  • Fantastic...But needs to be louder!

  • Agreed! Great band and GREAT song!!

  • He was about 53 when this was recorded. UN-REAL. His voice is still awesome. Man, I sure am glad those guys took care of themselves and are rockin. What a GREAT band - so many great songs like this one. Rock on dudes.

  • That Was a Jam

  • it was a nice bowling alley too....

  • boy!!! this song bring back lot of memories of my senior high school year.

  • One of the best Styx tunes.

  • One of the best styx songs ever

  • hmmm just watched 3 different live versions of this and the Les Paul he uses at the end for the solo sounds so much better than the other guitars .... lots of body....

  • lawrence plays the synth lead with his left hand.... interesting.

  • @arbshredder - I think that's cuz he has the keyboard split into two - that way he does not use one keyboard for the solo and another for the chords he's playing - the way DDY would - I guess Lawrence likes to use one keyboard....

  • I saw this on teh HD version and It was yes far better but ... I still remember this song and still Love it :D

  • Although he looked more female than male in earlier video, the wrinkles, experience and facial hair Tommy Shaw has become HOT!

This song from his early career was a defining song in my life regardless of his looks. The wonderful thing about pre-80's music is that it was about the music...not about the looks or the "hotness" factor of the singer,

  • Saw these guys a couple of times. GREAT CONCERTS!!!! Light shows and GREAT songs. Grew up and older listening to Super Songs from STYX!!!!

Rcok and Roll FOREVER!!!! THEY WILL NEVER GROW OLD!!!!!

  • My 3rd favorite song!

  • This is a great song

  • Well I'm sure not one to consult a crystal ball but that this is a great song I cannot deny. Awesome performance!

  • Because left is the 'Right" right?

  • Playing the KB solo left handed??? Why??

  • My favorite Styx tune awesome words and great feel thank you for posting it brings back great memories

  • it sounds a lot better in person. i went to their concert yesterday and it was AMAZING!!!!

  • There's also about 30 years in between the orginal recording of this song and when this was performed. Cut the man some slack.

  • Great stuff, ST...

    Thanks!!!

  • It's so great to see when the band members actually could really play their instruments. Man, what talent

  • I think the vocals are really, really good.

    Excellent songwriting, too.

  • I love this song so much

  • Great,Great Great Song!

Im 48 and still need my fix of Styx every few days. Wish them well and keep on rocking!!!

  • @miledbill I'm 47, I know what you mean..!!

  • This band just totally rocks. I saw them last year in Montreal before Def leppard, we left in middle of Def Leppard lol, Styx just took the place.

  • I agree! saw them in vancouver and styx blew def leppard away!

  • I love this song! and i love the weird keybord thing in the middle. IT ROX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perhaps Tommy's voice isn't as perfect here as it was on the original recording (yes, it was PERFECT then ) -- however, the song still achieves the intended result: Magic.

Instead of complaining how things aren't exactly as we want them, or not as we recall them, we should instead be grateful that Styx & other incredible artists still tour, when they could have retired long ago.

Thanks to them for letting us share the music, time & time again -- and thank you stmonkeys for posting this!

  • you're welcome! one of my favorites. i wish they'd do the entire version of Man In The Wilderness- awesome song. :D

  • Tommy sings this song pretty well, Jeez guys give him a break, his guitor playing is right-on!

  • Great song

  • "WHAT?!"

    heh.

    Nice shirt, dude.

    Represent, from Rockford, IL!

  • isaw styx last month at the waikoloa hilton here in hawaii and they rocked as hard as ever and were very polished in their performance.

  • that doesnt surprise styx rules WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! go STYX

  • dude, the song was originally recorded 30 years ago, are you kidding?

listen to Lights from the Cornerstone album, his voice sounds the best in that song IMO

  • ????? Not his strong point? have u seen him sing live lately? apparently not. have u heard anything else he sings? He's a major part of the bands awesome vocal harmonies. Maybe he's not spot on in this performance, but this guy is a great singer guitarist, AND songwriter.

  • i agree this isnt his best performance but its still great and he is singing a reasonably hard song live! most singers dont quite sing as well ive and tommy normally does. i tell u i wudnt mind being able to sing like him lol

  • ok the guy was 53 and has been singing all concert give him a break

  • Sorry folks but I didn't post that. I haven't even seen the video. Probably someone hacked into my account? I hope not but it sure as hell hasn't me.

  • this song is the shit!!!

  • WTF.. the keyboard solo n the left hand?? Anyone else play it like this?? Feels weird.

  • tommy shaw is beautiful

    i love this man(:

  • By far MY FAVE Styx song!! Absolutely timeless. I have one question though? Doesn't Tommy Shaw favor David Spade here? He does to me

  • geeze - JY's got the worst caterpillar ever. He looks like an idiot. Other than that, the only other better song by Styx is Blue Collar Man - but this is really good too. Tommy Shaw - is awesome.

  • This tops out for me as the best song of Styx's. However the live version released on Caught in the Act is the best live version. The boys in Styx were always good for a few hits on each of their albums, but I feel that the Paradise Theatre is their single greatest album, start to finish. It's like their Dark Side of the Moon

  • I had read somewhere that some girl was contemplating suicide and decided not to after hearing this song.Ah, the power of music!

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Styx live in concert 3 times in the late 70's. Saw Tommy Shaw (from 2 ft away) sit on a wooden stool and sing, and play, his heart out! He had a beautiful voice when he was young. The later "Styx" doesn't begin to compare with the originals!

  • The vocals are off from their normal perfection.

  • I agree.

  • One of my favorite guitar solos of the last 30 years - just a pity it doesn't go on for longer.

  • that's funny- the guitar solo in CB is one of my favorites as well!!! :D

  • Tell me Tommy Shaw isn't David Spade's brother!!!

  • I was just thinking the same thing

  • I was thinking the same thing!! As a matter of fact I just posted a comment about that same thing right before I read yours

  • back then, he looked like john heder in blades of glory.

    lmao.

  • yea lol i agree theres a definite resemblance but tommy is better looking but he definately suits the beard and long hair

  • I love this song. Great performance! :)

  • My favorite Styx song (along with Renegade). They sound amazing as usual. Rock on boys!!
