@shizukagozen777 I wish my mom was like that. She doesn't like how anime has so much violence and nudity. And my aunt doesn't like the homosexuality of some animes. My mom has gotten a bit looser since then (I think she took the "if you can't beat them, join them." mentality because I got my sister and cousins into it.). My aunt however, is still kind of harsh about it. That's what happens when you grow up in a conservative, Catholic, Mexican household. :(

In the case of anime you need to explain that is only for fun, a hobby to distract yourself. The religion is not obstacule to have a open mind, belive I was catholic, and now I'm mormon and my family too and we have a really open mind. Try to convence her the anime is only for distraction and that doesn't occupies the rest of your life

Yeah, my mom wasn't always open-minded but I always gave her good arguments and my dad's pretty liberal, since he had gay friends in high school, so I think she's more used to it than anything. Don't know why my aunt is still harsh, though. I think it might be because my cousin is the only educated one about these matters, where in my family, it's me, my dad, and my little sister.
