its performances like these that make me wish i played multiple families of instruments and didn't unintentionally limit myself to doubles reeds, percussion/auxilary, and piano.
bravo! very nice. and entertaining to watch & the piano follows him perfectly :)
i personally dont think that he's moving too much. music isn't always about the visual and so if he's moving alot just close ur eyes and listen. trust me, u'll find that u listen much better. :-)
If you've watched any of his other videos, you would know he has performed professionally with an orchestra (The Theme and Variations by Rossini). He most likely exaggerated his movements in this piece for showmanship and because he was only playing with piano as the accompaniment.
It was interesting that I was thinking of Jean Francaix and picked something else to watch and listen. Then his music comes up in the related videos. I love that, dovetail jointing. Thank you, eghorst. I have forgotten how I liked Francaix's sounds. Interesting to try to play.
hey, nice work!! Im currently devouring this work and i really love the character you achieve in the cadenza & the sweeping lines of var. 2!
Just wondering if you get the 'slap tongure' in on the last page, and if so... could you pass on some hints to get 'slap tongue' happening on the Bb?? (bass is so much easier)
I dont think that ur mvt in too much, though I think it would be benifical to really think about when ur moving through habit, as opposed to a self-expression of the music.
Yes, to be honest I agree with the other people - I find the excessive amount of moving about distracting to watch, but I enjoyed your playing. I'm not a clarinettist, I'm just a pianist who likes Francaix's music. I think many pianists move too much as well!
Great playing - very convincing and controlled, but I agree with Gandalfgrayhame that you move around too much. It can be very distracting from the audience perspective. I particularly enjoyed your interpretation of the slow sections of the Francaix. I've never played this work myself but believe that it is very challenging, so congratulations on such a masterful performance, and from memory too!
love the sound, but If I had one criticism it is that you move to much, and after a while it not only becomes tasteless it can start to iritate your sound production. By all means move but try to controll the amount you do. I knw its realy hard to not do this i have the same problem lol, but try not to let your feelings get in the way of the actual music that Francais in this case wanted to put across. I hate to sound all snoby, but i think one day you could be a top clarinetist.
Outstanding performance! Your phrasing, dynamics, articulation are all superior. I have seen many performances on here and this is one of my favorites. Also, you are the first to perform this on here.
Congratulation! Very very nice interpretation. It's a really hard piece to play, I played it too.

If he wants to play professionally in an orchestra, he would have to learn to stay still or he would knock his colleagues off their chairs.
