@IanHateHero I think it was discontinued as the FF12 team started making a HD Ivalice game after they completed The Last Remnant. Square Enix didn't want two HD Ivalice games being made at the same time so they canceled the one being developed by a third party.

The visuals are fantastic! Hope they do preserve this vast world, but i dont like the battle system. I mean, i like THIS battle system, but its not Final Fantasy. Im a fan, so i do like the traditional turn-based style... ive hated when they come changing everything since the 10. Up till the 9, the battle system was simply great, its a RPG after all...

looks like a decent game but I don't blame SE for cancelling it, because it is NOT a final fantasy game. Feels more like a mediocre western ARPG.

That being said though, even SE doesn't know how to make a FF game anymore. They've done nothing but disappoint me since X-2. It's all about show and no substance now.

This game looks decent for an early teach demo. One thing I really love about what I just watched was how vast the forest area looks. Pause the video at 1:51 and look at that fantastic vista. ^_^

I hope this game turns out good whenever it comes out. Anyone know which development team or company is working on it?

@yannis3108 Yeah, this version that was being made by GRIN is canceled. However, the game is still in development but at a different developer. It will still be coming out and maybe will even get properly announced at E3 2011.

@Galvanizer67 You're right. Sqare Enix is having a conference on January 18. While its mainly about Versus, Agito, and KH3DS, Tetsuya Nomura stated that other games would be appearing at the conference.

@13bubster But that conference is about games made by the 1st Production Department at Square Enix. FFXII and the other Ivalice games were made by the 4th Production Department. As a result, I doubt we'll see it at that conference. I'm thinking it will show at E3 2011 or TGS 2011.

Between FFT WotL, FFXII, and Vagrant Story, Ivalice is the best world IMO. This looks like it may have a battle system similar to Vagrant Story. I wonder who that character is that is being played as though.

I would have to say that the Chocobo is the only thing that links this to anything Final Fantasy related. Even if it is just a tech demo, it looks way to westernized to be anything that SE would ever design.

It doesn't have to be a sequel to FFXII just because it's based in Ivalice. The game Vagrant Story is also based in Ivalice and has nothing at all to do with any Final Fantasy game.

@J3iLL: It is said (said is the key word) to be a sequel to FFXII(or FFXII:RW) as it takes place in the same time period and involves characters from the game. It may just be another Ivalice Alliance game made by another company that takes place during the same time period like Tactics A2.
