My mother played this for me today for the first time; I laughed so hard I cried. It's absolutely hilarious! Bless you for bringing some much needed laughter to my weekend. You're wonderful!
Mrs Robertson you crack me up I work nights and listen to you on Sirius and xm radio and I aint never laughed so hard in all my life keep up the great work thank you so much for keeping us all laughing now a days when we need laughter the most in our life
I never laughed this hard!! Where are the depends when ya need em!! I have been here listening to you for well over an hour already and could probably go the rest of the night if I didn't have to get up in a few hours! Keep em coming! We need all the laughter we can get these days..thanks a million!
Just wanted to say how much I love you... I listen to you on my XM driving back and forth from East Texas to West Texas every other weekend and I laugh so hard I almost cry no matter how many times I hear it... Finally after months of hearing I finally heard your name today and looked it up on here to tell everyone :)
@patsytoland Thx Patsy. I'll make sure to lelt the tolks at XM know you're out there. I'm so pleased you enjoy my work. Now if you run off the road laughing during that long drive, it's not my fault! :) Keep listening. Jeanne
@sexybabibi Oh, my. You are astute! Glad you enjoyed the clip and ... preciate you not typing the punch line. As I said... astute. Keep laughing! Jeanne
Anyone who doesn't enjoy this has got a serious problem. This is just good old fashioned American humor, the kind you can't hardly find anymore. Just sit back,
and enjoy, cause it doesn't get any better than this.
I so wish I would have known about you and your stories Jeanne! Fantastic to hear such good, clean, authentic humor :D Could listen to you for hours and if you're ever speaking anywhere within a day's drive from where I live in NW New Brunswick, Canada, I'll be there! Thank you for sharing here.
I really want to come see you Jeanne! I'm a college student with no significant other but I still really appreciate and love the fact that you see humor in the everyday. I'll keep looking out for your shows!
This is hilarious!! That's why I got mine trained. If he goes to the store to get things, he'll call me on the phone and ask, 'now what am I supposed to get?' and I'll tell him and he stays on the phone while walking down the isles. I bet people look at him crazy, but he's pretty accurate. I think his mama trained him well. And yes, he was raised in the South.
Jeanne, this is the funniest thing I have heard in quite a long time. You are a truly funny woman, and, being 6'5", I happen to find tall women very attractive. HILARIOUS!
My fiancée did the exact same thing one time when I sent him to the store. My sister is worse though when it comes to reading directions. Our mom gave her the recipe for no-bake chocolate cookies (we don't let her use the stove after she burned Jello 4 times). When it came to the line 1/8 tsp salt, she thought it meant 1 - 8 tablespoons so she put in 9 to be on the safe side. The dogs wouldn't even eat them.
This woman is hee-hee-larious...I'm a man & I'm left brain too. But I think after time being with a woman for so long us men develop a natural fear of appearing dumb to the ones we love it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy...lol
Now this IS funny!!!! A dear friend of mine sent me the audio of your 'Don't send a man to the grocery store' more than a year ago so when I discovered your website I returned the favor so she could enjoy the videos on there. Thank you doesn't begin to cover how much I appreciate and enjoy your humor. I am a firm believer finding humor in the every day happenings of our lives. My Mom is 96 and still makes us laugh all the time! God bless you and Jerry as you follow your passion!
Wow! Thanks. What fun. Hope they like the story and the recipe. "Taste of the South" magazine made it in the test kitchen and pronounced it good! Did a story on it which is on my website. You won't believe it. My mother died in 35+ years ago and I've sill got some of her dishes and ... and things she said always pop into my mind. Wish I could have met our "Southern tradition Mom." Keep laughing! Jeanne
America's Test Kitchen has an entry today on their Facebook page about 7-up cake. Naturally, I HAD to send them the link to this. I still laugh every time I see. I inherited the Tupperware and dishes my mother used to take food to friends. It's delightful to hear your hysterical story about our Southern traditions. Mom would have been in stitches hearing you speak.
@JeanneRobertson We had so much fun meeting you!! You and your crew you travel with are all so nice. I hope to see you again sometime. =) I emailed you earlier so I can send you those cards.....=) Take care!
Jeanne, I am just hearing you for the first time and I get that you are from somewhere in the south. My parents live in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and I live in Michigan. Listening to your heartfelt stories reminds me of them and I like that---thanks for the laughs!

I discovered you while listening to Blue Collar Radio on Sirius. You are now my favorite to listen to. Always hysterical and clean! keep up the good work!
I never ever get enough of you and your life stories. We are adopting soon and will be traveling across country.. I told my husband we MUST buy all your CD's before we go so we have a lot of laughs during that stress filled time.
My husband and I love this story! He heard it on his truck radio one day, then he had me laughing at the story. I can't wait to share this with my mom and sisters in law. I've never made a pound cake in my life, but I'm tempted to after hearing this! ha!
Ms. Robertson, I really enjoy your work. You are the best comedian I have heard of. I love a person who can be funny while staying clean! You are truly an inspiration Ms. Robertson.
I discovered your humor via a Facebook posting--and you rock!
Real, clean humor that you don't have to "clean up" is fantastic.
I loved the raft ride description...and all of the others I listened to this evening--and I've personally learned the risks of sending "Left Brain" to the store. Humor has gotten me through the toughest times in my life, and I love to see others celebrating humor too!
Rich. Love tasteful real humor. Never send a man to a grocery store other than for beer, steak and potatoes. LOL. My girlfriend's husband is a doctor and I caught him dumb founded at the grocery store on his cell, telling his wife he couldn't find Olive Oil. He was standing in the bakery isle in front of the oils. I directed him to the Italian isle right next door.
My sister in North Carolina calls and directs me to your site and we commence listening to you. Before long I was on the floor trying not to pee and she was doing the same. I think even my dog was laughing! You are too hilarious and we love you!
What I enjoy most about your humor is that I, too, am married to a Left Brain. My father who passed 9 years ago (& was an engineer!!), used to say "When you ask Dan what time it is, he'll tell you how a watch works & in an hour you WILL know how to make a watch, but you still won't know what time it is..." Thank you so much for your wonderful videos......
My mom sent me the MP3 version of this to me a while back. She passed earlier this month very suddenly and I've had an extremely difficult time. I had my ITunes on random, and this MP3 came up. I suddenly felt like she was sending me a joke and a smile from the other side. Thank you for that!
@naenobe Your comment made me feel so good. What a great way to look at things. I hope you smiled and smiled and smiled. She would want you to. Keep laughing! Jeanne
OMG - The first time I heard this was on Sirius Radio when I was driving home from work & had to pull over I was laughing so hard....Just an amazing woman who tells it like it is...I love her!!!!!! Can I get the receipt for the 7-Up Pound Cake....LOL
I discovered you on Sirius XM and I think your stories are amazingly funny. I had to look you up cause I can't get enough of your humor. Thanks so much for sharing it!
Back in the day, when I collected "Miss America's," I had pics, autographs, & letters of every beauty queen, right down to Miss Watermelon Seed (not really). Anyway, the year after Maria Beale Fletcher of Asheville won Miss America, NC proudly sent one of the best-loved non-winners to Atlantic City - Jeanne Flynn Swanner, over 6' tall and played the ukelele. She didn't win the pageant, but she easily won 'Miss Congeniality!" Have loved her ever since!
You are great!! Life experiences make the best humor..You do an awesome job of telling a story, using clean language, and I can't stop laughing. Thank you for being you.
reminds me of my parents! We are from Arkansas, so I can relate to the food issue. My dad was a preacher too so we got a double dose. :) Love your material, when it reminds you of home, and it's funny, it's good!
I have watched this so many times and it never gets old. I just showed it to my 13 year old son who was squealing because he lives with the shorter, rounder versions of both.
Just discovered you via an email from a Ham friend in Montana, the Colorado Raft ride :-). Both my wife and I laughed our heads off. Put me in mind of Phyllis Diller.
I came searching for more of your vids. Great Stuff. Will sure try to get to see you if you do some kind of public performance over here.
Oh, I'm a right-brained, left-brain, if you get my drift.
I had the pleasure of hearing you tell us this and many other great stories about you and LB at The Southern Lady's Conference, where Paula Deen was another speaker, several years ago, and have laughed over these great stories may times. I appreciate your gift, and hope to see you in person again soon. :D
On a lighter note.................you southerners will get this. You northerners will not. I used to be a west (left) coast woman and then made the questionable decision to move to Kentucky. I didn't get it at first but I sure do get it now because it is ALL true! They don't do this kind of stuff in California. No one eats there. Just twigs and branches!
Absolutely loved it! I think 'left brain' and my 'pet orangatang' must have had the same father! Only difference being left brain cottoned on to what he had done wrong and brazened it out, my 'pet' wouldn't have worked it out! Although, to give him his due, he once went to the PO to post letters and got half way back when it dawned on him that post boxes aren't green! He went back to the PO to discover he'd put the letters in the rubbish bin! Have watched all the videos now, love them. Thank you
A friend told me you were here on YouTube. So glad I found you. I listen to XM radio with anticipation that you will be on during my drive. A huge smile comes across my face as soon as I hear your voice. I'm a southern girl, too, and can certainly relate. Thank you for sharing. Cheryl
Heard the bat story on XM on a drive back from Arkansas to Tennessee. We were on a two lane through an agricultural area (what part of Arkansas isn't?) and we laughed so hard we almost couldn't hear the sound of the bugs hitting the car. Your humor took my wife's mind off the "bug-hail" hitting her car. . . .dome were so big, sounded like we were hitting birds. Thanks for your clean, southern humor.
this is my favorite excerpt of all the jeanne robertson videos on youtube, it cracks me up from beginning to end - from the sad, head bow when you mention someone has passed to "is there an epidemic?"
Miz Jeanne, I do so enjoy your stories. My family is 'from this area' (GA, SC, NC) and I can hear them when you speak. Thanks for reminding us where we are from!☺
@reidwalley Thanks. And best of luck with your humorous speech. Use material from your life and tell it as though you would tell your friends. You'll do well. Keep 'em laughing! Jeanne
Hmmm...I'm a 59 year old man from the south (south Los Angeles, that is), and I laughed and laughed. Thank you so much. I have to figure out how to share with my 91 year old mother. Once I get back from the grocery store.
hahahahahaha I really needed a good laugh Jeanne but this really just sent me into hysterics im still almost legless.... thank you for such a funny story. Your so funny!
Oh my goodness! I have just discovered you and I think you are the funniest woman ever! My Mom sent me a link to "Don't go rafting without a Baptist in the boat". Thanks so much!
You make me laugh so hard when I watch this, and I've watched it many times. It reminds me of my late husband, who passed.. *bows head*.... But he did that same thing sometimes
XM Radio posts a few of her talks, and both my wife and I have to listen to her. I love how she sets up jokes with long stories and funny anecdotes in between. Her method reminds me a lot of Bill Cosby.
Thank you Jeanne! Please keep going - we hope to see you in person sometime.
Hilarious and SO TRUE! My friend from Kentucky sent me this link and I'm glad she did :) My husband is a retired professional baker and you can imagine why he is BANNED from grocery shopping; he's used to baking in bulk and there's just the two of us. When he gets a yen to make his famous tomato soup cake ... well, it just isn't pretty. Thanks, Jeanne!
Oh, my, I just discovered your humor - and being tall myself, AND from a southern family, I can relate to so much of what you share in your stories. I love the "southernisms". Certain terms and phrases just add to my enjoyment! I'm going to see if I can find one of your shows nearby...
About 8 years ago, I moved up to Buffalo from Fayetteville, and this is the first time since then that I've had the pleasure of hearing a "real Carolina accent." It takes me way back to my school days, when all of my teachers were Southern ladies.
Ms. Robertson, you are just so lovely and precious!
I dunno rather to laugh or cry........ this happends to me quiet often.......then again i have always been accusd of having a 1 track mind.....lol great humor mam.....
Hey, I'm from that area of the country too, and I've got a left-brain at home. Needless to say, we do the shopping together! Hilarious! Thanks, Jeanne.
Oh boy haven't laughed so much in ages..although I'm English I could appreciate Jeannes American sense of humour...Thanks for sharing...off now to find some more...Once again Thanks...As Jeanne would say I laughed so much I thought my waters broke.
@AmberAnn44 Thanks for posting. So glad to know you're laughing "over there" in England (one of my favorite places, btw.) Do tell all your "bestest" friends. I'm betting many of them have never heard English the way I say it. :) Keep laughing! Jeanne
Hi! My husband works at a grocery store and I showed him this right before work. Well, he is near impossible to make laugh but, boy did you do something right! LOL!!! We laughed untill we had tears in our eyes! My husband is also a VERY smart man however, he would do the SAME thing!!!!! LOLOLOLOL!!!!!
You are wonderful, we have enjoyed listening to you so much. I love good clean comedy. I have sent this to many of my friends and family. My husband is very very smart, has those "IMPORTANT DEGREE'S" too, but alas also the left brain!!! Thank you for the laughs.
@kygirl1100 Thanks . . . for watching my work, sending it to your freidns & family and for your nice comments. Left Brain is a great sports and, as we know, as terrific source for stories for me! Keep watching and laughing! Jeanne
There was no way I was going to pass up a video entitled, "Don't Send a Man ..." It did not disappoint!! I'm still laughing over Left Brain's hiccup - bless his heart! I've found, over the years, that it's best to use a dash or an asterisk rather than number on my grocery list for my own "Left Brain". I get what I need, and he gets out of the store via express lane!
Your comedy always makes me laugh... everything you say is comic genius. I listen to your material all the time and always look forward to hearing your material when I listen to the radio on airplanes.
Love this! That is exactly how my husband is, except he would have been texting or calling my cell about the time he got to number 3 asking if I really wanted that many eggs. Got to love those Left-Brain men!
Jeanne, I love you. I've been listening to you on Sirius Radio for quite a while. I'm pleased to find this on You-tube so I can show my friends.
You and Left-brain are my husband and me in 20 years. We laugh and shake our heads in complete recognition at this sketch and the "Fashion in New York City" one. This is exactly why I do not send Mudd to the grocery store. And the Hawaii one is why i don't let him pack when I have to got to a convention. (I'm a romance novelist)
@valarltd I'm confused whether I hit the right button or not. But I wrote to say that I appreciate your comments. Started laughing when I read "Mudd." Gotta be your husband. Keep laughing! Jeanne
I have listened to each of these pieces at least ten times each.....a total riot!! So good, I went and bought one of the cds from I tunes.....thanks so much for the humor!! You go, girl!!!!!
@staycejayne Oh, my. Thanks. I'm thrilled you enjoy my work. We'll be posting another youtube clip soon and I'm fast at work on material for the next tape. Do keep listing and laughing. And do tell your all of your "bestest" friends. :) Jeanne
@skitzostudios Thanks, I appreciate it. We have seven clips oup on youtube and hope to post another soon. Do tell all your "bestest" friends. Keep laughing! Jeanne
I had no idea who this woman was but I could tell just from looking at her that she was a Christian. I'm not a Christian so I was just waiting for her to start preaching, and I was surprised that she didn't get around to it during this clip.
Anyway. I enjoyed the clip. It was a funny story and she told it well.
First heard you on Sirius satellite radio. Got your CD for my mom for last xmas. Love every bit I've heard. You're right, enjoy life and see the humor in everything. For some reason, this bit came to mind and had told my girlfriend. Lo and behold, it was on YouTube and she loved it!! Thanks!!
oh my gosh... that was too funny! My grandbaby is sleeping right next door so I couldn't die laughing like I wanted to!!! I just read that via email somewhere to my hubsand not to long ago, but seeing & hearing it told... Oh my gosh.... that is going on FB page.... hysterical!!!!!!
Wonderful comedienne! (Do they still say "comedienne"?... Well, I'm much too old to change now!) Enjoyed this immensely, love the droll humor, and the observations of married life. For the record, I had trouble sending the URL as a link until I truncated the appended "65". I have no idea why, but that cured my problem.
Definitely I love this lady's humor. I have watched many of them. She's fabulous. :) Keep us laughing. Thanks for posting this and the others. "bam bam. bad potato."
That was so funny. It reminds me of when I sent my boyfriend to the grocery store. Thank goodness for cell phones or it would have ended the same way yours did.
Started listening to Jeanne on Blue Collar Comedy on XM radio, and I've fallen in love with her stand up! This might sound funny but I was shocked to finally see what she looked like after all the stand up referring to her height, I also wasn't expecting someone her age! Excellent performer! =)
I listen to Jeanne Robertson on Sirius Laugh USA and she is my favorite! My favorite story is about "Left Brain" and how he brought the luggage from the plane to the hotel on the bus..hahaha! I love Jeanne's lesson about always finding the humor :-)
Jeanne, this are wonderful! I laughed so hard I could barely breathe. Thanks for sharing! I'm passing this link along to my friends. Please upload more!
@amkebu Thanks. I appreciate you passing the clip along. I'll be uploading another soon. Meanwile, please enjoy "Rafting with Baptists" - latest clip added, and do tell your buddies. Thanks. *No Baptists were harmed in the making of this clip but a couple of Methodists (Left Brain and I) almost died. :) Jeanne
@gomeljohn9@gomeljohn9 Hey, gomeljohn9, Thanks for your nice comments. Yes, you're right. I have loads of material. My lastest DVD came out last year - 6th full-length DVD 11 years. Working on #7 now. And, we have 75 stories for download on itunes. But on youtube, I like to post one and see if we can get it to catch fire. Of the 7, some have, some haven't. /wen we post the next one, which one do you think it should be? Thanks. Keep 'em laughing! :) Jeanne
@JeanneRobertson Next? Your trip to Hawaii is one of my favorites. Sleeping int he tubes and seeing the blue water? Hilarious!! But of course, I'd like to see something that hasn't been as exposed, so I can hear some things I hadn't heard before. :-)
@gomeljohn9 Thanks. Considering both of those. Length of clip comes into play. Hope you've seen one we just posted. "Don't go rafting without a Baptist in the boat." Note :) No Baptists were harmed in the making of the clipo but a couple of Methodist (Left Brain and I) almost died. Keep laughing! Jeanne
You can see why many of us are so proud to be from GRAHAM, N.C. where this lovely lady is from. I was honored to play tennis with her late father fairly often many years ago. Bob James

Apparently, 6 pounds of ziti doesn't feed that many grieving NY Italians!!

My husband and I love this story! He heard it on his truck radio one day, then he had me laughing at the story. I can't wait to share this with my mom and sisters in law. I've never made a pound cake in my life, but I'm tempted to after hearing this! ha!

Thank you
