Oh and Steve Morse, Brian May and John Petrucci uses their stuff too...
HEY GUITAR WORLD. Yeah, you guys. STOP putting the stupid reverb/fattening effects on the original signal. If you're concerned about stereo image, make Paul's mics stereo and leave the mono amp signal the way it is. We can't hear how good this processor sounds because of the stupid effects you put on it. Trust me, it doesn't do the gear any justice at all. You didn't even demo the amp models! All you did was show off the weirdest presets on the device. The same ones I immediately overwrote!
tc nova sounds way better and easier to use and only 150 more go with tc system and you wont be dissapointed i had one of these for a week took it back and bought the tc nova a world of difference
@MrSwapp2 uh... I'm in a band with a G9.2tt and the other guitarist uses a POD HD 500, and we compared similar patches (VOX AC-30 with 2x12 cab, dynamic mic) sounded tinny and lifeless on the POD, despite my best efforts to warm it up. I barely made any changes to the G9.2tt's model, leaving everything but the preamp and cab sims off. Sounded accurate from the get go. Keep in mind the POD HD is much, much newer than this. Also Guitar World's gear videos are the worst about original sound.
WAY too much pedal. I'm not new to processors, specifically Zoom.
It's just far too elaborate. Maximum tweakablity?
You'll be working on perfecting patches for fucking YEARS! lol
I mean yeah, it kicks the shit out of ANY OTHER PROCESSOR on the market but so what. it's really intended for an end all, be all studio monster that eliminates 40 other pieces of equipment.
Ok, I have a problem, the tip of the headphones plug got loose inside the input jack and is currently stuck in there, any ideas how to get it out? (I already tried really thin tweezers)
I have a g7 and I love it.It is quite tweakable and being that the g9 is teh top of g series it is even better. It is 90% opinion and what one prefers when it comes to tone.I have played through tons of boutique equipment and I can get pretty much any tone i want from my zoom.
@OMNINIGKILL As a matter of fact the only multi effects pedal that was on the same level was the vox tonelab and I have owned multiple digitech and boss pedals.
he"s right! I"Ve got a zoom 9150 and it only has one tube and not much for electrinics inside and even made with some flimsy metal and plastic chassis"..boy was i suprized with the beefy sound from this.People rave about the JMP-1".I have more fun playing the 9150 then I did with the JMP-1"s I dumped. My Rocktron Pirahna Is "Gold Jackpot" for for tone shaping! Still have"nt found any other pre that will touch the Pirahna when it comes to Sheer POWER and Dynamics! 2120 digitech is 2nd place".
Some news of my test with G9, compared with HD 500.... holy s&*t !!! Very well built unit... but sound so thin and digital. Tubes bring some presence, ok. Little definition in sounds, sound almost cut off when volume knob of guitar half way, so just little dynamic possible. I don't like Zoom sound signature. Wah is horrible. Technology from the past. Not even in the same league with HD.
@Pathvoid sounds like your compressor is up to high also if you're running it with the znr it just squeezes the signal too much and won't let the signal breathe for some reason the default on most settings both are on
@Pathvoid sounds like your compressor is up to high also if you're running it with the znr it just squeezes the signal too much and won't let the signal breathe for some reason the default on most settings both are on keep workin with it
It's not plastic. The buttons are steel. I should say the switches are stell. I've had a G2 for 7 years and gigging it steady with no issues but had to solder the ac jack once.
I'm waiting for mine. I actually own a HD500 but man, i want a 2 channels per preset, I want 3 pedals, 2 tubes ( and they make a difference.. ), a faster response when switching presets , an acoustic simulator, a polyphonic pitchshifter. Don't get me wrong: HD 500 is fine and soud amazing. I'll A\B the units and let you know my appreciation. Keep on rockin' anyway !! ;-?
A friend of mine has been using the G9.2tt for some years now...quick capsule review:
This thing sounds absolutely awful, believe me. It may have some crazy effects (every multi has them), but it's virtually impossible to get a good rhythm-sound out of it. Apart from that it's built horribly bad and will start falling apart after some months of use.
Buy some other multi (Line6, Vox, Boss...doesn't matter) and you are guaranteed to get a better unit.
@xngr I don'tknow what your buddy did to his pedal but I have had mine 2.5 years with zero problems and have giged with it droped it and just abused it in general and it is built like a tank not to mention it has one feature that you don't find in alot of pedals transparency it does require alot of tweaking to find your sound but patience will be rewarded
You are one of those guys who scoops the hell out of their mids, and when playing live all the audince can hear is white noise, all the while thinking you're killing, right?
People, for crying out loud, these companies, all of them, are cashing in on your stupidity, get yourself a decent tube amp, that's all you need. I have played for years with nothing but a crate V32, from country to metal, it's sounds fantastic, every time, clean or dirt, with no more then 5 knobs. this is awful
@marviosantos lol you are so far beyond wrong midrange is my friend :) I also rarely turn the gain beyond 70 on the pedal also I'm am clever enough not to turn the 12ax7s all the way up and yes I mainly play death metal as well as classical and have been playing long enough to get most of my sound from technique and calling ppl stupid is rediculous since everyone knows CRATES ARE WHAT REAL AMPS COME IN quit being so cheap and by a decent amp and maybe you'll have more options \m/
@marviosantos one quick note for ppl who are interested the cab simulator is mainly for direct recording if you are useing this pedal though you're effects loop of your rig turn it off and you will be rewarded also this is a very transparent pedal so if you are just starting out it will magnify all your mistakes
@VIZZICKS One wouldn't imagine Zoom marketing people to be so bad at english...
But seriously, I really hope you're trolling. The only mistakes this unit will magnify is your inability to hear properly - it even sounds like shit in this demo video..
@xngr yes this vid does not do it justice and this pedal is not for everyone only for ppl who can read an insrtuction manual and I guess while you were learning proper grammer I was learning to play guitar which would explain why you are trying to tell me about what sounds good when you've already admited to playing through a crate as far as bein a troll if you read my comments they offer insight to help ppl use this unit instead of calling everyone stupid so who's the troll here
@VIZZICKS I never even said anything about using a Crate, that was another guy - so much for being able to read.
And by the way, I'm trying to help people too by telling them to get some other multi-fx unit.
We even tried running it through a high quality speaker impulse response (i.e. those things that make almost anything sound good) and it still had absolutely no definition and vanished instantly in any kind of mix, unlike the sounds we made with other units (POD HD, Vox Tonelab).
@xngr yep you caught me in a mistake I couldn't tell the difference between either of you and those other units are much easier to use and if you just want to plug in and play without haveing to do much thats fine but if you want something that you can costumize your tone with the zoom can't be beat and as far as finding a good one please refer to my above comments I do like the vox as well but the hd is pretty generic sounding like a souped up spider
@VIZZICKS so I guess I'll agree with the fact if you don't have the patience to figure out how to make this sound good or are a hobby guitarist who just doesn't care if you sound like the rest of the flock or need a unit thats good at hideing sloppy playing line 6 is awesome hell why not just get a digitech but if you want real tube tone zoom can't be beat and if you can't find several good sounds with this unit maybe it's time to realize zoom isn't the problem
@VIZZICKS "but if you want real tube tone zoom can't be beat"
This might be the funniest thing I read this week. Tell that to the guys at Engl, Mesa, Vox, Fender, Peavey etc..You're really cracking me up!
Besides, you've just gone from "different opinion" to just plain wrong. "Real tube tone" comes from tube power amps, while the Zoom only has a tube pre-amp (or as I like to call it, a marketing trick), which can't possibly compensate for amp models this bad.
@VIZZICKS I guess I should stop arguing with you now. Everyone makes mistakes when they start off and it can be pretty hard to be objective about your own gear, especially when you're still young and that's okay.
There's so much to learn and so much experience needed that you can't get everything (or anything in most cases) right the first time. But that's part of the thrill, isn't it?
So keep playing, training your ears and growing up and someday you'll understand what I was trying to tell you!
@xngr damm you are a funny one I play through a jmp with a 1960 cab so maybe you should quit playin through shit equipment and quit blameing zoom for your lack of technique and as far as mesa engl vox etc etc (your dumbass didn't even mention marshall what the hell do you know about tone)I don't have the 20 something grand it would cost to get all the sounds I get from my zoom and I would wager you don't either but I would bet your money would better be spent on lessons
@VIZZICKS the fact of the matter is is this is not a "novice pedal" it's way to tweakable for someone who hasn't a clue what they are doin so stick with your line 6 buddy I got a feelin it's right up your alley and if your anywhere near oklahoma city I'll be more than happy to give you lessons with my 20+ years of playing exp(I have a few spots open in the middle of the week) just send me an e-mail and we'll set something up \m/
@VIZZICKS 20+ years..way to conceal those by writing like a 12 year-old.
You do realize that the long time it takes to get a good tone out of this isn't a point in its favor, right? I'm still talking about heavier rhythm sounds though - there are some tolerable cleans in this thing, but they're still pretty thin sounding. But hey - it has a fancy "3d" pedal!
Oh and sorry for not naming EVERY company that makes tube amps (that's what "etc" is for btw), I guess that really proves my incompetence..
@VIZZICKS The Zoom isn't even really tweakable, too: You can't change the order of the effects, some of the parameters have pathetic ranges, the gain settings don't do much above 30 or so, the list goes on and on. So that's not even a matter of opinion, unlike sound quality.
Usually I only take lessons from people who know what they're talking about and can articulate themselves, but if you're ever near Mönchengladbach I'll be glad to make an exception ;)
I do like this pedal, I bought one and to be honest I find it a bit hard to understand compared to my gfx707 which is really really easy and has some great effects.is their a site with basically an idiots guide on editing effects etc, I do have the guide book but I wouldn't mind it simplifying.I just want the most out of it and at the moment I don't think it's fat greater than my gfx707 as they still have similar sounding effects anyway
Zoom make great pedals (I have a GFX 707 and still use it for a small gig or garden party)... but, I reckon they over loaded this some what. still a good pedal tho. I prefer this to the boss gt-10. Not that this is better it just suites me.
i just got mine today. its beautiful. it turned a mediocre Spider IV into a beast ass combo amp. i just cant figure out how to do the thing at like 5:35. i did it once but i forgot how to do it!!! :( help? i've been reading the manual but i dont know what its called and i honestly dont know what it does. i just know its really cool. :D
@vladimir4651 it has a metronome witch can be put on every sound you want and on top of that gives you the choice of 5 different types of metronome sounds - it has got it build in cause you have to load it from a huge bak of sounds from the cd that comes with for the computer plus it has a tap tempo.....................
ive had mine about 2 and a half years now and its been great! ive never done half of the stuff this guy has done but i sure am now lol....and yer after about a year and a half the tuning switch got a bit stiff and wouldnt work properly for me, but i just opened it up and sprayed some wd40 in it and i was fine. not a problem! the best piece of kit you can get for the money in my opinion...im savin up for extra expression peddals thogh as i need an analogue dalay and it only has digital :)
I had a pretty sweet jam on one of these last night for an hour or so. I can tell you now that its a fantastic unit. It takes a while to get used to editing your own patches but I think thats half the fun. The distortions sound pretty decent too. Next Time I'll put it through my marshall instead of my mates hiwatt bass head. Buy it.
I always am concerned about deciding whether or not to just get start making my own effect boards and purchasing individual pedals.
however, the reality is that for the price of three great effects pedals, you can have the versatility of over 100 effects, WITH Wah AND WHAMMY, not to mention the ease of being able to toggle multiple effects through a single channel and being able to toggle multiple amp sounds and tubes at the same time.
@bonz0416 I havn't tried any of them just looking at reviews and videos on the net!! The me 70's advantage is that it has a phrase loop which the zoom doesn't but the zoom comes with cubeace for recording with a USB port so thats what decided it for me. Theres only €10 of a difference between the 2 of them in musicstore in Germany which is where i get my stuff!
Can anyone help me? I've been thinking for a while now if I should buy this or the Boss ME-70. They are of the same price and looks like they'll do great with home playing, jamming, and gigging. Help. Thanks!
@syndgr834 I'm goin with the zoom g.92tt. I went and tested it at a local music shop. For only $300 it's a lot more diverse and better value compared to the other things I've looked at/played. the gt-10 is like $500 and lacking in distortion. if you have $500 to spend check out the DigiTech GNX4, my fiend has it and the settings/patches he has sound great. I'm goin for the zoom just out of preference and value. It up to you though Good luck.
@syndgr834 no problem, just keep in mind. generally no matter which one you get it's gonna take some tampering to get the sound you are happy with. So just be patient and test each one out before you buy one.
The ZFX3 processor is an Analog Devices chip. Companies should give credit to silicon manufacturers, much like Line6 does. And by the sound of this "console" the ZFX3 is a blackfin processor, which is not meant to be used for heavy sound processing.
@chrmoosdorf it had the overdrive already on.. all he did was use the expression pedal as the volume control.. they're all presets that you should already have
Help! I used to record in Cubase 5 - Line6 Pod Studio GX and everything was ok but now when I zoom G9.2tt - Cubase can not "see" it and I can not burn the guitar in the audio because I can tylkko nargac the laptop speakers ... I do not know what's going on, please help .... Greetings from Polish (google translator)

@xlavok maybe its your cable from the zoom to the computer, you can also choose som Midi things in editidor librarian, and maybe also in cubase. Make shure that its the right cable that goes to midi in and midi out :)
I have a ZOOM G1X right now and I love alot of the sounds that I have on it. However live it can be a bit of a problem switching between various types of distortions and then to acoustics, is this easy to switch between say 4 sounds a song using the pedals?
Does the zoom g9.2tt have a built in tuner?
GuitarDude601 1 month ago
@GuitarDude601 Yes. It offers tuning for 7 string guitar and bass also is offers different tuning modes in open A, G, E, D and DADGAD handy if you not sure what the individual strings tunings are. The user manual is available for download in .pdf format for a full explanation.

VIZZICKS 7 months ago
@VIZZICKS 20+ years..way to conceal those by writing like a 12 year-old.
You do realize that the long time it takes to get a good tone out of this isn't a point in its favor, right? I'm still talking about heavier rhythm sounds though - there are some tolerable cleans in this thing, but they're still pretty thin sounding. But hey - it has a fancy "3d" pedal!
Oh and sorry for not naming EVERY company that makes tube amps (that's what "etc" is for btw), I guess that really proves my incompetence..
xngr 7 months ago

@vladimir4651 it has a metronome witch can be put on every sound you want and on top of that gives you the choice of 5 different types of metronome sounds - it has got it build in cause you have to load it from a huge bak of sounds from the cd that comes with for the computer plus it has a tap tempo.....................

@vladimir4651
I'm not sure if this pedal even has a metronome man :\
Or else it would probably have separate buttons for it like the Zoom G2.1u did xD
but what do I know lol, I don't even read the instruction manuals e_e
anyways, ever since I got this pedal, i've been using an external metronome device

Buy it.

Blackstar HT-5 mini stack on the right and a Vox AD30VT on the left.
Next week the Vox is turning into a Blackheart BH15H and a BL112.
The week after that, I'm going to learn how to play guitar.

hi what effects are you using to get the bubble n video game sound
NoddyBlair 1 year ago
I always am concerned about deciding whether or not to just get start making my own effect boards and purchasing individual pedals.
however, the reality is that for the price of three great effects pedals, you can have the versatility of over 100 effects, WITH Wah AND WHAMMY, not to mention the ease of being able to toggle multiple effects through a single channel and being able to toggle multiple amp sounds and tubes at the same time.
koolmaaan 1 year ago
do the expression pedals have buttons underneath them?
JohnTheRipper2 1 year ago
@JohnTheRipper2
I don't think so; if you are thinking along the lines of a dunlop wah pedal which has a button to toggle the wah effect.
koolmaaan 1 year ago
@JohnTheRipper2 No, but you can just disable a pedal from a patch.

bonz0416 1 year ago
@bonz0416 I havn't tried any of them just looking at reviews and videos on the net!! The me 70's advantage is that it has a phrase loop which the zoom doesn't but the zoom comes with cubeace for recording with a USB port so thats what decided it for me. Theres only €10 of a difference between the 2 of them in musicstore in Germany which is where i get my stuff!

A7XNJ 1 year ago
@A7XNJ thanks man.....I will definitely check out GNX 4 when I buy...Thanks again....
syndgr834 1 year ago
@syndgr834 no problem, just keep in mind. generally no matter which one you get it's gonna take some tampering to get the sound you are happy with. So just be patient and test each one out before you buy one.

For example, have a clean, and then press a footswitch and change to a distorted guitar?

The ZFX3 processor is an Analog Devices chip. Companies should give credit to silicon manufacturers, much like Line6 does. And by the sound of this "console" the ZFX3 is a blackfin processor, which is not meant to be used for heavy sound processing.

I have a ZOOM G1X right now and I love alot of the sounds that I have on it. However live it can be a bit of a problem switching between various types of distortions and then to acoustics, is this easy to switch between say 4 sounds a song using the pedals?

is this fragile coz of the tubes? and does it need to warm up for it to sound a better tone?
