Am I the only person who thinks that Lila really loved Dexter in her own messed up way and that she didn't deserve to be killed by the man she loved? She was obviously bat shit crazy, but so is Dexter really. I just think there was a genuine love there, from her side at least. Considering what she was willing to do for him I thought it was incredibly cruel of Dexter to abandon and later on kill her the way he did.

Just finished the second season. Lila was meant to be with Dexter and he knew it that's why he killed her. He doesnt want to be happy because then he wouldn't need to kill anymore. He wasn't ready to give that up yet.
The only redeeming quality of the murder of Lila is that he acts according to his evil nature. Thousands of women fall hard for this type of sociopaths. Lila touched him like no other woman ever has and even had him temper his urge to kill, but he ends up killing her because that is who he is; an unchangeable and unredeemable serial murderer. The writers made Lila look evil to make sure the audience didn't turn against Dex for this one.

Look am NOT defending her. she is Glenn Close-Fatal Attraction psycho. She only tried to kill him after she realized he was trying to cut her into pieces. Not a given she wanted to kill the kids, she used them to lure him to her, but left the windows open so he could save them. She just saved his own skin with Doakes. Not as black and white as you think. It is a game between two psychopaths and he wins. You root 4 him caz you like him, since he's the "hero", but he is psychopathic killer.

I think the writers are tellings us something about how Dex's inability to bond. The way he is utterly uninterested in sexy/erotic images of women as Doakes points out; Rita is a total cover so he can "hide in plain sight". There is no reason for someone like Dex to like Rita at all; he is totally, 100% fake w/her; sometimes, he cant even perform in bed with her. Lila interests him caz she is a psychopath like him. But, kills her just like he killed Miguel, his only love.

Here's the thing: Season 2 was the best because it slowly introduced Lila as someone of not much importance to the main antagonist but until the last episode she didnt do anything to be killed, so it made me feel like she would live... but then when Dexter said "You'll be taking a trip with me alright... in a garbage bag." I had to clap. and when dexter rescues the children and deb helps... love this show!!!!!!! and the paris kill was sweet
I would have liked Dex and Lila to get togather because she accepted him as the bay harvard butcher but when she started getting all crazy and tried to kill dexter thats when I wanted her to die.
I was really hoping in the beginning that things would workout between the two :(

Just finished the second season. Lila was meant to be with Dexter and he knew it that's why he killed her. He doesnt want to be happy because then he wouldn't need to kill anymore. He wasn't ready to give that up yet.

The only redeeming quality of the murder of Lila is that he acts according to his evil nature. Thousands of women fall hard for this type of sociopaths. Lila touched him like no other woman ever has and even had him temper his urge to kill, but he ends up killing her because that is who he is; an unchangeable and unredeemable serial murderer. The writers made Lila look evil to make sure the audience didn't turn against Dex for this one.

Very simple, he choses Rita because it is not comfortable for him to be with someone like Lila who made him get in touch with his good side. Rita is comfortable and the perfect victim for a pyschopath like him. Low selft steem, with kids, damaged from hix of bad relationships, unsexy, easily conned, but best of all the perfect cover for "normal" and busy with kids means he can indulge in his urges at will. Dex says to himself at some point that Lila can help him get over his urge.

I think the writers are tellings us something about how Dex's inability to bond. The way he is utterly uninterested in sexy/erotic images of women as Doakes points out; Rita is a total cover so he can "hide in plain sight". There is no reason for someone like Dex to like Rita at all; he is totally, 100% fake w/her; sometimes, he cant even perform in bed with her. Lila interests him caz she is a psychopath like him. But, kills her just like he killed Miguel, his only love.

Here's the thing: Season 2 was the best because it slowly introduced Lila as someone of not much importance to the main antagonist but until the last episode she didnt do anything to be killed, so it made me feel like she would live... but then when Dexter said "You'll be taking a trip with me alright... in a garbage bag." I had to clap. and when dexter rescues the children and deb helps... love this show!!!!!!! and the paris kill was sweet
