A cancerous tumor paralyzed her right arm in early 1979. In her final singing appearances on television (most notably on the Mike Douglas Show), her right arm would remain in a fixed position during her performances.
Seeing this video and then seeing the air date, it's hard to believe that she died less than a month after this aired. She seemed as though she was making such progress but I guess that's the thing with cancer; it's such a deceptive disease. RIP Minnie. You still live on through your wonderful music and through your children and grandchildren.

This remarkable woman was in so much pain during this interview. At times you can clearly see she's in pain and somewhat upset (she knew she was dying and didn't have much time left but only a few weeks), but yet you see her smile and laugh as she puts her best face forward.

this was minnie's last interview and this show's how much sprit and stright she had. throw all her pain and not to b able to move her right arm she kept going on as long as she could, that was her gift to all of us to let her fans see her love and sprit, i have been to minnie' grave to show my love&respect for her. i was 19 when she died. now i'm 49 still love her &her music. 10-14-09,

This remarkable woman was in so much pain during this interview. At times you can clearly see she's in pain and somewhat upset (she knew she was dying and didn't have much time left but only a few weeks), but yet you see her smile and laugh as she puts her best face forward.

I can't believe she did this interview weeks before passing from breast cancer. I recently read where Maya Rudolph and her daughter watch "Grandma Minnie" on Youtube. That is one way she keeps her mother's memory alive for her daughter. Thank you Youtube!

This is amazing to me, I was only 4 when she passed but I remember my dad played the album over and over again (with her on the cover w/the ice cream cone) and to me most people who have cancer have this "sickly look" - i should know my bro in law had the SAME look one month before he passed w/cancer but she doesn't even look sick at ALL! RIP Minnie - one of THE most angelic voices that has graced my ears

I know what you mean. I lost my dad to cancer last year. He only weighed 100 pounds when he died. You could tell he was sick. Minnie looked great. If you didn't know she had cancer you'd never know by looking at her.
