Justine Frischmann was soooo supercool you have no idea. Most female pop stars in the 80s were very girly-sexy (very much like now in fact), and image was everything. Elastica were part of a movement that said 'sod that for a game of poker, I'm gonna wear what I want'. Mostly the bands were male, but then there was Elastica. They showed you could wear cool comfy clothes and still be goddam hotttt! No high heels and lycra miniskirts here!!!
@TimandRuth08 Yeah. Im really fond of girls being a bit more boy-ish..you know. A bit more relaxing and casual style instead of the over the top full make-up high heels dressed bimbo. Which lot of girls and women are still going for..but Im glad that theres lots of exceptions these days..girls who choose to go for a different way.
i love the little lead guitar parts in places...very quirky and so apt- sounds like a beeping horn and the bass sounds like a rumbling engine. very clever...love it.
Apparently, Justine is in Canada these days... studying Psychology, of all things - anyone know if this is true? No apparent reason, just thought I'd ask:)
I thought that she was studying psychology in Colorado, but maybe I'm wrong. If she is in Canada, I hope it's Montreal! I just developed a 14 year old retro-active crush on her. Don't worry about me, I'll be alright.
Pretty sure it's Canada, may be wrong though. Fuck, 14! I'm 20yrs older than you and was 19 when this was on TV/BBC2 - fuck, I'm not getting old I AM old! Enjoy your youth, it disappears all too fucking quickly - have fun, get wasted and do a lot of shagging... haha. Peace out.
That's cool. My writing lacks clarity at times. But I am the older one, I was 33 when this record came out. I guess what I was trying to say was...I think this woman is hot but I'm 14 years too late. Story of my life, LOL!
it sounds nothing like a blur song. i remember graham coxon saying he was jealous of elastica because it was the type of music he wanted to playing at the time. anyway, amazing song/band.
"Shiny bonnet....(her) back on it!" Sexy lyrics and a sly smile. This singer has serious star power. I'm so late to the party...

Doesn't get much more 90's than this- clearly influenced by Graham Coxon's guitar style too.
Really cool dark song- so different from anything released in the 00's.

PS I'm pissed and misunderstood - thought you had a '14-year-old' crush, sorry, just got/caught your meaning. Don't mind me:)

I am sure it is my imagination, but it strikes me that almost every song Elastica performed had the same bass line.

I knew you meant that "affectionatley" and very nice of you it was too........
Give it 5 years I wreckon (they) will get bored and reform, I think some of them have got their priorities sorted a bit better now anyway.
Also I'd like to ask you?? What happened???!!!
orangecouldofbeen 2 years ago
Industry happened: "Idols" & 360 deals. Prezel music, that's what happened.
The music industry moves extremely fast once they sense they've lost grip.
LunaSeaSane 2 years ago
Actually its more than likely it was Donna's the guitarists smoking of heroin.
