  • type in "ski crashes" in the youtube search box and click the video with stars on it to see the wickedest crashes ever

  • "What is important, is that you're having fun." Exactly.

  • this helped me learn how to be great skier thanks

  • Great video.

    Congratulations.

    Kitűnő videó.

    Gratulálok.

  • i have carving skiis and its a lot of fun. But Im more of a ... straight down with barely any turns-skiing person so I dont have to do all those weird-looking positions :P I like having both my legs free instead of having them stuck to a snowboard. It's fun too, but i like skiing better. and going off the track and into the forest is even better. These videos make carving look like an oldie-sport -_- wtf

  • @pikkparis hey i used to be a snowboarder and i felt the same way about having your feet stuck in to a board.

  • xrejnok you have right! It's not fun carving:S

  • snowblades ftw

  • @Woerd26 ftl

  • what's ftl? for the lol?

  • for the lose.

  • sorry its not funcarving

  • xDD

  • Just for everyone who watches this, this was the style about 10 years ago when carving skies became more popular, and i would not necessarily have anyone look at these video's, then again the level of skiers you see on most alp slopes and even canadian mountains(I haven't skied anywhere elseso i am not gonna comment on the rest) carving wise is pretty horrendous and i would never tell anyone to drop their inside hand into the turn while carving!!! Basic mistake tho!

  • yea... their bodies are turning with their knees instead of staying square to the fall line... looks like they are trying to hard to touch the snow and end up twisted in the back seat. Yea ive seen some really bad and some really good carving in colorado and wyoming where i ski... theres gonna be gapers wherever you go thinkin theyre hot shit tryin to carve

  • two add-ons for this lesson

1- Just because you've got shorter skis and a bigger curve, don't let the ski's sidecut determine the size of your turn. You need to keep moving in the vertical plane and laterally to keep that pressure on the downhill ski. I'd also like to see some squaring up of the feet, ie one ski tip is a too far forward of the other.

By squaring the feet and therefore the hips up you will find more force being generated on your dowhill ski, altering the turn shape.

  • This video is the first time I've ever seen anyone carve with short skis.

  • who cares

  • I'd rather say you shoul be on both ones :P. And i don't actually like his skking, it's imo to narrow, he should keep his legs more apart

  • um i can do the same radius with my slalom skiis in fact i could probably do that radius with my gs skiis too. so why the fuck would i buy this BS. who ever wants to learn proper carving get a good ski instructor and some slalom skiis

  • One question, @ 1:35 the guy seems to be using his uphill skis to turn. Is this only for short ski carving?

  • It is only a drill, nothing else. A drill to challenge the balance, skiing on one ski, but it also has a side effect for more rounded curves/turns.

  • I've read some of the negative comments about this skier. If this is you in these videos (which I think it is), you are indeed an excellent skier.

    Cheers to you!

  • No, this was just an exercise to improve your balance a little, or it was just for fun. When you ski normal, you should allways try to have the most preassure on your bottom ski (the outer ski).

  • On modern carving skis you should have equal preassure on both skis. Turns on the inner ski are called Reuel (or sth like that :D) and are good excercise to learn to use both skis in turn.

That guy on this movie is moving up and down during turns (e.g @ 1:10) which is not necessary in carving. Whats more, in funcarving you shouldn't bend in hips.

  • Best way to learn how to ski is to use ultra short skis like Snowblades (90cm, R6). Tell me how you can improve your techniqe when you are not a proffesional WC skier and you have to ski more than 70km/h on super well prepared slope without other skiers when you use giant slalom skis 180cm?

  • Um well you actually learn to ski well. You don't have to be anywhere near Word Cup level to use normal skis. Hey whoever is on this video is a good skier, I'm just saying you dont need carving skis to carve. You carve with normal skis.

  • @shorerydr10 to carve a ski has to have a sidecut. Old style skis are completely straight edged, and you cant carve on them. All modern skis have a sidecut, and are therefore "carving skis"

so yeh, you do need carving skis to carve.

  • 1.57 is damn good

  • I can do this on my race skis, although they are shorter then most peoples. The only thing I didn't like about the skiing in this video was that the upper body wasn't always quiet. I am a ski instructor and flinging the arms around will not help your skiing.

  • qabobe: yes they can.

  • wow. boring, terrible technique, wow.

  • I hope u're kidding...I just saw the video of you skiing and u're absolutely horrible. How can someone, who's skill level is so much below another's, post such bold critical statements.

  • agreed.

  • youre good you schould come to europe and give us some lesons lol

  • thats pretty cool.

  • skiing is my life

  • Does ordinary blades carve too or is there some carving blades aswell?

  • Sounds like Skiing by Bob Ross! haha

»Shwooop. Hehe. You have to make those little noises, or it just doesn't work.«

Sorry, but that looks very gay!

Greetings from the smallest Ski-Area in Germany! Have fun!

  • This man has disgusting style!!!

  • Hey, German guy! I really like Garmisch! It feels like a second home.

  • Guys, you should look at the whole series and see if you can watch it without barfing! The commentator must have paid for this himself because he is soooo bad and boring.

I guess the hand thing is to "challenge balance." I like doing that, too, on a super steep slope, but just for fun.

  • Ihearditallbefore thx.

Some years Ago I was doing Ski Racing or how you call this in english... Now I reduced it and teaches skiing in the Alps. So I know a little about skiing.

    Greetz Daniel

  • LOL, this ain't got anything to do with REAL FUNCARVING... + BTW, funcarvers are no longer being made with the exception of RTC. So fo funcarving I'd recommend some slalom skis with a good plate underneath the bindings... Last but not least I did some of nice fun/bodycarvingturns on skis 182cm + 21m radius no problems...

  • Well, there is more than one way to skin the cat, as they say. I found this video fun to watch and it seemed to me that the skiers in the video had fun as well. That's all that counts. And BTW, they are quite good skiers too.

  • Another mistake is why are you trying to put your hand into the snow?

if you do that when your not down enough with your Body your Position over the ski is getting very bad and you don't have enough strenght to push the ski trough the turn.

You can see this mistake in the last seconds of the video when they are using the snowblades (short skies)

for some Tipps you can write me an email

  • wtf?

This is not a viedoe how to this is a vid we should call hot NOT...

The technic is awful. Especcialy the end with the Snowblades is very bad.

Excuse my bad englsih but i'm german so...

Another thing. You cannot funcarv with a normal allround sky like this Nordica.... the raduis? (don't know the englsih word) is much to big so you don'7 have the chance to go agressive into the turns.

  • It's my job and you are right - I watched all of these and they are the worst demos i have ever seen by a pro and the commentary is a joke.
