  • Herc is such a gung-ho moron, if his chosen career had been drug dealer he'd have kicked the bucket early on

  • I want my camera back beeotch!

  • "i say we get the troops, FUCK these assholes up" gotta love herc.

  • what did the back of herc shirt say.

  • Bodie in backseat? What was the story behind this again?

  • Ah god, the last second. DUCK BODIE

  • @vilkwang Snoop - the fact that she never cared about her appearance and didn't act feminine at all and then the final thing she does is ask about how she looks, her desire for reputation when she tries to keep the mart guard's badge, she has no qualm about killing people if it's what she's being told to do but still shows signs of compassion when she gives away all that money to the guy in the DIY store, less emotionally detached than Chris ("damn you didn't even wait to get him in the vacant")

  • @vilkwang Chris - strongly implied that he was sexually abused, you can tell he has a lot of respect/fear for Marlo from his body language and tone when he's saying "you didn't need that shit on your mind", you can tell about why he does what he does from the fact that he does not care about reputation, when Snoop does (he throws the guard's badge away when she wants to keep it as a medal). You can tell he's cold-blooded, would you expect a hitman like that to get scared or upset very often?

  • @vilkwang Oh, there was plenty of development for those characters, you just didn't pick up on it because The Wire takes a 'show, don't tell' approach (and rightfully so).

Marlo - the fact that he doesn't ever raise his voice or show anger until Chris tells him that Omar was saying his name in the streets tells you how much he cares about his rep, you can see from the way he talks to Prop Joe before killing him that he is sociopathic, you've got the whole thing about his birds which he likes.

  • I don´t get it. Why didn´t they just call for backup or something? I mean , sure, Marlo is dangerous but if they just bring a couple of extra officers then there´s no big deal. It´s clearly shown through the rest of those early season 3 episodes that the police can do pretty much whatever they want towarss these project-gangsters, (assuming their commanders looks the other way).

  • Herc is kinda dumb but I think he just wanted to show that he isn't afraid of Marlo.

  • It's hilarious how stupid Herc is...he's clearly 5 seconds away from being beaten half to death, everyone know's it but him and he still walks away from the confrontation thinking he did something

  • I want Herc's t-shirt.

  • why yall hate marlo so much him michael snoop and chris wereee the best characters in thee series you really gotta watch the way they moued it was fckingg genius

  • @mirmac12 Thank you broo i hink the samee wayy y : D they madee the show !

  • @mirmac12

People hate them because they weren't characters. Marlo and his crew are the least developed characters in the entire show, which is dumb as they are the major targets for nearly half of the show.

I love The Wire but it was much better when the "bad guys" were actually human and not just mindless psycho's. Chris nearly got a bit of development when he beat that guy but that's it.

I know, "it show's how crazy the youth is today". I'd still rather watch human characters.

  • @vilkwang you want it one way, but it's the other way.

  • Herc Bitch!

  • herc really respected marlo. thats why he was staring him down and wanting to fuck with him. people do that when they can sense someones the real deal.

  • Even though Herc is one of the dumbest characters, and he ends up on the wrong side in the end protecting or rather PERPETRATING the corrupt system, here, he's right. Marlo does more harm in this series than most characters, and way more than Herc himself. Marlo should have been taken down early. If they came back the next day like Herc wanted, things might have been different on the street later in the series.

  • @ravenouscolonelhart I Highly doubt it!!

  • the fucks you say?

  • HE NEED TO BE KILL THIS FAT WHITE PIG!

  • Marlo is the fucking man.

  • Herc wanted it be done the easy way...

    But it's the other way

  • I love seeing someone humiliate that piece of shit Marlo.

  • @theporksicle - Actually, I would say Herc was humiliated here. He's just too stupid to realize it and Carver had to save his ass. What Herc fails to realize is that there are certain type of people who don't fold at the police, and Marlo is one those cats. I would have love to see Herc get beaten down by Marlo and his crew.

  • I hate MArlo but I'd be a fool not to see that HErc was on dangerous ground.

  • I like how Carv manages tries to save face in this scene. He's like "Alright, we'll leave..but were taking your bat!!" lol

  • Yo Marlo, give Herc his fucking camera back man!

  • Lol Herc's fucking ballsy

  • @Reeves92 Ballsy? You mean reckless.

  • @philateliceun Yeah you're right.

  • Marlo was THE man on the wire.. lol@the comments.. Marlo was a young avon.. thats all.. the cycle repeating itself over again. and anybody in those situations knows, you kill a cop.. your money is gonna get fucked up,too much heat will be brought down on you.. think ppl. think!

  • @Prologick - I don't think they were planning to kill them. Marlo isn't that dumb. But Marlo is prideful, and hence, he won't be afraid of the consequences that come from a beatdown.

  • I love Carver's western gunslinger swag here, slowly looking around and observing how outmatched they are

  • @Swiffness I just love Carver, period.

  • when the barksdale organization had the likes of stinkum, wee-bey, bird, etc they would have handled marlo and his crew like nothing

  • fuck presbo

  • That speech on middle management was the fuckin truth

  • SPOILER ALERT!!! Watching this after having seen the whole series twice, I love how from the very beginning, Herc and Marlo had beef. The way it continues throughout the series with the camera and finally with Herc finding Marlo's phone number which leads to his arrest.

  • @Arsolon618 Totally true. They weren't kidding when they made the tagline "all the pieces matter". Marlo probably would've gotten away with everything if he hadn't got on Herc's shitlist.

  • @Arsolon618 wow i never caught that. I should watch the series again! Herc fucks him in the end! even though he's an example of an awful cop, he helps put marlo on the illegal wiretap

  • Herc was packin, the fact that kid over in the corner went for a bat probably tipped him that most of em didn't have a burner.

I think if the shit would have went down Herc would have made it out.

Plug Marlo, use him as a shield, fire and don't stop till everyones on the ground.

  • @JuliusRage burner means phone, not pistol/glock/gat.

  • These boys was real had the police scared the smart cop had sense and was like lets get the fuck out of here

  • i love this scence if you pay attencing to detail u can see how young marlo looks on season 3 and how he looks in the filth season ilove the first time i saw marlo bubbles and his runnin partner that white dude i cant rember his name but anyway bubbles hit one of marlos boys truck with a shoppin cart and his boy the same dude thats in this scence goin for the bat threahin bubble marlo tells him do it or dont because i got somwhere to be .that shit was the shit

  • @MrMattg65

    johnny

  • thanks to this show my name is famous... sorta..

  • yo i use was in the game at one i understand what marlo was thinkin i dont care task force that what they hurc and calver they cant roll up no u and say get in the car and take me to go talk to nobody u feel me? u better have a warrent or somethang in writing before i get in any car thats the way i feel about it shit where im from shit task force was gettin know bullshit

  • marlo at one time was a mid level man there was a scence where hes tellin one of his boys about some money commin up short he tell friut his mid level boys your count was way down way down a he said when i ran a shop i if i came up short i would i would find out what was the problem and i would do somethang about then he tells friut to take youngin wih u

  • @MrMattg65

    everyone gotta start somewhere man

bunny colvin was once walking a beat somewhere

  • I never understood this scene. This is Baltimore, not Ciudad Juarez... even the baddest mf's know that if they touch a cop, let alone kick one's ass, they're up schitt creek for good. What are Carver and Greggs scared of happening? Herc should have cuffed Marlo in front of everyone and thrown him in the squad car.

  • @thediazbrothers

Umm, I don't know maybe it was the fact that they were outnumbered and if something were to happen they would have had trouble.

  • wtf was bodie doin in the back of that car?

  • @dookiefaceman They were pulling him in because he was a mid level drug dealer I believe.

  • its funny cuz herc is the one who will bring marlo down

  • I liked Herc......he had no brains but definitely got the balls to compensate, somewhat... haha

  • The only person you see Marlo kill is the honey bait trap in Season 3.

  • I SO wanted Hurcc to punch Marlo in the mouth....I was itching for it!

  • @GRG313

I was the opposite,I would have given good money to watch somebody jack Herc up.

  • Idiots... Marlo was never a middle guy... He was always a boss

  • @Matttheweatherman13 actually Marlo killed someone himself in the show, it was Avon and Stringer who never did :)

  • @Matttheweatherman13 he killed a security guard.

  • @Matttheweatherman13 Good point, it's another (of many) statements about how black on black violence contains elements of cowardice and self-hate. Marlo wouldn't have dared to order a hit on Herc but he had Chris & Snoop execute a man from his own race over petty rubbish who was working in some crap job to support himself and probably his family.

  • @JayArgonaut what??? they wouldn't have dared ordered a hit on Carver either. They are cops.

  • "Ain`t gonna happen"....

  • pussy marlo couldn't order a hit on herc now, like he did on the security guard.

what happened to his policy on talking back?

    haha he bitch-made

  • @zackhanscom herc was a police officer. You dont kill popo on purpose otherwise youre gonna be called a cop killer and a whole shitstorm of cops are gonna be on your ass. Remember when kima got shot? everybody was cryin and it was a huge situation and you gotta remember, she wasnt killed.

  • @zackhanscom you can cleary see that marlo's crew was ready to thump. if anything, carver is bitch made and he's a cop rofl

  • I think that killing a cop is a bit different than killing a security guard of some local store

  • @zackhanscom The only reason he did that to the security guard was due to his lack of respect at the poker game. He needed to feel like he was still respected so when he started to not get respect from the security guard he 'forced' him to respect him. Marlo gets respect the same way a rapist gets pussy.

  • @zackhanscom that's a cop not a fucking security guard

  • @zackhanscom That pay cop wasn't official, herc is a official officer.

  • @zackhanscom , marlo would rape u if u said that to him. real talk.

  • @zackhanscom So I Take iT U Woulda' Shot Herc? :-/

  • @zackhanscom The security guard wasn't a legitimate cop. If Marlo did put a hit out on Herc then all of the BPD would be on Marlo's ass like white on rice.

  • Haha, and in the end Herc ends up working for Marlo.

  • the fuck is bodie doing in the car with cops?

  • "Brain dead fucks" @ 1:26 LOL!!

  • @esepapicee stuff..

  • @Alytoner The fact that they have guns is the only reason anyone would be scared of them...The fact that you just called any pac 10 school pussy let alone ucla lets me know u don't the difference between being tuff on the streets with your boys backing u and being legitimatly tuff so keep watching your gangsta movies kid

  • @Mattraction513 You're comparing street thugs to football players. That alone is enough to let anyone know you know fuck all about what you're talking about. Get back to me when you have those UCLA boys killing people for a living.

  • I played football at ucla and box but when marlo said aint gona happen and the look on his face at 1:08 i woulda stepped off

  • @Mattraction513 You play football and box with a bunch of white bitches, these people would kill you for stepping up to them. I bet you'd be too much of a pussy to even walk up to one of them.

  • what programme is this is looks mint!

  • @bricksalegend 6 feet deep. bodie and poot killed him in season 1 for snitching.

while we talkin bout wallace, i don't get wallace's and poot's relationship, i thought they were brothers 'cause they live together and shit, but for that to be true Poot killed him too easily like it was nothin...when it came down to it of course. before that he was shittin bricks

  • @hiphopheadism i agree, and it was poot who said ''do it'' to bodie when he was hesitating by talking to wallace b4 firing, but that makes me think they were friends, and poot couldnt stand to see wallace like that but knew it had to be done,

he takes the gun to put him outta his misery, as bodie clearly isnt gonna finish him off

personally i think bodie didnt wanna do it,but his bravado almost forced his hand, poot was a much stronger character than bodie at this point

  • Merciless. Chills my blood to think people like that in this world wield so much power and influence. As Jacque Fresco said " this shit's gotta go"

The Wire... well it's been said but there's not a show better than it. Soprano's is as good but a different premise...

  • i wish marlo and avon would of teamed up!

  • I'm glad there's a tv show that found a home for bad actors lookin' for work.

  • @The79Machine if you talking bout tha wire the only bad thing bout it is that comment you made n you comming on this

  • This is one of the few times Herc should have gotten the troops and beat there asses...after a strategic retreat of course.

  • @kirgeez absolutely good point you make; I would simply split hairs and call it a tactical rather then strategic retreat; As for Marlo's crew, if they jumped herc and carv kima would oof come down on then like God and let CID sort it out

  • a few thoughts if this had played out and herc had grabbed marlo and the shit hit: 1)greggs, after she 10-13ed she was on her way and if either of her old partners were down and getting it she probably would of gone lethal force and let IID sort it out 2) Colvin, if his men had taken it it would of been "Biblical", who ever of stanfield's crew got out of the alley would be dead men walking

  • "Middle management means you have just enough responsibility that you have to listen when someone talks, but not enough power to tell anyone to go fuck themselves" Great line

  • Marlo one evil MF but we all know we wanna be him.

  • "Ain't gon' happen..."

  • Even though Herc was incredibly stupid and short sighted alot of the time, he had some balls-as this scene shows. Good to see someone front up to that evil fuck Marlo. I would have watched a sixth season just to see that lunatic get his head blown off.

  • @pharry4life very well put; my thoughts also; Hec may be not the brightest but he had a set, all brass in this situaiton

  • man i want to kill that white pig so bad!!

  • I love it how in the end, Herc was the one responsible for Marlo going down.

  • @Tonyfaster No, Herc was responsible for Marlo going free, because they hard an illegal access to his number. In the end Herc only makes matters worse.

  • @Sooftah marlo would of joined the crew at Jessup if Herc hadn't given carver the cell #?

  • herc is a guy who would save your ass in a fistfight and get your ass killed in a gunfight. bit lacking in the finesse department. except for that ep where he goes undercover, jesus christ that ep.

  • Herc acts hard cuz he's a cop but if he didnt have that shiny lil badge he would be joining everyone else in the vacant buildings

  • "Fuckz you say" love his accent no homo

  • Herc's death here woulda been enough to close the books Marlo...easy.

  • herc was the type of guy who thinks cracking heads fixing any problems

  • that bald cop was pretty bad ass

  • @aes620hb2 Yeah he was, but like sammythemc said...Carver knew they were in serious danger with no back up. They were going to probably get killed had herc kept at it.

  • @trooper40below yah herc was brave but foolish. still i like herc alot and marlo wud be stupid to kill a policeman becuase he wud go 2 jail in a heartbeat

  • @aes620hb2 true that. Herc was unaware of the danger but at the same time Herc probably wouldn't have cared. He was so zoned on Marlo. You can tell he wanted to get at Marlo bad.

  • Herc never knew he was THIIIIS close to end up being in the vacants

  • I don't get it though. The crews never dare touch the cops. Hence why they can just walk around wherever and not need worry. How come here it looked like shit was about to hit the fan?

  • @LSamL90 Marlo crew is wreckless the will kill

  • @LSamL90 Herc and Carver didn't have back up really thats why Marlo's crew was so bold. Otherwise Carver and Herc would whoop Marlo's ass and take him down to the station.

  • I don't get it though. The crews never dare touch the cops. Hence why they can just walk around wherever and not need worry. How come here it looked like shit was about to hit the fan?

  • I think Marlow almost respects Herc for standing up to him.

Marlow and Herc have a wierd relationship throughout the wire, starting here, then that stuff about the camera and then their connection through the loyer.Marlow is almost friendly with Herc in season 5 in a way Marlow has only acted previously with Chris, Snoop and Prop Joe. Strange.

  • @Cryer24597

Yeah, what you said. It was also Herc that ruined Marlos career as a drug boss. Had he never give his cellnumber to any cop they wouldn´t have been able to tap him and bust him. Of course though, his plan backfired when marlo walked. Mkes you wonder if herc ever asked Carver who he gave the number to, haha

  • thats y he took the camera! lol talk about irony herc basically thought he had the upperhand but lost his job because of marlo

  • Carver just realized they is dealing with a whole different breed. the wire did a great job showing the growth of Carver. remeber him and hurc were just reckless cops who lived to bust heads and take drug money. I remember Carver standing on the car with the bat calling drug dealers bitches and how this is his streets and cops will fuck them up anytime they feel. Hurc didnt grow much at all. But in Hurcs defense his entire life was riding on finding that camera. he couldnt even think straight.

  • @snotgd ahahahahahahaahahahahahahahhahah that missing camera had me laughing for episodes

  • @snotgd

naw go even further back on season 1 when prez, herc and carver went into the jects after 2 am to do field interviews or whatever. when prez had pistol whipped the youngin. good shii, carver was a mellowed out mo fukka on season 4 an 5

  • @snotgd

naw go even further back on season 1 when prez, herc and carver went into the jects after 2 am to do field interviews or whatever. when prez had pistol whipped the youngin. good shii, carver was a mellowed out mo fukka on season 4 an 5

  • @snotgd this is before the thing with the camera

  • @BishopOcelot oh was it ? I guess Hurc was an asshole no matter the circumstance lol. Its been a minute

since I've seen an ep. I need the blue ray box set but that shit is like $150.

  • man this was the best show ever. Treme's first season was real good...looking forward to season 2

  • @fausto412 I agree Treme was very well written not to mention a couple of my favorite characters from the wire are back

  • If carver wsn't there, Herc would have been a dead man. arlo and the way he ran shit was a totally different animal than anything any of the west district cops had known before. But thats what made Carver a good cop, as Bunny pointed out, "good instincts"

  • @PerceivedPerception1 No, no, no. He would've gotten his ass beat, and Kima was there, sooooooo NO.

  • He "gulped"!!! OMG, Marlo is not invulnerable. Right after Herc says "There's gonna be a tommorow" Marlo swallows hard signifying fear and anxiety. If Herc saw that he would have cuffed that m'fer and hauled his sorry ass to booking.

  • @dcsmooth

And again..LMAO @ this comment (along wit me laffin at all da other comments i see on here)...you ppls Perceptions of this shit...is Hilarious to me. Yall are completely clueless lol...

Marlow "gulping"...did NOT signify fear and anxiety. If u know anything about 1- His Character....2- u can SEE how all them dudes around was GETTING READY to fuck them cops up, not MAYBE..they was GOING to do it...and 3- Look at his dam Facial expression...hes Gulping from RAGE!

  • @dcsmooth Part 2

Hes gulping from bein in pure RAGE!...(if u also notice..seconds b4, hes shakin his head in Utter Disgust and disbeleif, that dis clown is in his face..n talkin 2 him like he lost is fuckin mind........then when he gets 2 da point of Gulping, hes REALLY in RAGE n wants 2 do somethin 2 Hercs (INCEDIBLY STUPID..) Ass.

And yes...even tho no1 kills da cops.....Them 2 was literally SECONDS away from gettin it. SMH lol

  • Marlo did the right thing here. The stupid fucks aka #yungbldk9 and iLL271 don't understand that if Marlo's crew DID kill Herc and Carver, Kima was there to witness it and when they do get caught, that would mean death row or life without the possibility of parole for Marlo and his crew.

  • @MarloStanfield10 exactly, marlo is a hard mother fucker, but hes smart enough not 2 murder 2 cops

  • @MarloStanfield10 Lol yeah all these youtube retards are like "yeaaah herc woulda ended up in one of the vacants" haha what the fuck was marlo or his crew gonna do? yeah hit a cop wit a baseball bat n see what happens

  • @dwayneo18 yeah the cops would have come down on him like they do in shield. cop killers dont usually survive long in this country.

  • @bioskope i tell u one thing marlo didnt go wit them police

  • @landogray thats because they didnt have anything to put on him. if they had something that would have stuck they would have hauled his ass. if the baltimore pd had come down on his ass full force instead of bickering amongst themselves most of the time, they could have put marlo away for good.

  • Love this scene. Marlo still seems in control.

  • @bartonsab I agree. One of the reasons y I like Marlo is cause he's always calm, cool and collected and he's poised.

  • What's funny is, in a later season, Herc ends up working for Marlo.

  • @gsofficial Not for him but his boss was Marlo's lawyer and works with him with him since Herc was working for Levy as an investigater..

  • @gsofficial He doesnt work for him, he works for Levy. Levy works for Marlo. Saying Herc works for Marlo is like saying a wal-mart employee works for a customer.

  • @shegwin Herc is the reason Marlo fell. He gave Carver Marlo's cell phone number.

  • @deadlylyrx whats that gotta do with my comment? I did watch the show.

  • @shegwin Agreeing with you buddy. Why try to be tough. I agree with what you said.

  • what movie is this

  • @nikko90115489 It's an HBO TV series called The Wire.. all 5 seasons are some of the best TV ever.

  • LOL herc might be a moron, but it's good to see sombody insulting marlo face to face withouth blinking

  • Marlo is a lot more intimidating than Stringer Bell. At his worst as ruthless as Stringer was, he didn't have a little compassion in him, but Marlo was just heartless and had no compassion or sympathy for anybody. He was ice-cold.

  • met carver today on 82nd and broadway....and called him Sgt. Carver when i approached him....he got a kick outta that..best show on t.v. period..

  • @yungadizzle people like Marlo ancestry are from west africa slash fulani blood ,they fear nothin not even death lol

  • As we oirish say TWATS!

or as the uk say "shut the fuck up brother!"

The Wire is the bollocks! you "gangsta's" with "beef" keep yourself to yourself! cunts.

Why the fuck use you tube to fight? get some feckin nuts you wannabe gangster faggots!

I'm quite happy to meet up and have a row if required, although I will be fucked if I have got to fly to some god forsaken ass end of a country to do so!

At least europe have some proper hoolies!

  • Herc lacks a lot of common sense.

  • i have no idea what this show is but i really hope herc gets killed at some point

  • Marlo's not fuckin stupid he would never kill acop

  • Watch the full series of the wire online @ thewireseason[dot]com. Str8 Classic

  • awesome thanks for the link dude. Cant get enough of this show

  • i love this scene..

  • 2:14...bodie in the bck seat

  • So the Major and Sgt. Carver think that they could have parlayed with Maro if Carv and Herc would have took Marlo down to the station. Ha!

  • This is the 1st time I relize how crazy and smart Marlo really was. He was going to let his crew beat down Herc and Carver. But he still wasn't going. And right after this his next scene was with Stringer where Stinger was talking all that shit and Marlo was just look at him.

  • smart move...get the fuck outta there before marlo puts a hurtin on ya

  • Actually, Marlo was well within his rights to decline to go with Herc and Carver. He was not under arrest. They wanted him to come along voluntarily.

  • Correct, Marlo didn't have to go with them. And I don't think he would have let his crew beat down the police. And this is where Herc and Marlo meet and after this they had a ongoing relationship. Hahahahahahahaha Herc was just to stupid. I'm glad Carver stop hangin with him so much cause Carver became a better police after he stop hanging with Herc.

  • You are spot on on your two points. Marlo was not going to let his crew beat down the police. Notice the slight head shake he gives to the guy reaching for the bat.

And your point about the development of Herc and Carter throughout the series is on target. Carver grew not only as a policeman but as a human being. On the other hand, Herc's learning curve is rather steep. He never seems to climb it.

When Carver tried to keep Randy from going back into foster care, that showed growth.

  • Tru dat! I live in Maryland, but grew up in Detroit 3 blocks from 8-Mile Rd, in Northwest. Sombody want to talk shit, at least 5 cars would show up in less than a minute, and you would just have to prepare for a beat down.

  • So in the beginning of the scene the major was basically telling ole boy not to ask questions and just do what he told? When he was referencing lt's on the corner and the responsibility (or lack thereof) they have

  • Herc goes hard lol

  • why was bodie rollin wit the cops jus chillin?

  • they were tryna bring him to hamsterdam

  • Marlo is a great character dont you think?
