I love Stephen Foster--our country's first self-employed composer and lyricist--and combined with these musicians this piece is truly a gem. Hope my neighbors don't get tired of hearing it and hearing me singing along.
I just found out about Stephen Foster in my Music Appreciation course and I am so glad I did. This is the prettiest music I've heard in a while. I wish more young ppl would learn to appreciate finer music then the stuff played today.

OMG...this song just rips my heart out....my mom is very ill and when I heard it the first time I sat in the hospital parking lot and wept...Krauss's voice is truely amazing...the line "pray the the angels will shield thee from harm" moves me completely. It works from the child to the mother as well.
It brings much comfort to me today.
