Why would you have a movieclip like that, you can just check if the y coordinate is greater than some amount. Also typing your code on movieclip is generally seen as a bad practice and will end up making you really confused on larger projects

I came up with a version of this script that can save time in the long run, you would only have to change the instance name of the restart box instead of putting the code on each one. This version of the script you put on the character.

I love the way you did this, but i have one question... i noticed it does it on yours too. every once in a while when you jump, the character will land back on the ground and start shaking very lightly. it's not a HUGE problem, but it is getting very annoying. thank you.

Example: It's starts like this: onClipEvent (enterFrame) { if (_root.char.hitTest(this)) { _root.char._x = charX _root.char._y = charY } } Since my instance name is Player I change "char" to "player" like this: onClipEvent (enterFrame) { if (_root.player.hitTest(this)) { _root.player._x = charX _root.player._y = charY } } Hope that helped!

i was just wondering if its possible for the back ground to move as the character moves and if you can make obstacles or ground. besides the platforms. Also can the character have moving parts and controls rather than just jumping and walking. If you could let me know that would be great.

@Jdawggameslayer It entirely possible just you will need a lot more code, and the background that is in the VCam will have to be its own movieclip, and do different hittests and if statements to get the result you want. I know that probably didn't help at all, but i wanted to let you know it is possible.

some of you might also have the wrong number for one of your hitTests.... make sure your thrid one(if you didnt change from the code given at the beggining) has grav = 0....

me and a friend of mine both had that same problem. wat i did was made the platform thicker (to do that without having to re-apply the ActionScript is simply right click>edit) and it works fine now. but im not comletely sure if that'll work, but it did for me. so try that.
