Thanks for putting up one of the finest singer/songwriters in the business. He has written and had some of his songs fall into the "classics" catagory. Nice job Wayne, you are a great one.
Wayne Kemp wrote this song and it was a very big hit for Conway Twitty. Conway also recorded other Kemp songs including Next in Line. Wayne Kemp and the late Mack Vickery wrote SEVERAL HITS as team in the late 1960's thru 1970's including "The Fireman" by George Strait.
I love this song by Wayne Kemp AND by Conway Twitty; didn't Wayne Kemp WRITE this song (Image of Me). I saw Wayne Kemp sing at the J & J -- in Athens, GA (the good ole days); I think I saw him several times THERE! - about 30 yrs. ago.
@yoakamFan100 ... :) i saw Wayne last weekend. :) and ill see him again this weekend too. i cant thankyou guys enough for putting these songs up. even he and his wife dont have any copies of his older music. when i go see my grandfather on the weekends, i show him the new songs you guys put up. it makes my grandad and grandma very happy that you get enjoyment out of his music still.
@cloud2a7 Up until recently I thought I was familiar with all things classic country, then a facebook friend posted the video of Wayne from the Porter Wagoner show. My first reaction was, "Wow! This is great honky tonk music." My next thought was, "Why wasn't/isn't Wayne Kemp a bigger name in the business?" Please do me a favor and tell your grandpa that his music kicks some serious honky tonk ass!
@cloud2a7 Please--when you see Wayne again--give him a very sincere "thank-you" from me. Moments in my life that are pinpointed by the scenarios and sentiments in this song. Sometimes the truth hurts if you let it...and that's a good thing. It can wake you up. I'm now writing a lot and fronting a country band in Toronto of all places. This song is one of the reasons. Thank you, Wayne. Also, if Wayne plays the baritone guitar on "The Race Is On" you can tell him that his solo is my ringtone. :)
great talent thank's for posting
