I have to say after giving some great listening to the OD100...it really sounds sweet man. I am looking to maybe get a Landry LS100 oe Splawn Street Rod.....but this is on my list now....
Nice sounding amp! Although I think it has way too much gain even for heavy styles. Every amp manufacturer seems to think it is best to have 4-5 gain stages which ruins the overall tone of the amp. Example, play an old Plexi next to any of these new amps and there is no comparison. The Plexi will just sound so much bigger and better. It took me a long time to realize this, LOL.
Nothing is ruining the overall tone of this amp. This amp sounds bigger and better than just about any amp I've owned or even heard, with the gain up or down.
Honestly, this OD100 makes most other amps sound like a little toy.
You should probably hear an OD100 in person before saying a Plexi will sound much bigger and better. That's simply not true.
GREAT points bro! She does sound killer! How is the 50 watt version? Unfortunately there are none in the are to try! True, I have not played this amp, but in all the years of playing Plexis, JCM800s, Mesas, nothing seems to sound as big as those 2-3 gain stage amps. Again, never playing this one! Wonder if I could find one to play locally. Thanks.
I have a 71 jmp/plexi, a 77 jmp, a CAA od100pt and several Soldano SLO's......you are correct, there is no comparison; the Soldano's and the PT100 absolutely KILL both my Marshall's, at any volume, any tone........but if you really like vintage plexi's, your more than welcome to buy mine.........I'll give you a good deal too....
@mindovermatter1979 Hey man! Nah, I decided to skip on a PLexi. Although a friend of mine with a room fille dwith amps uses nothing but a Plexi, boosted with a dirt pedal and sounds better than any of his other rigs. But for me, I prefer amp gain and use a VHT ST and Bogner 20th Shiva.
@richedie oooohhhhh I do like the VHT's........a friend has a CLX, it's killer......a very fast tracking amp, very very snappy........Its got that high gain saturation thing going on too............sounds like you may be running them cleaner though and pushing the volume really hard....
Some of that had to do with money too. In my opinion, the Peavey sounded ALMOST as good as the SLO and it's less than 1/3rd the price. Others won't agree with that, but that's what I think.
I'm starting to think this CAA OD100 SE+ is the king out of all of the nice amps I've owned! It rocks!
SgtThump I am sure the CAA OD100 SE+ is one of the best amps ever ,but I was angry about the comments that it kills a Marshall....
acnertim 2 weeks ago
yeah thats why you dont see any Soldano on a stage,or almost no CAE,Marshall is the most used amp.....
acnertim 3 weeks ago
@acnertim I agree that a good Marshall head can hold it's own against anything. Not usually for the features or versatility, but for tone.
That said, this CAA OD100 SE+ did abso-f'ing-lutely rock hard and I loved it!

This thing absolutely kills a Marshall head......

Dang! Heavy goodness all around. You have some SERIOUS ampage, my friend.

Yeah man, my friend Jeff was playing those riffs and I had to film it. Seriously tone right there! This CAA amp is unbelievable.
I only have the CAA, Renegade, and 6505+ right now. I go through stuff pretty quickly, just for fun.

Wow, you sold the SLO and kept the Peavey. That says a lot. Out of all the mega-gain amps you've owned, which one's king?
Also, have you heard the OD100 standard+? I'm curious to hear how they're different.
