  • I kinda think this guy is a little clueless.. Saying "This is a glass of water" is an absolute statement, while stating a hypothesis and defining a boundary between what your proposing, and not, is not an absolute statement. Both statements are different and they are not saying the same thing. The information "this is a glass of water" is providing insight that would suggest the speaker considers his statement simple, while the other speaker allows for more definiton.

  • @shadywalker If I pound a nail with a hammer, and then use a nail gun.. I did the same thing. Well, following along with what this dude has to say.. that would be the case. I drove a nail.. that is it. The methods are not the same, and there will be subtle differences, along with extreme differences in the method and procedure.

  • Who cares what hes on. I still hve to listen to the message and determine what im going to do and how im going to act now that i have new perspectives on my/our habits of mind. I think... :p

  • Is this scene actually in the movie? I remember the "glass of water" analogy in the movie being given in front of a crowd, and omitting the Bohr anecdote completely.

Do I have a weird edit or something?

  • yeah, same here. must be an outtake.

  • that was one of the funniest comments ever. I have to use it.

  • And what are you offering in Zizek's place, if we should nevermind zizek, and pretend he isn't important, who should we listen to in his place? The 007 club? Fuck you.

  • I like the use of orwellian newspeak btw. but your argument is weak and elitist.

  • Just because Zizek doesn't fortify his arguments with obscurantism and self-distancing doesn't make him some kind of demagogue. Your comment reveals your high level of elitism as well as a generally careerist approach to philosophy.

  • Zizek expresses his admiration for their thought precisely in this way, which is through his radical (and thus estranged) orientation thereto.

  • slovaj zizek is the man of his ideas, and in his idology, which he has very deep thoughts of the term " ideology", should be read, watched and understanded. because noboby describes the philosophy better than him. that is because eventhough he raised up on freud, lacan and marxs his thoughts are no where near them.

  • Zizek is the radical man whose ideas we must look at closely
