@omniwelder Yea... Only there are more liquid metals and compounds than one.. You're probably thinking of ferrofluid as it is most commonly known :) Hope it helps ya
Yes you Genius. Exactly what I was thinking of, I think I first saw that stuff in a new scientist magazine which I think I still have some where If I dig for it.
Hi :) We can do that, only it's hard to do it with non-newtonian fluids... Much easier with ferrofluid as omniwelder mentioned it... There are many shapes, from geometricaly regular ones to the irregular ones. Check out the experiments with sand on a board with sound frequencies or ferrofluid magnetic manipulation, through computer controled digital technology. I'd love to see electrical surges or a ferrofluid charged with electricity, might even change colors and stuff :) electromagnetism FTW
Can't be 500FPS - maybe the original video was, but for one, the Youtube flash player doesn't do that many frames per second, along with all our displays, which for the most part only render 60 frames per second.
Thats not how it works. You never really play videos at that many FPS. This was just recorded at 500FPS and then when played at 60 FPS you get the slow motion effect :P Replaying a video at 500FPS is insane if not impossible but recording at that FPS is another story tho :)
And then, absolutely useless. The human eye can only see somewhere between 30-50 images per second. Anything much faster than that happens too fast for our eyes to see.
monitors with extremely high refresh rates are actually useful because it allows for 3D images (with 3d glasses aswell) to be played at a decent frame rate.
One clear evidence that its recorded with more frames per second is that you can see the speaker move. The speaker moves with 200 Hz per second, the camera 500, therefore you can see the speaker move.
My 10inch sub can do frequency's ranging from about 30hz to 2000hz
frequency's from 30 an below all the way up to 2000 can be noticed at least with a sub woofer as the logo or symbol on the sub woofer noticeably moves back an forth
i have heard that 60 fps is the fastest the eye can see but i wonder what happens when you see an object in a rapid set of glances...you may still percieve (slightly that there is a space as when you first look at a flashing image there may be a point when you actually percieve the inbetween in the flashing image....normally your brain will overide with the greater info image but if your sweeping your view past quickly you may percieve the blankness as your swithing view points
I'm not trying to sound all-knoledgeable, as that annoys me too. It is possible to record up to (and probably over(?)) 2000fps. Rapid pictures are taken and stored to a RAID setup of hard drives.
yes your right! i have a camera that is HDD (hard drive disk) that records at 4000FPS in full high definition. and some cameras can film at 15,000fps. oh and if anyone is intrested in an affordable slow motion camera that i would advise the JVC evrio GZ7 full HD.
it does 4000fps in full HD and can store over 5 hours of full HD film in an 60GB hard drive.
not trying to be spammish but i know some people are intrested so i thought if i posted this comment someone might read it...
You can film many more frames per second than what you can see, but you only see them all if they are played at a slower rate, like in this video. This is about 30FPS.
You are right, i have searched the web about this. but still this is bad quality and if you have a high speed camera you have a better quality than this. But youtube get the quality down allot.

lots of chaos, I wonder what would happen if we played around with the frequencies, trying to find some way to create the shapes we intend.

scratch visible.. maybe more like you can see it, but maybe a few frames

he think agen 500 fps that is 1 frame per every 2 mili seconds and it take 2-3 mili seconds to save it
and if you look at this you can see all the frames witch only is possible for a human eye at a fps rate of less than 20
