It promotes peace, but does not take a hard stance on it. To some extent it promotes violence, but no more so than the bible. After all the bible establishes a fathers right to sell his daughter into slavery according to Leviticus.

This is not to say I wouldn't vote for a Christian, but frankly to hear that a candidate is religious at all is a turn off to me. It demonstrates a persons ability to selective disregard information and rationality to maintain a flawed world view.
