@NearCry ehh, i used that before i used any other mouse and it was my favorite out of my ec1, mx518, and mx515(five feet). pretty sure they dont make those anymore so yeah.
my abyssus came in the mail today. i switched from a deathadder3.5G to the abyssus. I'm pretty happy with the abyssus even tho I've been a palm gripper for gaming
@asilkx1 I've used the Salmosa for a long time and love it, but they don't make them anymore so a few months ago I picked up the Abyssus. The first thing I noticed was that it didn't track well on my mousepad (destructor) so i went back to the Salmosa. A couple weeks later I bought the SteelSeries 9HD (pretty much the same kind of pad as the destructor) and I tried it with the Abyssus and it tracked perfectly, so that's what I use now. Abyssus with SteelSeries 9HD and I love it.
@NearCry Hey plz i have question..if i have laser mouse with 800 dpi 500 hz and same mouse only optical 800 dpi 500 hz.... will speed be the same when playing cs? sorry for bad english...thanks =)
Very good review. i love your mouse collection. haha
But, I have to say, this mouse is pretty good. It does start to make squeaky noises after a little while.. but.. minor. Overall, i have to say this is a great mouse for girl gamers, such as myself!!! and very inexpensive, light, durable.
@nantendo eventually, i had that squeak on the right click button but it was really low and i almost never notice it, over time it went away on it's own, probably took a couple weeks. I've had this mouse since last fall and it's still going strong
@NearCry hey, yeah i've had my mouse for over a year and a half and it is still going strong. The razer logo has wared off, and a bit of the none slip material on the left mouse button from my nail. But no complaints when i travel with my mouse to and from my bf's house to game, and even slamming it a few times ... its still alive. *knocks on wood*
Razer has discontinued this mouse!! *sigh* I'm screwed. haha
@angelos7 Most mice can work well with any type of games really. I am still using the Salmosa and love it but if you want side buttons you will have to look else where. I play StarCraft and StarCraft 2 Beta with the Salmosa, as well as Counter Strike: Source, Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2. I personally like smaller mice like the Salmosa (I have large hands) because when you use your finger tips, you tend to be more accurate with your cursor movements
@angelos7 oh course dood :) this mouse was actually designed by one of the greatest korean starcraft brood wars and starcraft 2 gamer, Nada (real name- Lee, yun yeon, btw i know ur comment i around 7 months old XD
@lamerslammy I've never used the Krait. I personally hate the Copperhead because if those weird rails that stick out and the bad laser sensor. I'd get the Diamondback 3G over the Copperhead anytime
@lamerslammy Define better. I love the feel of the Diamondback 3G and the sensor is great. I wouldn't mind the Mamba but it's made for palm grippers, I use fingertips. I used the Deathadder for years and I do like it for what it is but it's not the mouse for me. The Naga was build for MMO players and I play mainly FPS, with some RTS. I almost bought it for a review but I don't think it would be something i'd use for CounterStrike or any FPS for that matter. The Razer Imperator may better for me
@lamerslammy you mean the click button squeak? I haven't gotten that on my Salmosa yet and I've had this one since November of '09. I've used the Diamondback for years without any issues at all with the click buttons
@NearCry oh i see.... i think i am going to get mamba... but is kinda troublesome with the charging and what if you are playinf FPS then the battery went flat.....
@lamerslammy You can plug in the mamba and use it as a corded mouse as well, but it you're going to do that, what's the point lol? May as well use a Deathadder I guess. If I was a palm gripper I would probably try it anyway
@lamerslammy That used to be a problem many years ago but these days products are build better so overcharging doesn't happen, instead keeping an empty charge actually would hurt it more. If you charge it often you'll be fine, but if you leave it dead a lot, it may cause problems.
@NearCry what is empty charge? charging without the battery? like what i am doing to my computer? will it cause problems if you take out the battery from the mouse if you are not going to use the mouse?
@lamerslammy what i mean is when a battery gets very low and dead, it tends to damage it slightly, and if you keep letting it die and charge it again...and keep repeating that over and over, the battery tends to not hold a charge as good. it you notice it's getting low, charge it. you can keep it charging all you want and it should be fine
@lamerslammy the mouse has a light on the left side that shows you how much life it has left, should be easy to spot. It's something that would be only on the mouse
UPDATE: I've been using the Salmosa for almost 3 months and no problems to report. I plan to take it to ETS LAN in March and see how that goes. I will be doing a vid for that as well :D
Thanks hellums10. The reason I've started doing hardware reviews was because everyone else seems to not know anything. I've seen professional reviewers that do a pretty bad job at covering some important things. I'm a competitive gamer so the things that I review are things that I've used for a while
honestly polling rate is not all that important. it's just the amount of time your mouse sends information to your comp. i almost can't tell when i change it from 500 to 1000 and it don't effect my game in anyway
im sure it makes a small difference but it's not important
that all depends on the user. most top level players would use a lower sens but members of the CyberRev CEVO-P team use a higher sens and are able to control it. Since 1.6 is a slower pace game you should try a low DPI
you want a high polling rate at all times, that's not something up to preference. the less latency, the better. 1000 hz is optimal, but I used an Intellimouse 3.0 for quite a which only had 125. I overclocked it a bit and was fine.
There is no best DPI, really. Long as it tracks flawlessly. 400 is fine if you play low sens. 1800 is more than enough for high. I use the Salmosa in 1.6. It's set to 800 dpi with the sensitivity lowered in the drivers. works perfectly for me
I played with the Salmosa with the polling rate switch on 800 by mistake instead of my normal 1800 for this mouse, might have played like that for a couple days and didn't notice any difference really so that's why i say it don't really matter
I will be doing a review of the Deathdder sometime this weekor next. I've used that mouse for years and know it's amazing. Also, we will be having members of our CEVO-Pro and ESEA-Invite team say what they think about it in the video
don't make me install the ocz nia......please. reason i picked the Salmosa for my first review was because it's what i use now. i will try to cover anything that people want to see so just let me know and i'll review it. if i don't have it i will get it
