Well, packaging is variable. GW lets you buy keys for the games online, thus no packaging. And, meanwhile, I would rather own something for $40-50 than rent it for $10 a month if I know I'm going to use it for more than 4 or 5 months. If you can only access the extras (i.e. new classes, quests, etc.) while subscribing, you'll only be able to use them while FSS maintains the servers. However, if I buy an expansion with the extras, I can use them in singleplayer in 20 years even if FSS dies out.
Lol... how many times must we have this discussion Scythe.. people just aren't going to be happy no matter what you do and if some people are happier paying for expansions rather than paying a subscription online for the extra content then FSS is going to cater to them.
the expansion model is a big waste of money, all the packaging and such. such a waste of time and money. subscription and paying for ongoing content is a better business model for all involved.
I like the idea of getting an expansion pack every 3 months for $30 better than paying $10 every month for 3 months to get the update content since expansion lets you keep what you buy.
So does your single player character transfer over to multiplayer, or are they two different characters?
