  • LOK!!!!! is this you????!!!

  • @truknayr23 Nope.

  • @truknayr23 Don't think so? :/

  • Guys, what is the the difference between a 50mm and a 100mm? how do these numbers affect max focus distance? I want to be able to shoot a wider macro shot, what numbers should I look for?? is that possible?

  • @thebroadcastviewer a 100mm will allow you to get the same shot as a 50mm only from a further distance which is handy if your shooting skittish subjects like insects for example. The one thing you want to look for is that the lens can do a 1:1 (life size) magnification which most of the newer lenses have anyways.

  • @fortesqueca thanks . . . do you know a specific lens model I could use? and how do I know is the lens is 1:1?

  • @thebroadcastviewer you can tell it has 1:1 magnification by looking at it somewhere on the focus distance of the lens barrel it should say when its a 1:1, 1:2, etc or you can just google the lens and it will tell you, but like I said most new macro lenses are 1:1. As for a specific model I use the 50mm ex sigma for product and flower shots and it has excellent sharpness and colour for around 400 bucks. I'm on the sony alpha system so I can't tell you more about the canon or nikon macro lenses.

  • @fortesqueca thanks again, I was an Alpha user too...Give Canon a shot next time, you'll love it =]

  • NERD VOICE! :D haha nice review BTW

  • @TheTeleLOL there is no button?

  • at the time 1:26 at the top right What does the button on the camera?

  • when shooting hands free? how do you shoot hands free?

  • @snowboarderrx a shutter release cable. or the timer maybe? my guess...

  • @snowboarderrx with the power of your mind duh

  • I bet the DigitalRev owner found this guy to be a fail in marketing so he hired Kai and Lok. Thank god!

  • the stereosound is friggin annoying man

  • Put a red elastic band on your kit lens if you must have the red ring and buy a raynox dcr 250.

Look this lens up if you want macro at reasonable cost.

    The image quality is superb.

  • mono voice commentary is really annoying with headphones

  • review it with picture pls

  • Pornmusic

  • Beaten by much cheaper Pentax DFA100/2.8 WR Macro in IQ..

  • @xmeda keep dreaming

  • L lens and they don't include a tripod mount ring which costs a rip off £109

  • like in Haw why.

  • @ whatisright try "pla stee kee" much better words, sounds warm.

  • @ whatisright try "pla stee kee" much better word, sounds warm.

  • I hate the word plasticky

  • aaahhhhhh where is kai?

  • I WANT KAI!

  • PLEASE get a better mic lol

  • @demonfrog1776

    AZN??

  • Why would angular movements be a problem when shooting hands-free? Shooting hands-free would mean that it's on a tripod or on the ground; so why would movements be a problem at all?

  • yah' better charge the battery.. :)

  • I normally like your reviews, this one however is quasi-useless, the whole review didn't a thing about photo quality.

  • @MrKnnknn

There is almost no such thing as a bad IQ macro lens.

You can go and blindly buy a Tamron or Sigma macro and get as good images.

It's USP is the anti shake, the weather sealing and the fact brand-fanboys wont look at 3rd party.

  • @gerSick

Not necessarily. From photozone.de (a very reputable review site, up there with DPReview): "The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM L IS macro is a very fine lens and a welcome new option in the market. The AF performance is vastly better than third party alternatives."

  • is this lens good for recording

  • @Stepanskiy23

    It works fine!

But youre getting a 160mm lens, not 100 on a crop camera!

    100mm*1,6 = 160mm (1,6 is the crop factor)

  • @rvenes thats right, but if your shooting with a full frame it wont matter right?

  • @RMO6701

    Correct.

  • @Stepanskiy23 Ofcourse you can use this lens on the 500D. A fullframe camera isn't a must. All lenses of Canon are compatible on APS-C camera's.

  • you should charge your camera

  • what is the name of the song at 1:06 ?

  • @masterfranco1991 hahahaha dude it comes on garage band for macs

  • I have a question regarding to the focus ring on this lens & IS on this lens. The IS cause so much noise sound during the recording video. Furthermore as I remember first the focus ring of the lens is not sticky and cause sand noise sand but now I just notice there are sand noise when I change the focus. Is it the false of this lens series or my lens has problem?

  • how much?

  • I bought this one together with my 550D, and i am not regretting it! To bad its winter now :/ no insects or such

  • @Blackxxxun snowflakes?:) that must be beautiful

  • glad they fired this host! he's awful! Even Lok C is a million times better

  • @unprofessionalvids did they fire kai? i actually liked him...

  • @Robdahelpa no they didn't they fired this loser and hired Lok C and Kai I think haha

  • @unprofessionalvids oh ok yeah this guy sucks xd

  • IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS WHISPERING INTO MY LEFT EAR. But besides that really nice video

  • i miss the old intro with this guitar riff ...

  • and yes, that means it's expensive~ LOLOLOL~ thumbs up for that phrase...

  • I love this lens, it's absolutely SUPERB, and nothing i've had before compares… even the previous 100m f/2.8 USM….. Go and mortgage the house… it's worth it.

  • hey man, charge that battery!!

  • what lens/s was this video shot with please ?

  • its just not the same without Kai

  • @SeenByMe

I agree, but Kai was not there at the time they did this review

  • @SeenByMe

    need Kai!!

  • @SeenByMe

    U nutthugger!

  • This is a bit of a waste of time. Superficial information that can be read anywhere is the main conveyance here. The body is made of aluminum and plastic, versus the typical L heavy metal. Cost cutting or weight-loss in mind? At 1:1 magnification only about 1 stop of IS is realized. This "review" is nothing but a light review of the design features. Call it a feature summary, 'cause it is not a traditional review of any sort.

  • How about a review like the Nikon 105mm and canon 70-200 mark II. (with results).

  • you might want take extra caution when useing this one in windy or dusty environment, it's weather seal isn't as good as Canon officially claimed, strong air movement, such as the blower, can actually push dust into the lens, especially the rare element. and you could be in huge trouble if a pollen got inside when shoting macro

  • 1:02 - "which is often a very problematic issue for shooting hands free"

    HOW HE DO DAT?

  • 3:00

Image stabilising allows you to shoot HANDS FREE.. Haha.

  • irritating muffukka thumbs up

  • good lense! I plan to buy one, does this lense come with the international warranty?

  • That is a nice review. Thanks.

  • I just gave my headphones a few wacks thinking the right channel had died!@#!#%$%

  • how is it in low lights ??

  • @daliaalameen well it's F2,8? so, pretty good

  • " L red ring means weather resistance" ??? I dont think my 70-200mm F4 is weather resistant

  • @ovaclock it is ;)

  • " L red ring means weather resistance" ??? I dont think my 70-200mm F4 is weather resistant

  • oh man i can't stand the left channel voice!!!

  • Sharpest lens I've ever used! Truly an amazing piece of glass... I'm a big fan

  • Kai should make a remake of all this boring reviews!!!!!! Such as this one!!!!!

Thumps up so they can see what we think!!

  • I'm a Nikon guy, but.... does want!

  • Comment removed

  • rain proofing only useful if you have a 1 series camera or rain jacket.

  • Great lens but Macrolite adaptor (ie for macro flashes) is a rip-off at £28 as is tripod mount D ring at £125 (or risk a Chinese copy at £10) !!!!

  • those gay hands again....

  • whats with the porn music between scenes?

  • this was before Kai got his British accent

  • porn music

  • This is what i hate about DSLR cameras is finding a good lens lol.

  • Comment removed

  • Great lens for macro and portraits!!

  • can it be used in a canon Xs??

  • @vladislaowilly any canon mount....

  • @vladislaowilly Yes :)

  • hands-free means no hands.

  • @krucialdreamer He doesn't need a button, he just wishes it so.

  • omfg the narrator is disturbing.. i can almost see a little chinese guy being a smartass :D

  • @nerxboy ur disturbing

  • @MerkabaPilot shut up merkaba

  • This lens has the best colour and contrast out of my pile of L lens and is now my top portrait lens. It is FANTASTIC

  • Thanks for the great video! Might want to look into getting a pop-filter though on your microphone. They are cheap and make the recording sound much, much better. :) Thank again.

  • Please, it's hand HELD, not hands FREE. Hands free would be on a tripod, right?

Enough of the specs and products shots. That's not a test. Where are the examples of what this new lens can produce?

  • @grnach Hear hear. "Hands on review" doesn't mean a recital of the manufacturer specs.

  • i prefer the non IS, is never worked for me... at least not for the 17-85 IS... i just stick with my non ia

  • I hate how when I try shooting handsfree all my shit keeps falling on the ground :(

  • I'm a noob starting out with SLR's and looking at L series lenses. Will this lens work well with the T2i Rebel?

  • @tubernery Think you should familiarize your self with the kit lens before purchasing another lens(ie. prime lenses)

  • I was trying to decide between this lens or the 135mm f/2 L for portraits. But I also want macro. I guess I could get the 135 and stick a 1.4x tele converter on it and get something close to macro. Or I could just buy the non-L version of this lens as well as the 135. Hmm too many options =\

  • I want this lens. Or rather it's predecessor as I don't have $1,000 for this baby haha.

  • Great lens, but it's near twice the cost of the old 100 macro, and there was nothing wrong with the old 100 macro.

  • nice lens ;D

  • representative price tag.........£779 UK, .$949 USA, so it should be £633 or £743 with VAT.

  • Hands free, how you shoot hands free with levitation, you probably mean hand held.

  • Portraits? It seems every wringle would come in clear.

  • Get more up front...then you can decide how much makes it to print, or web. Hey, look at any major movie...like the matrix...ultra sharp on faces....did you ever complain?

I have this lens...and a 17-35mm zeiss converted, and sharpness is gooood.

  • too expensive! price gouging at it's best

  • looks so sexy :D

  • Actually at under $1000 it's not a bad price for an L.

  • I think this is a most beautiful lens in the canon L lens series.

  • i have to agrre with you...

    a realy nice lens

canon should produce more lenses with such an is

  • @wanxg 85mm f1.2L!

  • Your poping your "P's". Try moving the microphone or buy a pop filter.

  • this lens are great !! i just got one last week and show amazing result

  • More lens review please!!

  • Wish we had a warts and all review, This simply seems like canon rep talk

  • Thanks for the Video ;-)

  • RED RING DOESNT MEAN WEATHER RESISTANT. 85 1.2 I an II DOES HAVE THE RED DING AND NO WEATHER RESISTANCE AT ALL.

  • The red ring is for the L "Luxury" series

  • @wickedshutter All "L - Series" are weather sealed, some just need a filter to complete the seal. (ie. 85mm f1.2L I & II)
