  • Don't you dare say shit against Michael Buble people.

  • way to glorify curling

  • SKILLS!

  • This advert is awesome! The only thing that kills it is that the song in the background is or sounds like that stupid Michael Bublé song. *Shudders*

  • @murraythehotscot it IS that stupid Michael Bublé song. haha

  • @jimmyduckegg Guess I was in denial :\ It's still epic even if it is connected to that idiot Frank Sinatra wannabe.

  • BBC always do the best olympic intros. Remember the Beijing one too? that was classic.

  • @JAMamation BBC didn't make them they just played them on their channel. :)

  • @Bloodshotshatterbone

well i know that, the animator who did gorillaz did the one for beijing, but BBC acquired the license to play it on their channel (:

  • @JAMamation Yeah :) GO BBC!

  • what's the song in the background?

  • @SickStickify i thinks its from immediate music

  • @SickStickify Michael Buble - Cry me a river

  • Sweet ad

  • spooky.. i like it

  • Brilliant......different style to the somewhat cheesy but not less brilliant Canadian CTV Ads. Fantastic Winter Games Canada! You showed the world how its done in Canada!

  • it's amazing...it has almost all the winter sports!

  • @ katyc. Can you link to a better Canadian ad? All the ones I saw were blandly assembled shots of the various sports.

  • I Love This!!

  • Gotta be the same people who did the 'seconds from greatness' Guinness advert?

  • @theculpritvideo

    You could be right actually

  • @theculpritvideo It was made by Jon Klassen and Marc Craste.

Jon has done some amazing work!

  • @theculpritvideo WOW, I just found the seconds from greatness ad! I remember loving that when I saw it! Similar style, I can see were you are coming from!

  • @theculpritvideo SHIT, Sorry to keep spamming you with comments! But It just intruiged me so much! The link is uncanny! And you are right! totally right! Marc Craste, the guy who visualised this advert Also directed the Guinness advert!

I cannot belive how spot on you are!

  • Not as good as the BBC's trailer for the turin olympics 2006

  • Gave me chills!

  • There are better commercials for the olympics playing in Canada.

  • imense advert!

  • superb

  • wow, Beeb.

    BC's not THAT scary!

  • Wow, lol, klazzsdg is an idiot.

  • This may sound stupid, but what's the song that plays during this called?

  • @afrokidxx Michael Bublé - Cry Me A River

  • I thought you were joking! It is actually Michael Bublé lol. It's a fucking epic score. Most strange for Bublé... can't complain though..

  • @Redcross: One of the main reasons why Americans are some of the worst people in the world is because you think you're better than everyone and act in a pompous way

I'm not saying that's how all Americans think, however, that attitude is seriously horrible, offensive and disgusting

America are good at some things, but so is every other nation, the US is NOT the supreme leader.

I live in the UK, but I'm Canadian btw

  • You want to see every game on live from the comfort of your home ? watch them here

    watch?v=0mqgQliWK1I

  • /watch?v=JNTFxugP_qw

  • who made this ad like what company and don't say bbc...... they must have used one of their many diesign or animation companies

  • @joetheknight Marc Craste was the creative drive behind it.

  • love the song cry me a river !!

  • PAWSOME! Great ad. Canada deserves it! I'm rooting for England and Canada. Can you root for two? Well, I am!

  • 0:05 i like that mask. its like a modern-day equivelant to the serial killer's ski mask.

  • our wolves and bears are much fluffier than portrayed here, these are nasty-hair european substitutes

  • So they see Canada as a wilderness with wild animals that are out to kill you! Hmmmm.... not sure about this one.

  • Very clever and imaginative.

  • What is the piece of music called for this because i love it

  • Cry Me A River - Michael Bublé

  • Damn.....that was good..whoever made that advert should be hired for the next Superbowl ads spree too.

  • when I first saw this advert, I found it weird, but now I love it! It's a piece of art and not just a boring traditional commercial. also creates a "feeling" of Canada. Good job!

  • This is so much better than anything CTV has put out. Granted, there is a place for more traditional promotions, but why not something stylish and unique like this too. Good job BBC

  • Not included on this version, but the voice overs for all the BBC Olympics adverts are done by Richard Armitage :)

  • This version doesn't have colour or ice skating O.o

  • They use this ad in Russia as well

  • wow !!! wonderful

  • cry me a river - michael buble great song!

  • Yeah, what is the song?

  • wat is the song called

  • great advert, makes me feel gooooood :D

  • That is an awesome trailer for the Van Olympic coverage!

  • Cry me a river by michael buble

  • Clap! Clap! Clap! that was cool as the east coast winter, cause winter skipped us here in Vancouver...kinda' ironic us being the host of the 2010 Olympics.....we'll have fun though rain (hopefully not a downpour) or shine. Go CANADA!

  • Winter's here in Southern Ontario! Too bad the Winter Olympics are not held here in Hamilton or Toronto. Oh well. I'll watching the games on the Cineplex big screen. Eh! Oh! Canada Go!!

  • Neither Toronto nor hamilton have mountains.

  • That's true. But we have an escarpement which is kind of close to being mountain as we can get here. I mean, even the cyclist from the 2003 World Road Cycling Championships think our escarpement is a real eggburner.

  • WEll, I have been to toronto. But I don't really remember much of the highlights about it. How about Montreal?

  • toronto is one of the coolest cities on earth. u just need a bit of time there...

  • Oh yes, I have been there. But I don't remember much. I went there for only 3 days. I heard that the Uniter Nations . announced that Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world.

  • You need at least a week to experience what Toronto has in store. While you're there visit Queen Street West, Kensington Market, the Distillery District, Harbourfront, and Yorkville if you want to spy on celebrities. Lot of diverse restaurants, museums like AGO and the ROM, nightclubs like the Rivoli and the Guverment. And don't forget if visit in the summer, there's event and festivals like Luminato, The Honda Indy, Caribana, and the Ex. Of course there's always the CN Tower and Casa Loma.

  • Never been to Montreal. '76 was way before my time.

  • Which city is the best in Canada?

Well I'm impressed with all the urban cities: Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal,Edmonton, Calgary. COuld you give me atleast a special feature of them.

I heard that Vancouver is rated as one of the most livable cities in the world

  • As a Canadian, I personally think that every city has its best (and worst) of something. Vancouver has best views of the Pacific (the ocean, the trees, the mountains). But it also has the heroin addicts in some parts of the city. Calgary has the Calgary Stampede, Olympic Park, and the Flames (hockey). But its also home to Canada's oil and gas industry (alongside Edmonton). Now Edmonton is home to the West Edmonton Mall, largest mall in North America along with a proud heritage of sports teams...

  • (cont'd)Toronto. What can say about Toronto? Museums, restaurants, nightclubs, shopping on Queen West, multiculturalism, Leafs and Raptors at the ACC, Argos and Jays at the Rogers Centre, Soccer, Festivals like Caribana, Bay Street, historical sites, not to mention beer in the Distillery District and celebrity watching in Yorkville.

  • im not hating on the leafs...but lets face it. they aren't one of the great thing about toronto

  • I agree. But they also have the history which kind of dates back to 1917. Back then Toronto was very young city that had an influx of British and Irish settlers. The Leafs used to be called the Toronto St. Patricks because of the Irish influence. When they entered as NHL team they became one of the "Original Six". They even survived the Great Depression when Conn Smythe decided to open Maple Leaf Gardens at a cost of $1.5 million. You don't get that kind of history today.

  • Point is the Leafs are much a part of Toronto history and identity. When people from abroad mentions Toronto, it always comes back to "Go Leafs Go". And besides the Leafs are the most valuable team in the NHL today at a cost of $470 million. Of course it would be nice if they won some games.

  • (cont'd)Montreal...if you're ever going to visit Montreal, visit them at New Years. They are crazy party people, as crazy as Mardi Gras. Also, you might want to speak a little French. I heard the French women are hot in Montreal.

  • (cont'd)Also you might want to visit the other cities in Canada. Places like Hamilton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Halifax, St. Johns, Newfoundland, Quebec City, Moncton, Victoria, and Mississauga (if I left your city out, I apologize). They have their own art galleries, shopping malls, museums and nightlife. All Canadian cities have the best of something. You just have to keep exploring. =o)

  • Cool Intro

  • great job.

    BBC always makes cool videos.

  • Are the winter Olympics popular in the U.K?

  • oh yes.

  • @theurbansoul

well, U.K. is unpredictable in either the summer olympics or the winter olympics. And in U.K. the main city that gets the oppurtunity to host the game is London. But, London does not have any mountain. So, no winter is not popular in the U.K> But by God's luck, it has gained the 2012 summer olympics.

  • what about scotland..there have so many mountains

  • Well, ya maybe. I don't know much about Scotland, but Scotland doesn't get much high preferences. I think Scotland could be good for winter olympics. Are you British?

  • i obsolutely love the song, cant ever get it out of my head

  • Whats the song called ?

  • epic

  • the bbc always have the best olympic commercials you should see the 08 olympic one its awesome too i cant imagine how fantastic the 2012 one will be like

  • @splint480 I will be somebody at the BBC Facepalming. We cannot match what China did in 2008, so we're not trying :(

  • very cool !

  • That is so unbelievably cool!!!

  • It's the intro to Cry Me A River by Michael Buble.

  • yes but who is it from before buble pinched it

  • is it from anything else because it sounds soooo familiar but i cant think of anything?

  • Wikipedia will give you the full history of the song but the music in the Olympics trailers is definitely the arrangement from the Buble version.
