  • This one :-)

  • HUAHAUHAUHAU USE THE FORCE!

  • @danisorde The force is strong with you. I've made a few other star wars videos and I'm planning another

  • @Kie77 haha nice man, but dont forget even in the hard work there is a way to the dark side

  • @Kie77 After Effects?

  • hey check out mine too! thanks

  • @IRONWHEELS199 Will do buddy

  • It really blends in with the low quality camera, I do say. Seems realistic.

  • @TNinja0 Yeah, I think I filmed this on an old camera phone. It's one of the 1st FX I ever did

  • really impressive effects kieran.

  • @LoneSoul0742 This was pretty much the first ever special FX I ever did.

  • very cool

  • @Kingucktoad Thank You

  • the opening of the sword sounds like a sith lightsaber.

  • @commanderlucifer Wow, you know your lightsabers mister! :)

  • @commanderlucifer You know, every now and then I hear from people who think they can identify a lightsaber by its ignition sound. But you can't! You can find proof in Episode 3. Obi-Wan's lightsaber makes a very sharp, aggressive sound when ignited. So it seems that kind of sound is not reserved for Sith sabers.

  • LMFAO! use the force!

  • The force is strong with you young padawan

  • how did u make the special effects??

  • I used a program called "Adobe After Effects". You should check out my other lightsaber video as this one was just a practice

  • after effects or lsmaker

  • @reismilch After Effects

  • Not bad :/

  • Thanks Ninja. This was an early test shot I did. I've made a much better lightsaber video since then.

  • ok kool I'll check, so who's your fav star wars character? and fav lightsaber?

  • Hmmmmm. Boba Fett and Mace Windu's saber I'd say.

  • OH MY GOD! SAME HERE!!!!

  • lol

  • fake

  • You shall not pass!

  • all these commants are good but ur 1 star? thats out.. 5/5!

  • Thanks notacook. I appreciate all the stars :)

  • Very nice, lol

  • Thanks man. This was my first attempt. You should check out my 'Kie vs Dan' video, it's way better.

  • use the force and keep entertaining us!

  • Oh I will. I was going to juggle lightsabres next just for your entertainment....but I lost an arm in practice.

    Ouch!

  • Estoy un jedi, la force est fuerte :)

  • Lol xD

  • nicely done!

I did a version of my own of this effect check it out Kieran

  • Good ending.. because it was unexpected.

  • Why thankyou kind lady.

  • I see you use After effects. That is way too expensive for my budget. I used a free program called LSmaker. It took a couple of thousand frames to edit. Is After Effects easier?

  • After effects is fairly straight forward once you get your head around it. Making lightsabres though, that takes ages as you need to rotoscope every frame, and there are 25 frames per second. This one took me 4 hours going at full pelt.

  • Very good. Really enjoying your videos. I subsribed =)

  • Thankyou so much, that is really cool of you.

  • Thats awesome, I loved the ending lol

  • Wow this is awesome. That sword is just after effects? I thought it was real.

  • As yes, the magic of after effects :) Check out my other lightsabre one, it's miles better.

  • I will!:) Check my vids. too! I want a banner :)!

  • great job. how did you make it? after effects?

  • Thanks Raghav. Yes, I used Adobe after effects. Check out my Kie vs Dan clip, it is much better :)

  • oh.k...btw nice effects you've put in the colab video.

  • The animal video? Ah yes, thankyou. i thought I'd try something different :)

  • lol

  • oh yeah, and i have no clue, but do you have to do it frame by frame?

  • Pretty much you have to do it frame by frame yeah. When the blade is still you can get away with a gap between keyframes. But when the blade is moving, and espacially when it is moving fast, you do need to go frame by frame. Put on your favourite music and just get stuck in, you need to have patience but it'll be worth it.

  • i'm going to try this tonight. I've actually never used after effects, but i found a tutorial video of how to do this. How long did this one take you?

  • where?

  • search light sabre tutorial or after effect tutorial

  • This took me 4 hours from start to finish. The rotoscoping process needs patience. I then had to map lightsabre sounds that I felt matched the movements.

I've made short fight sequence since then and plan on making something a little more interesting later this year

  • first attempt? really nice... a little catchy when you spin it around... but cool for a first try :)

  • Thanks Onirele. I do have another clip which was shot using newspapers. This was my first real attempt at showing off the lightsabre. I plan on shooting a much longer fight scene next. It'll take a while but should be fun :)
