  • good i learned it but wen i pull and hammer on it sounds low not at the forte sound it should be uhhh i need to prectice my hammer and pull offs:(

  • The first part of this lick soundslike a bag pipe. Das awesome..

  • hey !!! that allmost sounds like me!!!! lol...

  • TABS PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • @SniperNereto Just learn theory...makes playing easier/fun!

  • @bpl711 how is theory going to help?

  • nice

  • love the cg studio

  • this is fun :] been lookin for something to shred with, i can almost play up to speed

  • cool : )

  • thanks for having a place where i can get tab,i wish everybody was like you.god bless

  • lol Brutal legend for you gamers out there.

  • nice vid man. it only took me like 10-20 min to learn. now all i need to work on is speed

  • hey man, what makes this legato lick an A minor? how do u make ur own legato licks up using for instance A minor? ppppplllzzz explain, do you have to start on the A note and end on a A note? im stuck lol

  • @kidrockyearrrh23 You use the A minor scale to make this kind of lick ( you can of course play it in other keys but simply moveing it , but this lick is in A minor cause he uses a minor scale and uses the A note as root note ). Legato is simply playing with the least amount of picking and useing as much hammer ons / pull offs / trills as possible. Hope that helped.

  • That legato lick at the beginning is Mark Tremontis

  • my hamer ons and pull off don't work for some stupid reaso. I get like one hammer on pull off before it stops sounding good.

  • @keola310 you're not doing them right

  • @keola310

Make sure to hammer-on the right spot, maybe tap harder, learn your guitar and your fingers :)

  • @keola310 you should make sure the finger that stays in one spot is held down really hard, than hammer on as hard as you can, and pull off really clearly, do this slow, than start getting faster, after a few days you should see a difference, hope this helps!!!!

  • sweet both slow and fast!!

  • NEW YOUTUBE SUCKS

  • @gutiole

    I still agree with you!

  • @gutiole honestly i like the upgrade.

  • Great! Thanks!

  • Your video is fantastic and very useful!!you're great!!!Do you play that lick only in metal music or also playing rock?Thank you!

  • @shabbetta u could play this in any type of music as long as you are in the right key :p

  • If you don't like the lick exactly, try playing the notes in a pattern to fit different timing that you feel comfortable with. add and remove pull offs and hammer-ons to you're choosing and you can make your own run in such a way.

  • cmon people, you already know what part of the guitar he's using, and the note that the shred starts with, why dont you try and use your ears, pay attention and watch closely. i already got it and im practicing the speed but i got the notes that he's showing\\

    good luck

  • eh???? omg that was amazing. i suddenly feel like im 10 years early to play this lol

  • its just a major scale and a lot of the patterns he is doing are big stretches and 1 2 4's

  • awesome teaching method... here's the first part slow... now entire rest of the lick

  • i need tabs...lol...kinda hard 2 folow...idk...mayb its just me

  • @dime1046 No, It's everyone.. It's really hard for me to follow without them saying like fret numbers or notes.. And he goes to fast..

  • practice practice practice it gets easyer

  • this is technically not in A minor its in E phrygian

  • those two scale are the same

  • technically, A minor is the same as E phrygian

  • yes but its in E phrygian specifically because the first note he plays is an E, if he started with an A than it be A minor

  • specifically, A minor has the exact same notes so it dunt make any difference, unless he was playing over a certain riff or chord pattern that emphasised a certain key/mode

  • @TASGuitar7 That's a silly way to determine what mode he's playing in. It's more likely constituted by the cadence he builds with the melody and any triad or consonant intervals that he leans towards.

  • @TASGuitar7 it doesnt matter the first note he starts on..

its the chords and root notes that define the key.

and the lick resolves on A so its most likely in A

  • same as c major

  • and c major they all have the same scale map

  • They're the same lol It could be called:

    A Aeolian, E Phrygian, C Ionian, D Dorian....

    It goes on :-)

  • F Lydian..

  • ur guitars not tuned

  • @joshalpha dude thats tuned

  • Yeah, I hate Yngwie for saying - "It's his style not mine, so why bother?"

    Damn, what a musician..

  • "Music is not a competition" -I agree. It is a form of expression. I don't like to limit my expression either. This is why I don't limit my guitar playing to one genre.

I use to be intimidated with guitar players like Yngwie. I told myself: "I'm a blues player and have no use for that tech. shit". I was allowing intimidation to impede my inner desire to shred.

When people say that shredders play with no feeling, I ask them to define feeling. It comes down to self expression.

  • EXACTLY!

it's very ignorant for them to say that. i think they say that just because they are so lacking in techical skill that they either are completely intimidated by it or don't even understand it so they say "well its mindless and has no soul"

its just a different, more talented, more coordinated, more dexterous soul. ;P

  • right on man, sorry for my overuse of the word "limit", haha.

    :- )

  • @xXTheRatXx felt the same way until i got better i understand d00d

  • @xXTheRatXx nice man, i think the only players who play with no feeling (whether they show it or not when they play) are the kids and shit that are forced into playing music.

  • very clean!!! surprisingly with sweeping! continue to inspire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This does not need legato. I like it better if you alternate pick all the notes, it sounds more clean and more fluent.

  • Disagree,

alternate picking can be very deceiving as the speed of the picking hides what could otherwise be a slower fret hand.

I believe that legato is a much harder and more accomplished technique as it further dispenses with alternate picking and focuses more on accuracy and articulation of the fret hand.

  • I think that it is important to have both techniques mastered. Listen to Vinnie Moore's earlier stuff.

I use both techniques, (I'll add that my legato is cleaner/smoother then the guy aboves). So coming from someone who uses both, alternate picking is definatley a much harder technique to master.

You need a strong left hand for both techniques, assuming your right handed. What makes alt. picking the harder technique IMO is the fact that both hands must be coordinated with each other.

  • Its not important to have either technique mastered. Music is not a competition. What matters is the song and the context of the playing in it. Does the listener like it? The problem with so many guitarists is they seem to think guitarists are their audience. If so..your done..because there are only a few masters worth listening to--the rest are pretenders.

The public is bored with technical playing. They like cool sounding riffs, not sweeps and this stuff people practice to impress 2 guys.

  • This is coming from somebody who obviously limits himself to pentatonic scales.

"The public is bored with technical playing" -This is polar opposite to the truth. Technical players get bored with other technical players. Once different scales/arpeggios/techniques are mastered, a person can then distinguish them with his ear while another person is playing. A person with no technical backround just hears a shit ton of notes and thinks, "how can anyone get so good at guitar?"

  • lol nice

  • I believe you're talking about sloppy alternate picking. If you pick properly the notes will all be lined up, and if you don't you just suck. Either way the techniques should not be thought of as better or more accomplished. They aren't the same thing. They are used to get different sounds, and a good guitar player should be proficient in both. If you want a percussive staccato like attack you pick, and if you want a smooth liquid type sound you use legato. No one should be limited to just one.

  • I'm not judgemental against alternate picking however, for me, legato just seems to work better and whilst I respect guitarists who utilise this technique, I prefer legato instead.

I believe that when you take away the 'machine gun' noise of speed picking, legato leaves notes more liquid, fluid and articulate.

BTW, I don't suck!!!...exchange you views of course, but no need to make personal attacks.

  • It does leave them more liquid and fluid, but there is more to playing notes then one sound. Sometimes it benifits the song to have a machine gun type run as aposed to having a liquid sound for every run. The beauty of the guitar is that you can get so many different sounds out of it, don't limit you're playing to one sound or you'll become boring and predictable. I try to make sure I can play legato or pick every line I play.

  • Although legato is my favourite technique, I do employ several others, including speed picking. Having said, every guitarist has a lick, a technique or a style that they seem to fall back on or just gels well with them. And for me, it's legato, I'm drawn by the flowing sound of notes uninterrupted.

  • I honestly like both the same. I rarely play a lick with just one or the other. Rather I'll improvise using either or as the moment calls for it. I think too many guitar players use flowing and liquid too much and don't play rhythmically.

  • put up a video and show us

  • Personally I don't see the point in videos like this, this is like something simple enough to figure out on your own, and plus, it's probably better to just figure it out, because then you understand the theory behind it.

  • usually id agree, but stuff like this can inspire folk

  • I remember about 4 months ago i saw this video, i sucked ass, 2 months later im actually very good. i practice 4+ hours a day so DONT GIVE UP!

  • could u send me the tabs please?!?!

  • theres a download for these tabs in the description there friend

  • There is a link in the description to the tabs.

  • thats cool and doesnt need tooooo much practice to sound good

  • man, i have been looking for a run lick, and nothing seems to be understandable enough for me, but this is a good leeson.. 5 stars from me dude!

  • u see i hav real trouble to hammer on then pull of that quikly but i bet its cos ive only been playing for a week

  • yes be creative music but this a great to learn to be able to make ur own there is alot of practicing other licks and scales to figure out how to put things together

  • It's very simple Am and C major scaling are the same so you can just use octaves like at the first part of the lick from G-F-E-D-C-B. Guys just practice making your own licks and be creative in music.

  • I've got that guitar!

  • thnks for the info good old school training

  • nice lick and thanks dude im gonna try to learn it

  • i'm gonna do this in the guitar shop, thnks alot!!!

  • thats nice man but do you think you could put a tab with this stuff so its easier to learn?

  • does anyone know where i could learn how to strum correctly and other basics to shredding cause i am kind of confused, but i know there is a certain method

  • try youtube...

  • get lessons dude

  • nice!

  • nice

  • Thats Very Nice

  • thanks a lot my friend

  • by the way awsome lick

  • wow, first, im a dork
