  • An upside-down flag is an international sign of distress.

Time for the know-nothings to step aside and let some common sense rule- education: Science, arts. Show some compassion for another person.

  • I support these guys. But I think flipping the flag is a little disrespectful.

  • Even the other posts in this room show heaps of anti-Americanism. VFP sent economic aid to Nicaragua while the communists ran the country. They dropped the aid when the communists lost power. Dis the same thing for Saddam's regime.

  • @RovingCounter Weird, considering they went to war.

  • This is good to see again. We are going to do it again this year. War is a curse and peace is a blessing.

I was a conscientious objector to the vietnam war and I am a member of the Smedley D Butler Brigade in Veterans for Peace. I love these guys - they really hate war!

  • See now since Vietnam, the first Iraq war, and then this, it woke the troops up to the truth about the past 100 years if not thousands of years of lies. Specifically the past 100 years of destruction in the name of an agenda that doesn't support American people.

  • this makes me really proud

  • The US Gov. is warmongering assholes. They dont give a damn about vets. Hooray for AWOL soldiers who refuse Iraq service, I did.

  • Wtf?

    You are NOT an American.

  • @legggomyego Really? He fought in the military. Did you?

  • When are people going to learn that the flag being flown upside down is a sign of DISTRESS not disrespect! These guys didn't march down the street dragging the flag on the ground but some of the by standers acted as if they did. Notice how violent the pro war people were, jesus people this is a democracy the last time I checked and people with different opinions then yours have a right to express them. Don't like their message, ignore them, don't accost them or call them traitors.

  • Ignorance is bliss, until it accepts the welcome one has created and kicks open the door.

    ♡(((( Critical*Mass ))))♡ ♡Step*It*Up-N.O.W.♡

  • These are the brave guys who were arrested, but the charges were dropped. Why? Because they have the right to protest peacefully....despite the fascist government that won't even allow our vets who fought for freedom and our rights, to practise their rights.

  • World Against War -- join the global demonstration March 15th

Please join us, tell your friends, workmates and neighbours and make sure that on Saturday March 15 George Bush and Gordon Brown cannot ignore the fact that the world is against their wars.

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • Respect for the veterans and for the video.

Paul- PLEASE do not use red fonts, it just unreadable... White fonts with black thin outline works great on internet videos.

  • These old guys, all Veterans and so unlike the guys in all of the veteran organizations I've seen. The Veterans that were in the thick of the fighting, can't stand the idea of any one having to go through what we did. The rest of them are wantabes, they think. I've been there done that shit. War Sucks and is not safe for children and other living things. I Love Those Old Guys.

  • FIGHT THE WAR!!!

    We need a revolution!

  • Amazing people. Thanks for doing it. And "PaulRifkin" thanks for posting it.

  • dude

    where's my first amendment?

    VETERANS FOR PEACE!

  • Veterans barred from a Veteran's parade. What's wrong with this picture. Defend the Constitution, that is the American way not nationalistic jingoism. Vote Kucinich in 08 - end war as an instrument of foreiegn policy!id

  • THANK YOU! Thank you for your service to our country, thank you for speaking out. Count on me to write letters about this shameful arrest. With you, ALWAYS!

  • This really p*sses me off! They should have pulled rank on those cops. The governor should have them all fired.

  • Did you see the guy, towards the end, with the peaked hat and yellow strikes on his arm? He's a seargent (military police, probably), and it's unlikely that any of them had a higher rank than him (General in the US I think is the only one higher. There's also warrant officer in the UK)

  • "The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional as to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their country." ~George Washington

    __________

This administration mocks vets and our troops hourly, using them only as backdrops for photo ops. Bush/Cheney disgrace us, as do those to attempt to silence free speech.

  • What a SHAME!

Vote and support Ron Paul and the war will end!

  • WHo can we all email or call in support of these veterans? This is an absolutely

S H A M E F U L way to treat our vets. I want to find an email address to tell them what I think -- anyone else??????

  • If you want to make a REAL impact now-a-days do it with snail mail. They basically have to open it. I have already written a letter to both of these addresses. THE AMERICAN LEGION NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS Washington Office 1608 K Street, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20006 THE AMERICAN LEGION NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS Indianapolis Office 700 North Pennsylvania St. P.O. Box 1055 Indianapolis, IN 46206
  • Thank you so much Just. I will also. Soph.

  • Stop those veteran terrorists!!!

  • @RoninGutts I saw them commit no acts of terrorism

  • God bless you guys! It is a terrible shame that anyone in this country is arrested when appropriately exercising their freedom of politcal speech. How anyone can do this to veterans in America is beyond belief.

  • Thank you for having the courage to fight for your country for a second time. I hope I can be as strong and courageous as you have shown yourself to be.

  • People better wake up and fight to take our country back. What are YOU doing for your kid's future? We better vote the double-talking, lieing, self-serving and corrupted politicians OUT OF OFFICE NOW!!! Ron Paul 2008!!! Wake up folks!

  • Dennis Kucinich is also a good bet to help get our country back. He actually drafted legislation to impeach VP Cheney for all the lies and BS that got us into the war and all the secrecy that is now our government. Precedent they are now setting the precedent for the future regardless of what party hold the power, neither is truly looking out for We The People.

  • If you ever wonder what courage looked like? Now you know.

  • Good for you Vets for Peace

  • Gaiaonline sucks.

  • this video clearly shows what has happened to our country and where it is going. So the question is....what are YOU going to do about it?

  • awesome.....made me sad,. When a man becomes a police officer he dreams of helping his fellow man and helping his government - Those who cannot make the decision to serve his fellow man over his government is the weakest of all.

  • ...this made me sad, and happy that there are people that are still standing up for what this country is SUPPOSED to be about. They stood up for it once, and are doing it again. Thank you

  • People go to war for lots of reasons. I would imagine that after these vets experienced war they LEARNED the nature of war and decided its not something they want to be a part of

  • The clip ends with a great quote: we are here and we are not going to go away.

God bless you and your peace efforts.

  • Thanks for posting this! from a Tucson Raging Grannie.

  • We were also banned from marching at the Flag Day parade in Saratog Springs, New York but we marched on the side curb anyway and didn't mind getting bashed by some of the public. However, most of the public was supportive.

We just have to continue doing it.

Many thanks to you all folks.

I am a native of Iraq and can't be silent while my loved are being killed every second as we speak.

God bless Iraq, god bless America.

    Salam:)

  • this is a great video, and plus i was there! yayyyy Vets for Peace and CODEPINK!

  • I can't believe that the city of Boston refused to let actual veterans march in a Veteran's Day parade! Shame! When are we gonna start doing the right things in life? Jesus wept.

  • We're organizing a radio show call in blitz 4 the first week of December. The idea is to get thousands of people to call shows that ignore Ron Paul. These shows are heard by millions of people. Imagine if ten people got through on each show.

    Michael Savage Show 1-800-449-8255 6pm - 9pm ET

    Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly 1-877-9-NO-SPIN 12pm - 2pm ET

    Rush Limbaugh Show 1-800-282-2882 12pm - 3pm ET

    Sean Hannity Show 1-800-941-7326 3pm - 6pm ET

Please help us by copy and pasting.

  • Good Job Guys. Respect.

    Vote Ron Paul for peace.

  • Thank you.

We are all in debt to your bravery, again.

  • Shows what the world needs to see -- that not all of us are blind to the corporate money grab that is war in general and Iraq specifically.

  • Bravo! Thank you!!!

    Armistice Day

    Remembrance Day

    Veterans' Day

    A day to remember/ honor selflessness;

    NOT to glorify war;

    if anything -

to shame the the war makers' selfishness

and the silence of the complicit.

    Salaam, Shalom, Peace.

  • Hey guys, thanks for marching for peace. But, does the government or the slaves of this empire give a care at all for what is right? As to the American Legion, God forgive her, she's a kneeling with the rest.

  • Weeping in shame that you were excluded. Weeping in pride for Veterans for Peace for your courage & conviction. Weeping for the emotional vet that you touched during your march. Weeping for our military being used as fodder for imperialistic goals.

  • This story is also on d i g g . c o m ....Be sure to visit d i g g and look for the video under heading and d i g g it up.

UNBELIEVABLE: Peaceful War Hero's Cuffed and Carted Away on Parade Day

  • Thank you so much, we are all in it together.

  • Great Work protestors and videographers!

    Fight Power not People

  • VFP Boston - Get your local ACLU chapter to provide an attorney to sue the city and the American Legion for violating your Constitutional right of freedom of expression. We here in Austin VFP have not been excluded from our local Veterans' Day parade. You fought for this right as veterans. Bless you all for your courage and creativity in participating as you did in the parade!

  • Any reason why we "regular" Americans shouldn't put pen to paper and write the American Legion and express our disappointment in their lack of support for our Veterans for Peace?

  • Long live the Veterans for Peace. You are an inspiration to us all.

  • They DID let people have a peaceful parade. They stood silently at the ceremony. The "drama" is the horrible sadness and grief we feel for all those who have died, been wounded, or traumatized in Bush's oil war.

Thank you Veterans for Peace for taking a principaled stand against a horrible war that we shouldn't be fighting.

  • "it's honoring vets, thats the holiday, "

    WHOAA! Honoring ALL vets, please.

  • HAHAHAHA, what are you talking about??? Where did I say "only vets that support the war?? All I'm asking is that you use some common sense and not have me checking these mails just to read something that doesn't make any sense.

  • It appears to me that they did have a very "peaceful" parade. As to drama...thank god for the VFP who were willing to actually show by their actions that silence is not an option when your country is going down the wrong road, and destroying its youth yet again. Thanks to each of those willing to be arrested for the 1st Amendment!!!!

  • I don't support being on the ground in Iraq, but it's a holiday to honor vets, not to have a political march all mad and yelling. Do that if you want, but don't use vets day, when people might just want to have a peaceful happy day.

  • VFP is not a strident organization. Remember they are VETERANS for PEACE. They want our nation and world to have "peaceful happy day"s every day. Wake up, we all must speak out or this will be just another endless war, just like the Vietnam Conflict was until the people and the SOLDIERS stood up and said NO MORE!.

  • Can we not honor ALL vets? They did nothing to keep from everyone having a peaceful happy day.

  • It's like talking to a wall with you people....

So marching in a vets parade OR BEHIND it, yelling chants against our Pres....thats peaceful and honors vets? I DISAGREE WITH BUSH, and I know I have a right to say so, but I calmly talk about it with people, and don't bust up in a peaceful celebration, yelling about how much I hate somebody!

  • You don't get it do you? You are numbed. Talking has done nothing- we need to redress our grievances and it is allowed by the Constitution and the Mayor of boston as well as the Superintendant of the BPD need to get a copy of said document.

    Signed,

The Sons and Daughters of Liberty!

  • How about letting ALL veterans be honored on Veterans Day?

The parade WAS peaceful. Why is it that war supporters cry for peace and denigrate those who are active in making peace the goal instead of war?

  • What kind of idiot thinks you can have peace without diplomacy.....Bush, that's who. And apparently you as well.

The TRUE warriors code is prepare for war but pray for peace. People join the military for a wide variety of reasons, but, barring the psychos and war-mongers, they hope that the CinC will be smart enough NOT to go to war for something as stupid as oil and the almighty dollar....

  • I ask you the same question I ask everybody else and never get an answer. How is the war for oil? And how is it helping Bush? I really am asking the question, because I don't have any idea. If he got control of all this oil, wouldn't heuse his "power" to lower gas prices and get people to like him?

Oh, and we've been doing "diplomacy" with Saddam for over a decade, and he's never kept his word.

  • There is a book out titled "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins. You can google it. This can answer you beter than I can.

Absolute power corrupts absolutly. Bush is the acting POTUS. Bush is an oil man. Cheny is a big buisness man. It's the oldest reason for war; You have it. I want it.

    Peace

  • @shreddog2049 try Family Of Secrets too

  • Research on the meaning of "defense," and on who joins the military and why.

Research "draft" while you're at it.

  • Great video as I sit here with tears in my eyes for ALL of America. It isn't the peaceniks against the soldiers. It is Americans for Americans. We love our Veterans of War old and new, we just wish we could see a day when there were only a few.

  • Can't anyone or anything unite this great country? When has censored speech, torture, wiretapping without warrants, greed and empire building been a part of our country and why, oh why are we allowing it to happen. Once we head down this destruction of the Constitutional road, can we ever go back?

  • Thank you to ALL our War Veterans for you have seen and done things that we can never understand, yet as we try to we realize it isn't something that any wise, fair and civil nation should casually contemplate. War is hell, and those who survive endure their own kind of hell for the rest of their lives.

  • We need to do more for our service men and women when they come home, care and love them and show them we understand what WE asked them to do. We need to end this war now and never engage in a pre-emptive war of aggression to feed the greed of a few.

  • Bill of Rights

    Amendment I

Congress shall make NO law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;or abridging the FREEDOM of SPEECH, or of the press;or the RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, and to petition the government for redress of grievances.

    Standing tall, gentlemen.

  • Beautiful. Thanks so much!

  • RIGHT ON! YOU GUYS (AND GAL) ROCK!

What an honor it would have been to be arrested with you.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THE NATION. THANK YOU FOR STANDING UP FOR WHAT AMERICA USED TO STAND FOR.

  • That was an awesome job of standing up and being counted! BRAVO to all of you!!

  • good work!

  • NH VFP stands in solidarity with the Smedley Butler Brigade!

    Stand for Peace!

  • Great job! Who better to stand for peace than a veteran who has had a personal experience with war.

  • My heart goes out to the Veterans.

Please keep up the good work .

Thanks you for posting this video.

  • WOW, you guys are tops! Nice job.

    Gordon Sturrock

    VeteransAgainstTorture

  • great video

  • Thank you for the powerful and VERY well done video.

Veterans for Peace are the finest!

Being arrested is both a powerful statement and an empowering act. Do not fear it.

  • Being arrested for wanting PEACE is another sign of fascism in the USA. Thanks Bush.

  • What courage it took to film this event! I'm thrilled that this parade was taped and recorded...what a terrific accomplishment!

  • Fantastic! Paul, what a terrific short film...It took guts to try to record such an event...I'm thrilled that you had a courage to stand up for "Peace" and film this event. And, you put together this short in less than 24 hours!!!!!

  • Thanks from here, too! It took courage, skill, and a love for peace and the willingness to work for it against all odds!

We need to see more videos of vets and peace-loving people being mistreated.

  • Great job! Voices of peace cannot be silenced.

  • The need for clear voices from the people to end this war is obvious.
