  • I love that picture at 1:10! Do you still have it or the link for it?

  • @LEGnewTube.... Key words...."Ephesians armor of God" Yes it is a very nice visual aid.

  • I like how there's all men singing this!

  • I love it this way! Kind of lightens it up a bit!

  • Such a good song. I'm 17 but I haven't heard a single pop OR contemporary "Christian" song that has quite the impact on my soul. Oh! And catholics and Protestants need to quit fighting. We need to unite.

  • Honor on her because he followed the ten commandments more perfectly than any man ever has. "I did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill it." "Heaven and Earth shall pass away before one iota of the law is blotted out." So Catholics honoring Mary is very scripturally sound and based on both Scripture and History. Have there been abuses within the Church of course it's an infallible institution made up of fallible individuals. But Doctrine is grounded on scripture. The Word of God

  • Through the woman. Christ first miracle is performed because of Mary's insistance to do whatever He tells you. He said it wasn't his time but at the intercession of His Mother He began his public ministry. That's the Mediatrix she intercedes for us to her son just as she did on earth. Co-Redemptrix means with not equal. She shares in his redeeming work by virtue of her Divine Motherhood and by virtue that Christ came through her. She is a creature NOT GOD! But Christ bestows Glory and

  • The Bible does not support the Bible alone Paul speaks of clinging to the traditions either in the written word or what had been handed on through word of mouth. Mediatrix means just as Christ came to us through Mary she guides us to him. Yes you can go directly to Christ of course but Mary is there to fight with her son. Genesis 3:15 I will put emnity between you and the woman and between your offspring and hers. The woman is of great value Christ is the

Saviour but he chose to come

  • Luther himself in a 1522 sermon proclaimed that Mary was in heaven but refused to discuss the matter further because there was no biblical proof. The title Queen of Heaven in Jeremiah refers to Asherah a pagan goddess that the unfaithful Jews of the time were worshiping it had nothing to do with the Mother of Christ. Mary is Queen because Christ is King. As far as Mediatrix of all graces and co-redemptrix refers to her unique role in salvation history. You may preach the Bible alone but

  • Luther himself believed in the Immaculate Conception of Mary. He prayed his rosary till his dying day. His problem was with the sale of indulgences by certain priests and Bishops which Catholics believe is heresy. Mary is Queen of "Heaven because she is the Queen Mother of Christ the King like Bathsheeba was Queen Mother over Solomon's court she has no honor or Glory apart from Christ. Christ bestows his honor and Glory upon her as is mandated by the ten commamdments which he followedexactly

  • Why use this song to wage war between Catholics and Protestants? I'm sure that was not Luther's intention.

  • Great song.

  • from what period is this?:) like the real song

  • @edwinreb3l

It was written in 1529 by the reformer Martin Luther. :)

  • I am singing this with my choir sunday, i love this song so much!!!and my dad (who is 52 btw) is doing the end part at 4:53

  • @hailzconnect227So, don't you just love blessings, "YES" .....That's awesome, in fact My daughter and I do the same. I'm 53. Our church is small, But we love it.

    God bless you both.

  • btw, if you read Jeremiah 44:15-30 you can also tell that, like in ch. 7, the LORD is not pleased with the praise being given to the Queen of Heaven, that to these people she is a pagan goddess.

  • @tigerlillium Amen, history repeats itself. but those today hold and call Mary as the queen of heaven.

I agree Mary is called blessed, but so was Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. All were 100% human flesh and bone.

I don't pray to any other than God the Father, thought the holy spirit, sent by Jesus Christ, in Jesus' name. Thank you for your comment and God bless you!

  • PART3 to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices, 24but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you. 24But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.

  • PART2 Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame? 20“‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: My anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place—on man and beast, on the trees of the field and on the crops of your land—and it will burn and not be quenched. 21“‘This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go ahead, add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices and eat the meat yourselves! 22For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt and spoke

  • Jeremiah 7-16 “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you. 17 Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven. They pour out drink offerings to other gods to arouse my anger. 19 But am I the one they are provoking? declares the LORD.

  • O worship the one and mighty God! Lovingly, He has sent His son Jesus Christ down unto earth to shed our sins away! Let us worship Him all eternity with faith and truth!

  • Why the picture in 4.41 - it appears strangely mormon-like? I'm OK with pictures of Jesus that teach the truth but portraits become objects of veneration and adoration. God the Father was never incarnate. On a positivge note- great triumphant modern version with good singing and arrangement. Thanks.

  • @psalmblues agree!

  • @psalmblues Good Lord, I don't want that....Matthew 3:16

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.

Dove as Holy spirit, Gifts given by the Holy Spirit.

  • As epic a version as I can remember

  • I used to think the crazy tenor in this song was sweet, but now I'm not so sure.

  • Luther is one of my heroes for his strong commitment to the Word....except seeing his anti-Semitic remarks makes me think of him as a clanging cymbal.

  • Luther was a great man as he fought and won a reformation against the evils of the Pope and the many Wrongs the Catholic church done to its people...40 plus million were murdered over many years....this was long over due and we now have another problem--Obama!

  • @Marksnotebook Very true.

  • @Marksnotebook Why is Obama a problem?

  • In response to the description below this song which states the following:

    1) Mary’s current title is “Queen of Heaven” as bestowed on her by the Catholic Church.

    2) “There is growing support within the Catholic Church now . . . to proclaim that Mary is: a. Co-Redemptrix; b. Mediatrix of All Graces; c. Advocate.

    3) “Was Martin Luther really 100% wrong? Or is History repeating itself . . . just like in Jeremiah 7:18 and 44:25?”

  • Discern God’s truth from man’s interpretations. Rely on God’s Wisdom as revealed in the bible rather than the works of man which could be fruits of the works of Satan.

Know that Lucifer - the most beautiful angel created is an Angel of Light, majestic in glory and wisdom above all created angelic hosts - slyly uses his power to lead astray those who are righteous in God.

The bible says Lucifer has great power over men and can even perform miracles before men.

  • At the time of Jeremiah, God’s people in the old scriptures were influenced by the pagan worship of the goddess Ishtar, who is also known as Queen of Heaven, among her other names.

Worship of false gods/goddesses is grave idolatry to the true God of the Bible.

As a nature of the true God, He always warns His people before His righteous punishments befall them. God sent forth Jeremiah to tell them of coming punishments for their worship of a false god called “Queen of Heaven”.

  • The Queen of Heaven title still survives today in the Roman Catholic Church who calls Mary as the Queen of Heaven and referenced by the encyclopedic descriptions of the various names of Ishtar by different civilizations throughout historical times (see: Encyclopedia Britannica, Dictionary of Phrase and Fable, 1894 and Temple of the Temptress)

  • The Encyclopedia Britannica traces the “Queen of Heaven” goddess title thru history: "Through her identification with the Greek Aphrodite and the Roman Venus, Inanna-Ishtar, the Queen of Heaven, still survives in Roman Catholic iconography - e.g., as the Virgin Mary standing on the moon."

  • The Dictionary of Phrase and Fable of 1894 traces the “Queen of Heaven” goddess title thru history: "Queen of Heaven with the ancient Phoenicians, was Astarte; Greeks, Hera; Romans, Juno; Trivia, Hecate, Diana, the Egyptian Isis, etc., were all so called; but with the Roman Catholics it is the Virgin Mary."

  • The Temple of the Temptress traces the “Queen of Heaven” goddess title thru history:: "Diana was called the Mother goddess and Queen of heaven, just as Mary is called Mother of God and Queen of Heaven."

  • As Ishtar’s goddess title of “Queen of Heaven” lives on in the Catholic Church, with growing support to further make her as co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix of All Graces and Advocate, Martin Luther, if he is alive today, will still stand up against these attribute titles of Mary as contrary to bible truths (blasphemy against the teachings of God).

  • The bible teaches Jesus is the sole Redeemer being the worthy Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Jesus is the sole Advocate before God of every living faithful against Satan’s constant accusations before God’ Throne against any faithful’s each time they fall to sin.

  • God has no need for a Mediatrix for any graces. Anyone can call out to God the Father, the Son or the Holy Spirit. Jesus says:Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened. Ask and you shall receive. You receive not because you ask not. All these because:God is no respecter of persons. Even whilst we are dead in sin, God sees us as jewels worthy to give up His only Son to death on the cross to pay the penalties of sin as God desires all to be with Him. Seek God and you will find Him.

  • God had timely and commensurately rewarded Mary for her role (being the chosen vessel for Jesus to enter the world as both man and God at the same time) by calling her blessed plus be known as such for all generations to come. I am sure Mary is very content with the glory God awarded her. She is definitely not happy in heaven being glorified by men as the “Queen of Heaven” more so to bestow upon her additional titles for more false roles; all slyly contradicting God’s very nature and ways.

  • Makes me proud to be Lutheran.

  • Mama Mary cannot be co-redeemer. Jesus would be lying for He said "I am the Way to the Father and no man comes to the Father except thru Me". Mary was God's way for Jesus to come into the world and manifest Himself as God in the flesh. Jesus is God's way for us to get back to God.

If Mary is co-redeemer coming all the way from Abraham, then all of them from Abraham to Mary are co-redeemers. What keeps us from extending that all the way back to Adam for they all came from Adam’s seed.

  • Only Jesus is the sole redeemer. In Revelation, Jesus was the only one worthy to take the scroll to the Title Deed of the Earth-symbolizing the redemption of man from the control of Satan. God says in Revelation that Jesus is the sole redeemer. Otherwise God is lying because then both Mary & Jesus should be worthy to have taken up that scroll.

  • Let us not fall to this great sly that is in motion by men to declare Mary as co-redeemer of Jesus. The bible warns about being misled by false teachings. Know and understand with Godly wisdom the role of Mary and the role of Jesus so as not to be led astray by wisdom coming from men.

Let us pray for wisdom and truth for those pursuing these matters and for us the faithful to discern and correctly follow God’s Words and not be led astray by man’s foolish wisdom.

  • Dear Jesus, our redeemer, forgive and redeem us from all our sins. We put you first and above anything else that is in our minds now. Fill us with the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom to discern the truth about your redeeming role and about Mary's proper role in God’s redemption plan. All these, we pray to you Father God, for your glory and in Jesus name, amen.

  • its so amazing to me that such music can last centuries and be loved today, the music often written today can barely stay popular a year much less the centuries this beautiful hymn has endured. it blows my mind

  • What is the one little word that will fail Satan?

  • @capgurken,

It's "One little word can fell him;" go here...

grace downtown dot org forward - slash sermons forward - slash one dash little dash word dash can dash fell dash him

  • I'm loving this ... totally loving this. I would to hear an African-American choir take this on ... with some wicked sopranos... a bit of a twist, but would be an awesome one!

  • A mighty fortress GOD indeed is...........JESUS our Lord

  • I love, love, loe this song. I love the bridge that repeats, "A mighty fortress, a mighty fortress, is our God." Great enhancement!

  • This message has been a great help in times of trouble. If anyone's wandering what "Lord Sabaoth" means, it's Lord of hosts, or Commander of armies.

  • Oh, "the church he opposed" now sings this proudly? Wow. The whole point is that this is "One bread One body." It is the same gospel that Jesus established at the beginning....but please it is about Jesus, not praying to Mary for any type of intercession. Tha't's the whole breaking point for me.

  • Don't know how the last image would be considered "occult imagery." Father, Son, Holy Spirit represented and angels below? That doesn't seem occult to me.

  • I am an Irish Roman Catholic but I have loved this great hymn for many year. As Thoma a Kempis so wisely said "Consider not the speaker but attend to what is said"

    These are great words indeed

  • Well, the organ would seem to be ushering in something portentious, but then enter the choir - A midey fortress is our Gawd - and it all seems to go a bit pearshaped. 'Twould be better if King's College did it, but I don't know that they have. The tenets of the hymn are pretty well compatible with Anglican beliefs, and it is sung here to a slightly different English rendition. .

  • @kapariz44 - I love the way you write, I was thinking much the same thing, although the word "pearshaped" didn't enter my mind because I have no idea what it means, other than maybe "askew?" The thing that bothers me the most about this presentation is the last image - it is CHOCK FULL of occult imagery - uggh!

I LOVE THE SONG. I appreciate the point deesrickchevrolet makes about the history - and the way the lyrics are shown - they're the most awesome part - --so simple SO TRUE!

  • Well, the organ would seem be about to usher in something portentious, but then enter the choir - A midey fortress is our Gawd, and it all goes pearshaped. 'Twould be better if King's College did it, but I don't know that they have. The tenets of the hymn are completely compatible with Anglican beliefs.

  • Ninja~ You would do well to watch the academy award-winning movie about St. Thomas More, "A Man For All Seasons." If you have already, then watch it again without preconceived notions of the correctness of Henry's position. Finally, he just wanted to get laid by someone other than his wife and have the Church give its okey-dokey.

  • Delightful!

HE sure is great mighty fortress.

  • What's the problem with the picture at 3:00? lol.

Is it because there is a butt? I thought we all had one of those.

  • Maranantha Promise Band....from Promise Keepers Conferences

  • I say this without any humor, but the instrumental version of this hymn from the old "Davey and Goliath" kids cartoon, was a very good and inspirational version that I love. Glory to God!

  • As for the image of Christ - He was a human being that lived and walked among us physically - So I have no problem with the image at all - but I do not think he looked like that picture - he was probably dark, hair and complexion because he was Semitic. I don't think that our Lord worries about pictures of himself - he wants our obedience and our love. In the bible it says we shall see him as he really is. That is anyones guess!

  • love this version...not sure bout your image at 3:00

  • @motykdot

Could you tell me why you are concerned with that image? That is the only one I don't understand. I love this song also.

  • @ACoolDudeProduction Bcos the Bible commands us not to make an image of God or liken his person to anything. The Lord is beyond all that we can imagine

  • @motykdot That is a painting of Michelangelo, the dude was blessed .... Do we stand in front or behind God

A Mighty Fortres is our God, A fortress we stand behind, out of his way.

    God bless you!

  • @Deesrickchevrolet Michelangelo was indeed blessed. He was also a Catholic supported by the Pope.

  • @verticalmatt Read "Michelangelo And The Pope's Ceiling," he was gay and an atheist. You had to be "Catholic" at the time no matter what or face the wrath of the Inquisition and other repressive measures.

  • @AndrewMann552 Thanks, I will. By the way I was just playing on the fact that many people who use this hymn are very anti Catholic and that the practices that Martin Luther was so much against were the same that enabled the Pope to support geniuses and pay for genial monuments. But let's leave that behind, we're all Christians culturally, whether we are Atheist or the most pious is something private, between the individual soul (or mind) and that which some call G'd.

  • @motykdot I think that Christ proteccts us /forgives us from sin that we cannot help but commit in our imperfection. We WILL sin and he will COVER.

  • Comment removed

  • Anyone know the artist, by the way?

  • @altair2012 I beleive it is the Maranatha singers

  • @Deesrickchevrolet Alright, thank you.

  • @Deesrickchevrolet It's Promise Keepers.

  • @Deesrickchevrolet As in the Indian State?

  • Maranantha Promise Band...from Promise Keepers Conferences

  • @altair2012 It is the PROMISE KEEPERS. The song is available on iTunes. :-)

  • @altair2012 The Four Tops

  • @altair2012 Prince. Well, i don't actually KNOW him, but i've heard him.

  • @skasha99,, Martin Luther would not be for abortion!! if you read any of his stuff he was a little bull headed ( the nice way to put it hahaha),,

also brave muslim soldier,, as always you attack in the shadows,, no one cares if you believe in the Nicene Creed,,, so Join the LCMS or go to your just rewards,,, you know where I am talking about,,, if you don't ,, just look down,,,

  • I love this hymn and this contemporary arrangment, but I don't care for Catholicism.

  • @ILovestorms Well then good thing this song is nicknamed the "Battle Hymn of the Reformation". It's a Protestant hymn written by Martin Luther.

  • I love this worship hymn! The worship team at my church is awesome! I love when the lady who plays our Drums at church her name is Kristen does a phenomenal job!

  • It would seem to me that the verses quoted in the description part of the video are talking about a queen of heaven who is god. Whereas Roman Catholic are referring to Mary as Queen of Heaven, not as God, but as a queen mother, which was the practice in the Davidic Kingdom.

  • @nate12387 indeed. watch?v=OgK7Qa9BfNE

  • AWESOME HYMN!!! my favorite

  • Does anyone know who wrote did the remake of the song? I would like to know what CD they did it on. Thanks,

  • "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son

  • This is one of the earliest favorite hymns I can remember, and I'm thankful to you for sharing it. I also think that this version pleases God, as it sincerely glorifies Him. I was a little suprised at the modern take on this classic, but it was a very pleasant suprise, and I find myself liking it just as much, if not more than the traditional ones.

  • The older hymns still rock I cant get enough of them. By the way I seriously doubt that Martin Luther would be a supporter of abortion if he was alive today. Bless Martin's soul, God is a mighty fortress and I cannot wait for Christ's return!

  • Ha! All my comments got deleted from the video.

  • now this is the way this hymn should be sung, praise be to God! I believe this was sung by the Maranatha Praise Band who travelled with Promise Keepers right?

  • Look these songs are to glorify our loving God. The reason I post these is for exactly that. I want to share the Hymnals as they intended to worship our God. And yes, Hymnals change to meet the days and the youth. The older children of God don't like the way hymnals change. But how does the older style bring glory to God from the youth?

Times change and so do the needs of the people.

I would certainly think it pleases God, no matter how it is presented.

  • I hate it when an awesome hymn is ruined when people try to modernize them.

  • um...antisemitism much?

  • Its not rue that this song is important only for Lutherans. Thought it was written by Martin Luther , Anglicans and Calvinists have also sung it during the 16th and 17th centuries.

  • Some of these arguments are really quite insane!

No Pope has ever professed himself to be more than a simple priest!

If we believe "The Holy Roman Church" to be the only church, or not, we should be Christian enough to accept the differences.

I was raised in a Southern Baptist household, but I had Roman Catholic grandparents!

Now, THAT made for interesting holidays!

We shall each worship God in our own way.

The important thing is; we acknowledge God's presence, and remember to thank God!

  • @johna166 You herad about the Nicene creed ?? The council of Nicea , where that devilish concept of Father , Son and Holy Ghost was concocted. Well I say that those who presided over the Nicean council are shut up in the anus of the Satan , though they believed they were in Christ's bosom. Only those ppl will be in Christ's bosom who believe that he was the Prophet of God and not God. Fuck the Emperors Constantine and Justinian , they started all this.

  • If you want evidence, how about this from 1895 publication of The Catholic National:

"The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ, Himself, hidden under the veil of flesh. "

Jesus Christ is God, God has authority to do whatever he wishes and therefore the claim Ninjax has made is accurate. Previous Popes and Bishops have made declarations (only one is illustrated here) that the Pope is equal to God.

  • ...Let's just enjoy the hymn.

  • John 16:13

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.

To all you catholics, you are my brothers and sisters. The same Christ that died for me died for you. There are a lot of things in your doctrine that are contrary to the word of God. I really don't want you guys to be led astray. Your soul is worth so much more than your doctrine. Seek God. Seek His face. Study the Bible. God is so good! He is so worth it!

  • Also, check this out:

"The pope is of so great authority and power that he can modify, explain, or interpret even divine laws.... The pope can modify divine law, since his power is not of man, but of God, and he acts in the place of God upon earth, with the fullest power of binding and loosing his sheep." - Lucius Ferraris, "Papa," art. 2, in Prompta Bibliotheca.

Yeah, there's a word for that. It's called BLASPHEMY.

  • @NinjaxPrime The Pope does not have the authority to "modify" divine laws. As for explaining and interpreting, this is done by all ministers, Protestan apostates alike. You are ignorant of the ecclesiastical position on divine laws. Jesus gave to Peter, the first pope, the power to bind or loose laws on Earth. (You can look it up, although i suspect YOU will misinterpret this.) Catholics are not blasphemous, but Protestants ARE heretics.

  • @tommerrigan1956 your own doctrine says otherwise. protestants are heretics because we want to go by the bible and the bible only and not blindly follow some old man in a miter because he says he's God on earth? please. Martin Luther and the others knew the truth, and they died defending it.

  • @NinjaxPrime Oh, so Martin Luther had the truth. Did King Henry, self-proclaimed head of the church in England, share in this truth? Is that why he beheaded St. Thomas More, Bishop John Fisher, and many others? "Your own doctrine says otherwise." To which doctrine are you referring? The one that states Protestants are heretics who do not share in the salvation of our Lord? Dude, it is okay for you to disagree with my position, but not okay to misrepresent it. Read MT1618 and MT18:18.

  • @tommerrigan1956 king henry wasn't really a protestant you know. he essentially made his own version of catholicism because he got tired of the pope telling him what to do. and i was referring to what you opened with. according to your own documents, the pope can modify divine laws. that's a claim i refuse to accept. i think we're finished here.

  • @NinjaxPrime Not quite finished. Actually, Henry was a Protestant who renounced Catholicism and proclaimed himself head of the Church in England. He refused to acknowledge ecclesiastical authority, yet demanded his own authority be sufficient for England. He does not "tell" anyone to do anything: he does, however, exhort people to follow Jesus Christ. According to MY own documents? Not according to ANY Vatican II documents.. It s finished.

  • @tommerrigan1956 not wasting my time repeating myself. this was finished days ago.

  • @NinjaxPrime No Ninjax, King Henry really was a Protestant, unless you would just call him an apostate, for he sought to sever the church in England from Rome simply so he could get laid in good standing. According to My own documents? The documents to which i was referring were those of Vatican II, which i doubt you've read. Nowhere do they state the Pope can modify divine laws, although he can interpret them, so continue to refuse that claim, as i do as well. Now it is finished.

  • @tommerrigan1956 and as for that bit about Jesus talking to Peter, Jesus wasn't giving Peter authority to change the law. Jesus himself said that "not one jot or tittle" of the law would ever change. Jesus was essentially telling Peter, "whatever you ask the Father for in my name, you get. If you want to bind spirits, the power is yours. If you want to free Satan's captives, you have the authority."

  • @NinjaxPrime Wrong again, dude. Do you actually read your Bible, or just remember what your pastors have brain washed you into believeing. Read Mt 16:19 and 18:18.

Any honest exegisis of the text--and not one going in with preconceived notions about what Jesus REALLY meant--the meaning is obvious. Jesus did in fact give Peter papal authority. Seriously only a fool would deny otherwise. This is not what Jesus was "essentially" telling Peter: it was EXACTLY what he was telling Peter.

  • @tommerrigan1956 look, we can argue doctrine back and forth all day. but it all boils down to this: protestantism says "the bible and the bible only." catholicism says "the bible...and whatever the pope says." catholicism is weighed down so heavily with non-biblical tradition that i wouldn't feel comfortable with adhering to it as a matter of conscience. say what you like, but i prefer simple scripture over pomp and circumstance.

  • @NinjaxPrime There you go again, misrepresenting a position which you clearly do not understand. The Church, no the Pope, EVER claims "and whatever the pope says." The Church states papal infallibility applies only when he is speaking ex cathedra only on faith and morals, and then only in agreement with the bishops of the Church. You prefer your own INTERPRETATION of scripture. To suggest Catholics prefer "pomp and circumstance" is one more example of your misguided notion of Catholicism.

  • @NinjaxPrime Also, Protestantism is so out of touch with biblical reality that they rely on those hysterically funny televangelists to interpret scripture for them. They can interpret any way they want, as can you: it still doesn't change the Truth, from which they have separated themselves for nearly five hundred years. Your television sets weigh you Protestants down.

  • @tommerrigan1956 oh, but to set the record straight, i don't watch televangelists. kthanxbai.

  • @tommerrigan1956 oh, and before you call me a sheep or something very like, bear in mind that i have the freedom to disagree with ANY protestant pastor i choose to, so long as i can back up my position with scripture and conscience, and on many occasions, i DO disagree with protestant pastors. you however do not have the luxury of disagreeing with the pope. so if we're going to accuse people of being blind followers, lets keep things in perspective.

  • @NinjaxPrime And i as well have the freedom to disagree with the Pope, even to reject some of the teachings of the Catholic Church, such as "limbo" and "purgatory." So you see, i DO have the "luxury" of disagreeing with the Pope. Please understand the position with which you disagree before you misrepresent it.

  • @NinjaxPrime Sorry, wrong again. Jesus absolutely was giving Peter divine authority to bind on Earth what would be bound in heaven. Doing so would not "change" the law, but would fulfill it, just as Jesus fulfilled it. Curiously, Protestants feel their interpretation of scripture is always infallible, when much of the time it is just plain laughable.

  • @tommerrigan1956 Please give evidence of Jesus making Peter the first pope. Thanks in advance.

  • @angelus32000 3When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" 14 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, 15 others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter said in reply, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." 17 Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you

  • @2000nyexport but my heavenly Father. 18 And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."[2]

Also whenever a list of the apostles is given Peter is mentioned first. At the council of Jerusalem Peter settles the argument in Acts that

  • @2000nyexport Gentiles can be admitted to the company of followers without first being Jews. Even though shortly beforehand he sided with James who was head of the Jerusalem Church. Peter was head of the entire Church though based on the power of the keys. If apostolic succession was not important why does Paul constantly tout himself as an Apostle and asserts that his readers should follow his example and calls himself a spiritual Father? These are just questions which you must ask.

  • @2000nyexport 15 Thus says the Lord, the GOD of hosts: Up, go to that official, Shebna, master of the palace, 16 Who has hewn for himself a sepulcher on a height and carved his tomb in the rock: "What are you doing here, and what people have you here, that here you have hewn for yourself a tomb?" 17 The LORD shall hurl you down headlong, mortal man! He shall grip you firmly 18 And roll you up and toss you like a ball into an open land To perish there, you and the chariots you glory in

  • @2000nyexport you disgrace to your master's house! 19 I will thrust you from your office and pull you down from your station. 20 On that day I will summon my servant Eliakim, son of Hilkiah; 21 I will clothe him with your robe, and gird him with your sash, and give over to him your authority. He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. 22 I will place the key of the House of David on his shoulder; when he opens, no one shall shut, when he shuts, no one

  • @2000nyexport shall open. 23 I will fix him like a peg in a sure spot, to be a place of honor for his family;[3] Like the office of Prime minister was essential to the kingdom of Israel where the Prime Minister spoke with the authority of the king. So the Pope or the Prime Minister of Christ is essential and just as Israel had to have a line of succession so does Christ's Church. I hope this helps. I am not Anti-Protestant I love my Protestant Brothers and sisters.

  • @NinjaxPrime Whoever that Lucius is, for sure he does blasphemy... truly a blasphemy, Lucius sounds more like Lucifer- just what i think....

  • @NinjaxPrime

I am Orthodox and I agree with this, as Luther defends the greek christian (orthodox)

For us, ALL the apostles have autority to guide de Church, by the apostolic sucession, but NO ONE can change the law, can change the faith, if do it, ANATEMA!

Christ is Risen! and beautiful song

  • @Loiginer

I really just think that the comments about the Virgin Mary wew desnecessary, I could say with love that protestants may study the veneration of her by the Orthodox perspective, of course catholics make mistakes about her veneration, but I think that if you study the history by Orthodox view, it will be good to understand the REAL veneration of her!

    Thanks, Christ is among us!

  • from the Catholic Encyclopedia:

"The pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were, God, and the vicar of God."

The pope claims to be God's equal. A claim I cannot accept.

  • the pope claims authority to alter the eternal law of God. That's evidence enough.

  • Wow, your debate skills are seriously lacking. Your response is like telling someone who believes that the earth is flat that the fact it is round is proof enough it is round. Clearly it is not enough if people are there believing that it is flat. Same is true here. If there are people who think that the Pope has not made such claims, then your word that he has is not enough.

Previous popes have claimed that authority, it DOES NOT mean they have it though. Nor does it reflect on future popes

  • And your counterexample is also lacking. Whether or not a person believes the earth is round does not change the fact that it is, in fact, round. Furthermore, these documents have been written by Catholic priests, bishops, and the like. If that's not official, what is? And finally, if previous popes have claimed such authority, then they all do, because one of the great boasts of the Catholic church is infallibility, that they are never wrong and DO NOT CHANGE.

  • That is why they never officially apologized for the atrocities of the Dark Ages, the Inquisition, or the Crusades. The pope wants to make himself out to be God, so of course he can't apologize, because that would mean he would have to be wrong.

  • Of course according to Rome he has to be a heretic, the question however, is not what saith Rome, the question is what saith the scriptures. The teachings of the bishop of Rome are plain contrary to scripture, it is the pope that I would call a heretic.

  • Isn't cannibalism against the teachings of the bible?

  • I love this song!!

We sung it at church last Sunday!!

  • You trust a woman as much as God? Luther is 100% correct. Luther is one of the GREATEST men that ever lived. SIN BODLY.

  • You trust a MAN as much as God? No one can ever be 100% correct. Luther was a great man in terms of his significance to religion globally, but not because he divined truth any better than those Christ taught himself and gave authority to evangelise in his name.

One question more: Why sin bodly? I fail to understand.

  • @HighKingTurgon - Luther's beef with the church was political? Have you read his 95 Thesis? Besides, the Catholic Church doesn't condemn someone as a heretic for political reasons. Seriously... study up before you post. Luther's beef with the church was very much Doctrinal.

  • I have read his 95 theses; how can you claim that his arguments were not political? The Church absolutely brands heretics for political reasons. And Protestantism was never a heresy. Seriously, study up before you post.

If I am surprised of any thing, it is of the ignorance of most people of the Catholic Church.

  • What the heck? Where's the rest of the hymn style? Forget this, does anyone know if the rest of the hymn was ever sung by these guys, they're great!

  • They started out so well, then ruined it. Grrrr!

  • I know. =(

  • no, they most definetly didn´t ruin anything!

  • Our choir is preforming this song for our fall concert this year. I am very excited.

  • Saying a Catholic. Don't forget the reasons of the reformation. The protestantism is the right cathedral of Jesus Christ.

  • 88.

  • Our ancient foe is the Pope, that man of sin and antichrist.

  • as we say the creed... one catholic and apostolic church... small c on catholic...

  • just because you don't have any faith doesn't mean everyone should think like you

  • In your own words,(avatar) it's not worth it.

Knock the dust off you shoes and move on. This is the type Christ told the apostles to do such a thing, and move on.

I removed his remarks, I won't put up it. and neither should you, Now if he had asked a question about our belief it would have been different.

They won't listen. That guy has a heart of stone, and set in his ways.

Thanks for speaking out, it is all about Faith in what we can not see.

Keep reading your bible and God bless you

  • I would like to down load this music video. Would you give me access

  • who sings this?

  • Adonai Yeshua ha' Nazaret Meshiach!

  • "Yeshua ha' Nozri"

  • Are you a Messianic Jew?

  • I don't know if you're asking me or not, but your question came to my e-mail box... no, I am not Jewish, but a Gentile Christian (since 1979).

  • i was. and that's cool, i was just curious.

  • this reminds me of my catholic roots!

  • I love this song I heard it the first time at promise keepers awesome song beautifully sung

  • Yes, having been a catholic priest then a baptist minister I now feel strong pull to join the Lutheran Church and this Hymn has a lot to do with how I believe and feel about the state of man and the church today.

  • God bless you, Now why would you do that, Why not just preach the true word of the bible. You can teach strictly from the bible. We are to be true beleivers of Jesus Christ. As long as it a bible taught church, I mean a Christ taught church, after all he did say keep my teachings.

My little church is Non Denom, but My pastor teaches directy from the bible and keeps the true word of him who died for us.

I will pray for you and your up coming ministry. God has BIG plans for you

    In Christ name
