL OF UR VIDEOS, CAN U TEACH HOW TO MAKE DOG SWEATHER PLZ? thanks and luv ur videos.

  • How do you tie it off? Every time i finish a granny square or blanket and tie it off it either comes apart at the end or at the beginning and my embroidery never stays >.<

  • @Kagomenesan You will always make a knot or two at the end of any project. With this example, you can make the knot on the backside so it will not be seen on the front of your work.

  • Thanks for the tip! It will be very helpful when I make Christmas presents for my family! Thanks again!

  • @mrswinger0716 You are welcome.

  • Thanks that is VERY helpful for me since I'm making letters on pillows for my family for Christmas! Thanks again!

  • Love it can you do one with the letters in handwriting?

  • wow this is so amazing. i have been wanting to crochet the letter g on a pilllow i made but i didnt think it was possible!! thanks tjw1963

  • @CBNcrochet You are welcome. I appreciate the comment.

  • What type of stitch is your swatch? Single crochets? Also, does it matter what type of stitch is used on the piece that you're adding the lettering on? (I hope that makes sense.)

I've tried cross stitch but I don't like the back. It appeared a bit messy.

  • @freedomplease I used the single crochet on the swatch. You can use other stitches with this technique as well.

  • @tjw1963 Thanks. I made a nice piece and I want to add a name. Cross your fingers. LOL! You make it look easy...I'll share pictures once I'm done.

  • @freedomplease I am sure you will do a great job! :)

  • Thank you so much this really helps b/c I have been wanting to do a project with this and I never even thought about doing it this way this is a great idea! I will be using this as soon as I get the chance to start on that project again.

  • @2secretangels This will work on knitting as well.

  • hi there , im quite new to crochet but im learning a lot from you , can you tell me what stitch you have used to make the white square and can you tell me how to do it please , kind regards michelle xx

  • The stitch is the basic single crochet.

  • thanks so much, i have done a square and am now practising doing the letters, i love love love your videos, im learning sooooo much, only started crochet 2 weeks ago so still a lot to learn, thanks for making crochet much easier to learn and enjoy xxx

  • Hey, can you help me? I'm making the baby converse booties (sooo cute by the way) and instead of the star, I wondered if I could put a little "S" for NCstate on the white circle. I know it's kind of small. Do you have any advice for making a tiny little S?

  • You could use the the embroidery chain stitch with embroidery floss. The embroidery floss is much smaller so it will fit on the small circle better.

  • what if you run out of yarn before you finish?

  • what size needle are you using? and about how much does it cost? thx

  • I believe it may be a size 10. You can pick them up for a couple of dollars for a package of 4.

  • i love love love your video but in this video i didn't see what you did with the yarn before yu started making your P. I mean if you knotted it before you started or something like that. Seeing that beginning step would be so helpful!

  • I do not knot until the end in case I have to pull it out. When it is complete I will knot. Time code 3:23 shows how to knot the tails.

  • if i may ask do we tie the end of the yarn ? and ur amazin

  • You can tie it or knot it and then sew it in. I usually try to keep the knots to the back of the work.

  • thank you for this video it really came in handy=]

  • You are welcome.

  • I teresa would u Please plz plz plz plz plz plz reply plz im begging u plz!!!!! I really need to know if u say no thats ok but could u do a vid of how to sew in crochet the breast cancer sign,

    thanks

  • Hi, Ilove your vidoes. I have crocheted so much. I just finished a baby bib and would like to but initials BB on if if possible can you show me plz tyty love you you are great

  • You would make a guide the same as I have in the video and shape it in a B. All of the letters will be done the same way.

  • Thank you, I am making so many baby things and so great you showed letters. I have learned alot more from you then other sites. thank you very much

  • Thank You!!!! I didn't know how easy it was.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • i bet you're so used to saying "hook" all the time. it's cool. it happens to the best of us :-D thank you so much for posting something like this!!! the hat i'm knitting for my friend is going to have a little crochet rose (first official crochet project i learned from you, btw) on one side, and her first initial on the top....or something like that :-D

    thank you SO MUCH!

  • Did I call my tapestry needle a hook? I missed it in editing if I did.

  • Hey, I was wondering if this would work on a knitted piece because I learned knitting and just finished a scarf and I tried embroidering the letter, but it keeps coming loose.

  • It should work just as well on a knitted piece. Just remember to make a very secure knot and sew in your tail. The embroidery should not be coming apart. You can also take some washable fabric glue and the tail to the yarn so it will not come apart.

  • Okay, thank you

  • Teresa,

Great video and I hope that I can do thispattern. I'm making a queen size blanket with double crochet granny square with the fringe edging. We are from Louisiana and wants the blanket in the SAINTS colors and the letters. Can this be done on double crochet.? Also want to add a fleur de lis, can I draw a patter on paper first to help with this?

  • You can do this technique on double crochet. I am sure it would be helpful for you to draw it out on paper first. You may also want to consider using a removable guide so you will have a pattern to follow as you are making your design.

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this very useful instructional video. It was exactly what I was looking for.

  • I appreciate the comment, thank you. :)

  • Teresa, would you use the single crochet if you wanted to make letters with counted cross stitch?

  • You would criss cross over each stitch from the top to the opposite bottom. You can do them sideways too. Once you start. you will be able to tell if it looks correct. it is really the same as cross stitch on fabric and aligning your X's.

  • I really like watching your video. I usually make lap blankets using the double crochet granny squares. However, my grandson wants me to make him a twin size blanket with a star in the center and Dallas Cowboys written in it. What do you think would be the best way to do this. Should I make the blanket first using single crochet and then coming back and doing the stars and the letters.

  • You could always do the chart crochet although that will mean changing colors. It is up to you and what you are comfortable with.

  • thankyou for this! i needed to know how to do this! do you think i can double going around twice to make the letters thicker? i hope you know what i mean. like stitching the first line and then stitching again next to it?

  • You are welcome. Yes, you can go around twice for more added thickness.

  • OMG!!! I couldn't get the hang of making these letters for anything, but I just caught on and it's amazing. I've been crocheting since I was 12 and now I'm 22 and in that time period all I could do was make blankets. Now I can make lots of stuff thanks to you. You are so great :)

  • Thank you, I appreciate your comment.

  • Hi Teresa,

What a great technique...but I'm completely at a loss about embroidery. I guess you could call me needle-arts/embroidery impaired. Anything other than a crochet hook and I'm out of my comfort zone. Is there a tutorial that covers all the letters, numbers, and the embroidery stitch you did? Is there a way to do it with a crochet hook? I would love to do letters on crocheted baby bibs, etc. What great personalized gifts they would make. Thanks again Teresa.

  • Thank you. I did a few of the ones that I thought may be harder to do like the R, S, G and P. You can make them any size. Once you have an understanding of the embroidery chain, you will be able to make any letter or number. I have made a chain, then shaped it and sewed it on but I did not like the results very well. Cross stitch is the other technique for lettering.

  • thankyou so much!

  • thank you soooo much!!!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • This is an AWESOME technique, but for those of you who don't like embroidery or sewing, you can do the same thing with a hook and yarn.

  • Thank you. Do you have another way to letter on small spaces?

  • oo my god i cant thank you enough just for all your work its really helpfull and i love this video the most

  • this is so cool.....with this technique you can probably do shapes and everything!!!! awesome...thanks!!!!

  • oh thats absolutely great i been wanting to try that thanks teresa your awesome

  • Thank you. :)

  • how did u do the white one?? it's a granny square??? but i don't think so..i love your art work..keep it up!!!

  • It is rows of single crochet. The white square will be in a video that is coming up in the next few days for a project. It could be used in with granny squares if it is made to the same size as the rest of your squares.

  • Teresa I absolutely love your work. I have taken a class and I can finally read patterns :) YEAH I have been wanting to do letters for the longest and this video is perfect!! I have had one of those ahhh haaa moments hehe again I love your work!!
