Not really just FX. I'm recutting the audio in real time using the Machinedrum's RAM machines to create the patterns. So each track is constantly being supplied with new audio. Each RAM P1 track is also tweaked in a unique way.

When one spins records are they a musician, or a techie with a box of vinyl? Silly me silly me for spending all that time studying music theory, or for bothering with an instrument at all. I could have just purchased some components to play the instuments for me over top of other artist's record's! Where is the talent going?
Musical expression and appreciation are both subjective concepts. A musician who has truly devoted their time to the craft should understand that music is not a competition between talents, but rather a form of artistic expression.
But whether this is a demonstration of talent or not is irrelevant to the concept of music. This simple piece was interesting, unique, and made me smile, and that is enough to satisfy me.
Nope, turntables need amplification to work as an input for the MD. On the right of the turntable you can see the DJ mixer I use to bring the level up.
great work!! love that "swiss mountain music" vinyl *lol* actually the right name of this instrument that the guy is playing, is alphorn btw :-) cheers
Thumbs up! We've never heard any one use Swiss alp music as a source sound, but it definitely sound cool! Next time try to use Jussi Björling for that Swedish connection!
are you actually recordin the vinyl input or just applying realtime FX to it? thanks! there are so many MDUW uninspiring videos out there...and you really seem to know your way through it. make more!!!
Yo what's up, thanks for posting this on the elektron-users forums. So let me get this straight: you constantly recorded and rerecorded an ambient record on R1 and tweaked it using 3 P1s. That's pretty sweet. I like the idea of using 3 P1s instead of constantly tweaking one. Protip.
So.. I can go direct into my machinedrum from vinyl and use as trigger or what is going on? Only have mine (SPS-1 UW and a MM) a month so just wrapping my head around its abilities. Cheers ;)
so at this example you basicly using MD as a effect for your vinyl right?

i know this was made ages ago...but it's pretty amazing.
two quick questions...
a) any chance of a quick snippet of the album before it was sampled to hear what's happening?
b) what effects and/or resampling is it actually doing. i'm wondering if there is a way to recreate a very similiar effect ITB.
it's brilliant...sounds like boards of canada!!!

Precioso, es como una mezcla de Boards of Canada y Aphex Twin en del disco Selected Ambient Works.

Measures of talent are subjective. Moreover, I get the feeling that this was a demonstration and not an artistic statement. Silly you, indeed.

just wondering if your turntable (RCA?) outs are running directly into the MD??!! or is the turntable running to an amp then out to the MD??!!
