Sometimes I wish it was the late 90s again. I wish I was 5 years old again because I miss the music, the clothes and all the cool stuff from that time. I'm nearly 18 now and all the hot music I hear is awful. I'm now turning to music like this so I can find something that makes me feel good. Most of it happens to come from around the junction between 20th and 21st century, and when I look back on it, I wonder why I never felt it as much as I do now
God I REALLY miss nu metal... hell, I really music good music that was coming out in the late 90's, early 2000's. This whole album is so completely amazing.
Taproot is superior to most bands these because of the simple fact that they haven't compromised their style or sound to fit the mainstream to sell more records. Their sound has been consistent since the late ninties and continues to bring happiness to my ears.
I started out liking this band after seeing them live. They had a lot of energy and the got a decent pit. Their vocalist got off stage to help get the pit started which was neat. However the more metal I listen to and the more I listen to these guys, the more they sounds like a bunch of whining high school boys. HAIL TRUE METAL!
These guys are play in chicago, illinois at bobby mcgees on november 20th! My band, Tomorrow Has Arrived, will be playing right before them.. Good times!
God metal is so gay nowadays. THIS SHIT WAS AWESOME, never let me down. It was just like an OCEAN OF FUCKING ENERGY, now metal is just fucking irritating. BRING BACK NU METAL
@Idkfawin32 you're just listening to the wrong stuff, which is surprising because I figure someone who's been listening to metal this long would know what the good stuff is, then again you like nu metal, so maybe that's the problem.
its almost 10 years without numetal pfff actually its 8..but you can see some shaddy guys wearing dvs with their hoods on , their beard dyed yellow , their DCSHOES and their carhartt jeans carrying their mp3 player with numetal playing without anyone knowing from which planet they are :D i'm proud of being one of them
This song does someting special to me!! I love this song!! Glad I've downloaded the album couple of days ago(Y) Better late than never right?? Taproot, one o' my favourites!!
@EduardvanBeinum It's funny how nowadays bands are labelled with the term "Screamo" like Escape the Fate when bands like Taproot, Deftones were one of the first to alternate the singing and screaming but it wasn't called screamo in 2000. This more like alternative metal with hints of emocore. Modern metalcore is metallic hardcore with melodic riffs.
@tjfats2 yes they are taproot raps too and has beats listen to their music more not all nu-metal bands rap and has beats just look at old school staind and korn.
yeah old bands like papa roach, limp bizkit, lp, the offspring and lot more are fucked right now with music. They lost the essence of what they began with and used to be good music.
@CaptainDirtFace Hey boss, not to start a war, but I need to correct you. Gift was not their first album. Gift was their first independent release. Their EP was called Something More Than Nothing and it was produced by Fred Durst. The band didn't like that Durst gave them no creative freedom so they split and recorded Gift. Something More Than Nothing was really raw and not as refined as Gift, but it was awesome. BTW, Fred Durst is a whiny piece of shit. Wes was Bizkit's only real talent.
@eMILBULLsPL The real travesty is that Limp Bizkit is the only one that still sounds the same. At least Staind went back to their roots again, Linkin Park is saying that their doing the same also :] and atleast KoRn's dubstep album wasn't 100 percent terrible, could have went with a worse genre than that, like bubble gum pop Japan crap
i grad a couple years b4 but i agree it was an awesome time for music, i loved discovering new bands like taproot. 90% of metal today sounds excatly the same, bands back then had alot of originality

every Taproot album has been good, its just that some of you cant understand evolution when you hear it. oh god forbid a band tones down its sound a bit, who cares? the overall message is what matters. you fairweather fans mean nothing, long live Taproot.
right on, i appreciate every thing they've done, they are certainly one of my favorite bands of all time. Of course the vocals stand out, but the band as a whole is great, it's too bad the media machine has agenda's that don't include real talent anymore...seriously, rap is popular, rap is right up there with shit country...
I really could not wonder why this band went through so much musical directions. They went and made two good albums then changed to something completely different that is opposite this song. They did the same thing like LP but failed. They then went and made some album that was soft but tried to put some hard riffs in it but again failed. And now they came out with another album that is WAY better then Blue Sky Research and OLRH. I prefer Plead The Fifth more than those two. I actually like it.

thanx for adding this video bro was lookin all over for it brings back crazy memories before all my boys turned into materialistic faggots and stuck there noses up every pussy that gave em a look when everything was fuckin great
dude im 16 years old and i really wonder why this stuff doesnt exist in modern bands . . . i mean this is awesome . . .i love all taproot . . .theres not one song by them i dont like :)
dam is it really ten years old now... i can remember seeing these guys at ozzfest. i had just graduated, it was 2001. i was reading the roster, and i was like hell yea i get to see pantera, static x, and who the fuck is this taproot? i bet they suck.... hahahah but man when they came on stage i was like WHAT THE FUCK... they were badass.. but their musical direction has changed so much that i dont listen anymore. but DAMN that first album gift was awesome. back in 2001, before metal died..
@CaptainDirtFace Woah woah woah. Back the fuck up. BEFORE METAL DIED?! Metal is still an ever thriving genre bud. It's just gotten heavier, the way it should be.
@CaptainDirtFace When did metal die? Last time I checked Lamb of God is still releasing albums, Chimaira's new album drops real soon. Ten years before 2001 and now ten years later in 2011 heavy metal has never been close to anywhere near dead.
@CaptainDirtFace Yeah, all this bands were awesome in their own right. Like kORN, Papa Roach, System of a down, Dope, Powerman 5000, Ill niño, Static X and many many other. But yeah aroudn 2004 or 2005 New Metal began to decay and then came the hardcore scene, which is good too, but not from my teenage years. I remember watching this when i was in highschool or so. I say it again, pretty cool times.
@CaptainDirtFace Enjoy your life of being trapped in the music of your teens. The rest of us will be enjoying new Taproot and other awesome new music =)
@TheWarcalf this is the GOOD stuff dude....remember that. Taproot hail back from an era full of good bands such as Deftones, Korn, Incubus, Snot and (HED) Pe just to name a few..
Is it wrong that whenever I hear this song end the first thing I think of is "Life sucks sometimes..." (Real fans will get it. :D )

dam is it really ten years old now... i can remember seeing these guys at ozzfest. i had just graduated, it was 2001. i was reading the roster, and i was like hell yea i get to see pantera, static x, and who the fuck is this taproot? i bet they suck.... hahahah but man when they came on stage i was like WHAT THE FUCK... they were badass.. but their musical direction has changed so much that i dont listen anymore. but DAMN that first album gift was awesome. back in 2001, before metal died..
