It's been a while, but I stuck pretty strictly to the script, so it's probably all in the libretto, but I might have added a line or two to cover for the musical parts that I cut. As for the beginning, the theme of that year's Gala was broadway and dreaming big, so everyone's act was their 'audition' for a fictional broadway musical. I decided that within that context I should have a character and the process went something like this: Broadway -> New York -> Statue of Liberty -> Immigrants (tbc)
(con'td) So I decided to be an immigrant from an undetermined country who was coming to America all starry eyed and dreaming big, looking for his piece of the dream. He's vaguely Eastern European because I'm half Polish, and no one last year could spell or pronounce my last name (and it's Americanized Polish too. Spelling is one thing, but it's not that hard to say.)
Thanks! I'm going perform at the Gala gain this year (my last!=O) but at the moment I'm moving it bit toward off camera work, writing, directing, editing, that sort of thing. Of course, I'll keep starring in Hellspoon until the end.
Yeah that one writer whatshisname may have preserved Lovecraft's writings, but he nearly butchered it too by adding stuff Lovecraft never intended like Having the gods associated /w elements.
I think it was August Delereth, all though Lumley contiunued it. I did like the Titus Crow series though. His characters had a bit more spine than the average Lovecraftian, but not as outrageous as Bruce Campbell's Ash. I love Ash too, he's hillarious, I'm just saying.
The crowd sure took well to all the obscure material, and your performance was smooth and humourous in itself which probably helped. Good show all around.
well then if thats the case, then why is he still refered as "He who (for legal reasons) must not be named". So he went mad, doesn't mean its still not a great play if done like this.
Trust me, this play done right would be huge for Lovecraft. Might even make him more well known than Poe, which i want cause Poe is just depressing, but Lovecraft is always a Great read
I've begun to doubt the truthfulness of the play's 'history' the DVD the HPLHS provides is a joke.C'mon, Altoids as a bribe? No way. The musical has yet to be preformed in its entirety in the US (as far as I know) but it's been done in Dublin and somewhere in I think Sweden (or Switzerland, one of the two).
I agree with Chazzeh. Try to be more grounded, if that makes more sense. You can move, but when you decide to be in a certain point at a certain time, try and plant yourself there, if that makes more sense. Think of a tree. Just try it in front of a mirror. When you're more centered, more grounded, it will lend you strength. It may seem counterintuitive- after all, this piece *is* about being fluid- but there's a difference between being animated and swaying. Other than that, fairly spot on.
Pretty good. Gotta watch your swaying posture and hand gestures, though- pretty distracting. Of course, I was taught in theater class to focus on it. XD Either way, a pretty good version of it. Though it's not the same without the musical bits. Nice job XP
damn...that was good ^_^

Ohmygod... the Obed Marsh voice <33
That was :jawdrop:
In fact, the whole thing was :jawdrop:
Out of curiosity, there were some lines in there that aren't in the soundtrack. Were they from the libretto?
Also, who was that supposed to be at the beginning? Londo Molari? XD

Ah... an interesting concept, but it worked. Awesome.
(I know many people with that problem my dad teaches music in a town that's almost entirely polish.)

Damn! not gonna lie, that was probably the best opening monolouge AND the best description of HP lovecraft, I have heard in a long while.
If you're still acting, keep it up man, you could do anything with that kinda energy onstage

I know who you're talking about... Was that Brian Lumley? I guess it could have been August Derleth, but I don't think he went that far with it.

The star version of the Elder Sign was Derleth's. The tree version was Lovecraft's own.

I wish they'd get permission from "Fiddler on the roof" t perfomr this mainstream!

Is that's what's stopping them? Weird, it's been preformed in Dublin and somewhere in Switzerland (or Sweden, I get them confused all the time)

cant belive this play has barely been performed. The way you do it is HILARIOUS, but still obscure. Why is that?
hehehe, lol "TENTACLES"
seagullman87 3 years ago
You wanna know why? The guy who wrote this went mad! Go to the HPLHS site. I swear its true.

Absolutely brilliant! I wish someone would perform a play for this.
Erichermit 4 years ago
According to the HPLHS, it has been done 2 or 3 times, so I'm hoping that interest will keep gaining and we'll see it preformed in more places.
