I completely agree with you. It is the teenagers who don't understand the importance of first impression in this country. There are some successful Hmongs but they have been overshadowed by those who act like wanebe gangsters. It is sad and is one of the many issues that the Hmong community needs to address. The sad truth is that there is no true leadership in the Hmong community. The communication gap between the younger and older generation is so wide that nothing gets done.

These are exactly the reasons why we are in America, so we can prevent our people from being persecuted or at least have a voice in the world. We don't have a representative in the United Nations and we as a people do not have a high enough stake in politics to be a priority for the world to care beyond sympathizing with us. Stop fighting amongst each other and start doing something. Pray at the very least if you can't do more.
i hope hmong people would listen, but guess what, those who persecuted our people in laos is our own people. Hmong vs Hmong. They use our people to against us so that when CIA try to find out who's behind all of this; it's our own kind. Smart idea; our Hmong people have no idea what's going on. My heart hurts watching this.I am Lao my parents also "escaped" communism.But it is proven time an time again that when you give any certain group of ppl too much power they can be proven to be fatal.Hmongs should be treated like humans.I never heard of one or known the history until recently.However I wonder if General Vang in his attempts to overthrow communism was also attempting to turn the Lao ppl into the minorities and start treating us like shit.

first of all, i thank laos because hmong ppl found a place to stay when they were being assimilated by the chinese government. but laos ppl shouldn't be killing hmong ppl like animals b/c they joined the americans during tat communism event. loas shouldn't feel hmong ppl are inferior to them since hmong ppl cant do anything to the govt.

@kyoote009 It not really the CIA. Even Vang Pao himself admit it was the CIA funding that he lasted so long. He fought the Vietnamese and Laotian communists since the 1950s. When the US was already in war in the Korean Peninsula already. With T-28, fighter/bomber, and modern combat rifles the Hmong were able to last so long. Also, let us not criticize all Laotian. Two Laotian divisions helped protect Long Cheng with the Hmong more than once from the NVA.

My village ppl used to shared everything with the hmong,at one time I used to speak Hmong really good til I moved to USA in 80.I think Hmong in general think they are entitle to Laos but never realized that most of you survived in Laos from be outs from China.If it wasn't for Laos you would not have a safe haven.Please rethink how you see Laos ppl.This here are the work of bad Government not all Laos!!!

I'm hmong american and I will never go back to laos because I don't like communite rules. the war end 30 years ago but, Laos governments still the same not change to a better way. citizens still treat badly especially the hmong people. Communism is the real plague of the 20th century. It has been used as an excuse for many genocides and now it is looking to irradicate the Hmong. Same was happening in Europe in 1945 when refugees were forcibely returned to their enemies and were savagely dealt with. My condolences to the Hmong people, they have my true respect.

I completely agree with you. It is the teenagers who don't understand the importance of first impression in this country. There are some successful Hmongs but they have been overshadowed by those who act like wanebe gangsters. It is sad and is one of the many issues that the Hmong community needs to address. The sad truth is that there is no true leadership in the Hmong community. The communication gap between the younger and older generation is so wide that nothing gets done.

The sad truth is that there is little that can be done. It's hard to help someone who does not know he has a problem. It's like a wild fire at its' peak, you have to let it take its' course and die down first before attempting to put it out. As for me and you, take one step at time. Be a role model to yourself and family first, then to your friends, from there to people in your neighborhood, and then your community. Starting a youth recreational sports in the community ....

..... alleviate some of the problems. It was sports that shaped me into what I am today. It kept me out of trouble when I was bored as a teen. It taught me about competition, sportsmanship, playing hard but being fair. In the near future, I and a group of friends of mine would like to collaborate with the US Youth Soccer to Association to establish a youth soccer league for the Southeast Asian Americans in our community.

Yes, it is sad, but I have to disagree with you. Yes, even as much generations have passed, how can you sit in the U.S. not knowing that ur parents went thru the same thing. They were promised "freedom" as in the meaning of the hmong people--free people. them being stuck there, y wouldn't they cry for help. you yourself when was younger cried for help, always, always, you found yoruself being helped. These are exactly the reasons why we are in America, so we can prevent our people from being persecuted or at least have a voice in the world. We don't have a representative in the United Nations and we as a people do not have a high enough stake in politics to be a priority for the world to care beyond sympathizing with us.
