  • Which silicon cloth are you using

  • My uncle told me how to clean a gun and me you and my uncle clean them the same way

  • Great job demonstrating how to clean. As a Marine I can just suggest one more thing. I would punch the bore with a bore brush that comes with your cleaning kit by letting it running all the way through and pulling it out the muzzle end and then doing the same with the rag. This will loosen carbon that is stuck to any part the the barrel and chamber.

  • Thanks dude this video helped me out a lot, it was very informative.

  • thanks man

  • @BASSSTALKER89 its not a jag its a slotted tip for your patches. a jag has the pointed tip with the ribs to hold the patch on when pulling it back through.

  • The patch holder thing at (3:15) is called a jag.

  • @sniper479 it is good to leave a light coating of oil to prevent rust especially when storing for long periods of time. But run a rag through it every now and then to make sure no large droplets form because when you fire your gun the projectile will superheat that oil and basically deform your barrel, I've seen it happen.

  • thanks i'm lol 32 never cleaned a gun before i looked this up and watched your video and it's all clean that's and shoot on

  • My dad taught me to clean my firearms with gasoline, said that's how they did it in the Cuban army. Works like a charm.

  • I noticed you didn't use a gun cleaner, all you did was oil it. After awhile the build up from not using a cleaning solution will make the oil sticky after being applied; as well as not protecting it the proper way from rust. Next how often do you shoot that gun? It looks like you just took it out the box.

  • very informative video. I learned a lot. thanks

  • 22 lr sucks at cleaning i like cleaning muzzle loaders and shotguns

  • thx for sharing.

  • whats the siliocon rag for?

  • @mcotinas I use it to wipe down not metalic surfaces such as stocks and scopes.

  • what is the silcon gun cloth for?

  • HEYS ITS JUSTIN BEIBER'S RETARDED BROTHER!

  • Thanks, I'm 63 and I just got my first 22 rifle, a CZ American. Your video was very imformative for me. So, you look like you're in high school, how old were you when you made the video? Who taught you about guns? Thanks again, I'm going to clean my CZ having watched your video!

  • best cleaning vid ever i love this vid

  • Hey Dude ! Nice video , I really like .22's . Very economical, great for training and highly under rated . Try some Ballistol on your next cleaning job, it is amazing . After trying it you will want to use the rem oil for door hinges and unimportant stuff. It's hard to find here in Missouri and about $10.00 for 6 ounces . Once you try it you won't use anything else ! Keep the videos coming and I'll keep watching ! Thanks !

  • man nice stock, nothings better than real wood on a rifle, or any gun I should say. now adays guns have plastic on them and look to modern.

  • hoppes 9 gun oil is the best ;D

  • @gunman5566 I like the smell of gun oil :D

  • rimfire is just a bullet without a primer rite?

  • good job. i run my first patch thru the barrel and remove it at the muzzle so not to drag any junk back into the breach. then i continue with new patches as you do. Great job and very informative clip. I look forward in seeing more keep up the good work.

  • what rifle is that is it a pellete rifle? it looks really nice

  • @soulonfire6666666666 This rifle is a Remington 511 Scoremaster and can shoot .22 short, long, and long rifle.

  • Hey dude, just got my first .22 rifle and was just wondering, should the inside of the barrel be kept oiled at all?

  • I keep a very light coat of oil in my bore. You don't want to much in there, just a little. What I do is after I run my last lightly oiled patch through the bore I run a dry patch through to remove any excess oil.

  • Thanks mate im buying my first rifle im 16 and i wanted to be prepared for when i start shooting and also so i know how to clean it.

  • Nice Video man, thanks! Hey I have just got a brand new savage .22 LR and on my first time using it I found that a few rounds from every 10 (mag) aren't feeding. Will this come right after it wears in and maybe after a good polish/clean?

    Thanks man.

  • I don't think its the gun. I have a savage .22 lr mark 2 and it works perfectly. Maby if you try a different type of ammo it will feed better. I know the bullet design can cause feeding problems in semi-autos but that could be what is happing to yours too.

  • Hello. I am trying to make a decision on what will be my first rifle purchase. I'd greatly appreciate your advice. I want a .22LR bolt action with a 10 round magazine that is easy to clean/maintain. What would your suggest? Yours looks like it would be just right if the mag is 10 rounds. Thank You. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • I would suggest getting a savage mark 2 bolt action .22 lr. I have one and it is very accurate. It is also easy to clean and doesn't cost a fortune. Mine has a 10 round mag but I can also use the 5 round mag from my .17 hm2 Savage mark 2 in it because the cartridges are similar in size.

  • IF you can find one, the brother to this rifle is a springrod fed, bolt action, 15 shot,

.22 called the Remington model 512 sportmaster. Not only is this model easier to load it is also more reliable and easier to clean by far. You shouldnt pay more than 100 bucks for one. Mine was my grandads from the late 40's and he shot, my dad shot it, and i have shot it almost every weekend since then. Never a failure. Be SAFE, have fun.

  • nice 1

  • is that airgun???sorry im new to this stuff i was wandering if you could teach me some things.

  • Just watch some of my videos and I'm sure you can learn something.

  • thanks i subed really, good videos

  • where the hell do you get the rem oil? i cant find it anywhere :S

  • walmart sporting goods

  • good video this really helped me thanks for posting

  • if you use your .22 alot you should pull apart the bolt and clean the firing pin and spring, intead of using a 'cuetip' (i have another name for them but thats probably coz im Australian)

  • what is it ''penis''

  • 'earbud' dipshit

  • can u repeat that i fell asleep

  • muy bueno el video gracias

  • your dads a thief! hahah stealing rags that have shank holes, or bullet holes in it. =D

  • lol

  • how often do you usually clean a rifle?

  • I clean every time after I shoot it.

  • hey can you show me how to clean my 12 gauge pump

  • Sure, one of these days I'll make a vid on cleaning my remington 870 12 gauge.

  • why is it bad to over oil the gun

  • It's bad because the oil can seep into the stock and if its a wood stock it will get damaged over time. Also the excess oil can keep the the mechanisms such as the trigger and bolt assembly from functioning properly.

  • should have went to k-mart LOL they had some patches in their kit.

  • dude put ur dads rifle back where u got it

  • man you love your rem oil

  • i was hunting four days ago and i shot this big ass nule deer and i was so stupid the 30 30 i was using went right through the heat but it took three hours of chasing the deer with the truck it keept running but i took another shot and got got it in the lung but it kept running with the bulit in the heart so that thing was strong oh did i say it was a beautiful 19 pointer it was an awsome hunt

  • Hi - don't you use Hoppe's #9 which is a strong bore solvent. It's necessary to remove all the caked on powder fouling and then use a brass bristle brush to clean the bore. Oil is used ONLY AFTER the gun has been cleaned completely and is totally free of powder fouling, dirt, burnt oil, metal shavings etc. That's how I was raised. So, is this video only an lubrication application video? Thank You. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • I find it to be a waste of time to use bore solvent every time I clean my guns. Most of the time I just use oil because that seems to get the majority of the fouling out. After about every brick of ammo I shoot out of my .22 LR's I do use bore solvent and I make sure I get every bit if fouling out. There is realy no need to use solvent all the time because with todays clean burning powders, it take years and years off leaving burnt powder in the bore for them to start pitting.

  • Change the title, some dumbass is going to see this and try to take the hoppes .22 and up rifle and shotgun cleaning kit up his new savage .17hmr LOL. seriously...there are people that stupid

  • Is that an old Steven's .22?

  • It's a Remington 511 scoremaster that I bought off my pap for $50.

  • I wish Remington had not abnadoned the bolt-action .22 like they did. The last ones that were affordable were the 541T and the 581S. Supposedly they did not want to compete with Marlin and Savage anymore at making affordable .22 bolt guns.

  • My father has one of those and we shoot it frequently, very accurate the only problem is we cannot find a clip for it.

  • Triple-K sells reproduction Remington 511 magazines.

  • that reminds me of my .50 daisy red ryder shoots 2000fps

  • ??????? (wtf)

  • I think you meant to reply to FartingMaster19s post.

  • No It was directed at you and was an obvious joke....haha

  • @TheNecrophagistGuy a .22 long rifle doesnt even shoot 2000fps...mabey 200fps if thats what you meant

  • @radopeon Maybe your Airsoft shoots 200fps, standard Federal Bulk Pack ammunition shoots about 1000fps.

  • Nice video, I just got the savage mark 2. I was looking for a simple to the point video on how to clean a bolt action rifle. Thanks. A lot of haters on your board haha.

  • Get yourself some .22 caliber gun cleaning patches made out of 100% cotton. They are durable and not all fuzzy.

I bought that .17/.22 rimfire rod from Walmart too but I hate the fact that the .22 adaptor is knurled! it should be smooth. I like Kleanbore coated rods the best. Try Shooters Choice MC-7 or Shooter's Choice Lead solvent sometime. They are both betetr than Hoppe's No. 9.

  • they let you have guns in the trailer park ?

  • Hahahaha, very funny asshole.

  • Take a trip to Wolf Creek

  • everyone loves a wallmart ;D

  • what the hell did he mumble at 4:49

  • I said I got it all.

  • rem oil should be used mostly to prevent rust it is not the best bore cleaning solvent. and the jag you are using is ok but a strait one that holds the patch all around the outside of it is more effective. good video though you do better than most people if they even clena there rifles at all

  • I remoil off fouling and use it as a outside the barrel lead remover. It is very safe to on non-stainless/non-hardchrome guns.

  • wut kinda camera do use?

  • I use a cannon powershot A560.

  • there are better cleaning rodes than what you used the better ones the handle stays still but the rod twists with the barrel rifling

  • Thats the way this one is.

  • i got some rem oil the other week and wiped my guns down with it and it works good, but is it ok for the barrel? i saw u put some in yours but i always used bore cleaner. if u can let me know that would be great.

  • It works fine for cleaning bores, it gets most if not all the gunk out. Every couple hundred rounds I would use some bore solvent too though.

  • thanks for that vid now i can do this to my 22

  • Its good that you clean them everytime you shoot. I use Rem oil too and I use the silicone cloth as a field rag to whipe all the metal surfaces down. 5*

  • thanks dude lol i always wondered how it was done,

  • good work

  • i have not cleaned my rifles and pistols for a few years now, and i havnt fiered them ethear do you think there all fucked up by now or is it still posable to clean it because im going shooting next week and i dont want to blow my face of

  • They should be fine. The only problem I can see with them is they might have a little bit of rust on them. If I was you I would run an oiled patch through the bore and put a light coat of oil on the guns before you shoot them.

  • You should use a single piece brass cleaning rod if you use a multi piece rod it can brake off in the barrel and scratch your rifling and that will affect you accuracy. I know what I'm taking about I am a competition shooter and I clean my rifle after every time I use it and you should thow away that Rem oil and get some hoppes and some lead and copper solvent.

  • i use hoppes 9 too. did u ever use WD-40?? some guy told my dad that hoppes has a smell that deer dont like but WD-40 doesent, and u can spray it all over your gun then wipe it with a rag.

  • I never used WD-40 on my guns. I heard from somewhere that its not all that good for the firearm.

  • if the barrel is like really rusted, then maybe u can use it only on the barrel to get the rust off.

  • You should show us all of your firearms. Or rifles whatever you want to call them. I don't think we've seen any of your savage rifles.

  • I will make a video pretty soon that has all of my guns in it.

  • Yeah I clean my guns differently. I usually start by getting the cleaning rod fitted with a wire brush ending and scratch all the lead and residue in the barrel oh yeah and i dip the brush in some gun oil so it loosens all the gunk up. Then after i ran the brush through the barrel a couple of times i fit the cleaning rod with the cleaning cloths and run them through the barrel. When the cloth reaches the end of the barrel i take out the cloth with the rod still in the barrel.

  • Then i pull the rod out of the barrel. then i put another cloth and run it throught the barrel untill the cloth comes out clean.

  • Yer i do it the same as cooldud11122, better way i think.
